Stuff like this is why I chose Lowrance. By far the easiest units on market and still very capable in today's competitive field. Excellent video and excellent teaching
I have had one of these Hook 7, with the factory transducer for 12 months. I have a problem where the transduce stops registering a signal (knots and terrain etc once we exceed about 10 knots. The, once we stop the boat it takes ages, like 5 minutes to start reading anything at all. It's very frustrating, any ideas?
Have you plugged the cmap or Navionics card into your computer, downloaded the latest maps, then put the card in you lowrance and adjusted the settings? I think that's the way to more detailed maps. There is a tutorial on RUclips
one video says cant use sonar to prepare out of water, u say can do in garage , mine goes to stop screen when when i try in garage, and cant do anything.
I just replaced my hook2 Splitshot with the Hook reveal Split shot and figured I could just leave the Hook 2 splitshot transducer on the boat and It should work perfectly with the reveal Splitshot. Am I thinking correctly. I also couldn't get a sonar reading first day on the water. It said Stopped. I went in and selected Splitshot transducer on the menu option and haven't had a chance to try it on the water yet. Is that the correct move.
I actually have a similar question. I just got my hook reveal split shot transducer included and found out the deep is not much accurate. Since I use my boat a lot for scuba diving and I need to know how deep I am so I was wondering if I can use a better transducer of course form lowrance to get more accurate results

I have a 18ft Ranger bass boat. Purchased Hook reveal 9TS. sonar cable needs to longer, for what it cost you think they would make it longer. Cant imagine what guys with 20- 22 boats do
I have a new Hook Reveal 7. Have added Navionics East card. I cannot get any map, Navionics or Genesis Live to come up. All connections are solid, see that it is hitting Sats, and when I bring up the Menu I do not see Chart on the left side. Ideas?
Please follow the link where you can see all data included in our charts. Bear in mind the Hook Reveal unit is compatible only with C-Map Discover cartography.
Here's something I think would be an AWESOME addition to your fish finders that have maps/charts, because I don't think you can do this, and they only show you a lake or place, where your boat is - and if I am mistaken, I apologize. So here it is: Suppose you're at home, and you're planning a fishing trip, to a given lake. Wouldn't it be cool, if you could go out in your boat, and fire up your fish finder and had an option to "review water body", where you could enter a body of water into the fish finder, and it would bring that body of water's map up on the screen, so you could look over the depths, structure, lake shape etc., and better plan your fishing trip? Anyway - just an idea.
Can someone help me understand what setting I need to access, to get my SOG to register? This was working fine, but now for some reason no matter what setting I get in to, it won't show the SOG. I thought it was my transducer setting, but no effect, no matter what I try. Thanks
I’m getting the reveal 7 for my boat and I mostly only fish ocean and big rivers. How good will this give me a down image of ocean bottom at 350 ft. Can I pick out sturgeon on SI in 90 feet deep on a tidal water rover?
One question. If a page is created with 3 parts, how do you adjust the size of both borders? When I selected the adjust split I can adjust the first border but not the second border. It shows the adjustment tab but can’t get it to toggle to the second border
Good webinar but I still don’t understand the size of the bottom area I am actually seeing. Granted it varies by depth, but isn’t the beam angle fixed at a specific degrees? What is the angle on a hook reveal 5 splitshot?

Hi, I've just bought a hook 5 reveal splitshot, can you tell me what transducer I should choose in the menu for splitshot HDI transducer provided with the unit , Cheers..
I read somewhere that the tripleshot sonar cone is wider than the splitshot cone. And that the splitshot is a bit better in clarity for deeper water in regards to separation targets due to it's slightly narrower cone. Is this true?
That is true. On hook2 2d aka traditional sonar was the weakest part on all transducers and in hook reveal series 2d transducer 83/200 was updated (now the same as with higher level lowrance units). Also 50/200 for deeper waters (bigger ceramic emmiter and more narrow cone than in 83/200) was introduced into hook series. Tripleshot remains unchanged. So for traditional sonar splitshot will work better than tripleshot. Quite good article here: teamcolibri.blogspot.com/2020/03/lowrance-hook-2-versus-lowrance-hook.html
Can you load the maps you have created on the SD card to your computer? I went to the Genesis site and followed their instructions to download what I need to upload the maps. The maps are now there on the site but if I click on them to open them up, all I see it the area of the lake that I mapped and where I traveled. It does not show any of the lake contours, so basically useless. I contacted customer support, and they were worthless. You are talking to someone across the globe who is reading from a manual trying to figure out what you even want to do. When they e-mailed me, their response was 4 - 6 weeks later. Their last response said that I needed a "third party" software but have no idea what that might be. It would be nice to view these maps when you are off the water. Anyone have any info about this?
I bought the Hook 2 TripleShot 7" a couple years ago. COVID has kept me off the water, so not much use. Technology moves on... I see how fabulous the Reveal feature works. Is it possible to upgrade my Hook2 so as to have the Reveal feature?
I know you can create maps using a micro sd card and genesis live on the 5x but can you also download and add genesis live maps that are on the internet cheers
The Hook Reveal X series is compatible with Genesis Live, but it is not compatible with mapping, therefore you cannot use the social maps with your 5X unit.

I have returned 2 of these Hook 7 Reveal. The units would not turn on, even though wiring was correct and 12.35V were being supplied thru the power cable to the unit. This was checked with a voltage meter. Talked to customer service & technical support, ran thru testing unit buttons attempting a reset of the unit. It still would not turn on. BTW: both customer service and tech reps are located in Manila Phillippines!! Both had very little knowledge and it felt I was educating THEM on voltage supply, requirements and wiring. What has happened to Lowrance. I have been loyal customer, 7 units over the past 30 years.....NO LONGER will be a customer!!!
@@lowrance I was finally able to contact Lowrance USA/Oklahoma office. Over the phone test walk thru and my voltage meter check, it was determined the 2nd unit is also defective. I returned it to the vendor purchased from.
It would be nice to see a monitor output port... we could then put a larger monitor in and us old dogs could see them better... control would still be done on the smaller unit. But that would be awesome!!
Does the depth finder stop working, or do you just lose the bottom? In the second case, you will need to check your transducer location and move it accordingly.
So if I am understanding this correctly, the hook reveal 5 ,7 and 9 series (shown here) will accept a standard mapping Louisiana card? “X” series you cannot use a 3rd party mapping program. Thanks
@Lowrance if i buy a triple shot hook reveal unit can i later add a hdi 50/200 transducer and just switch between them for fresh or salt water? A TS unit will be able to run both but a SS unit cannot run a TS transducer if i understand this correctly? Thanks
That is correct, you can use a 50/200kHz with a TS head unit, but you cannot use a TS transducer on a HDI head unit model. That is because the SS head unit does not have sidescan capabilities.
I recently bought a Hook reveal 5 with a preloaded "base map". I'm now thinking about bying a map for my area (europe) can I "move" that one onto the unit? I want to be able to log and for that reason I need to have an other SD card I do not want to log to the Card where the map is.
We would not advise to use the chart card for other reason than navigating. You can save your sonar logs into the internal memory and then transfer them onto a blank micro SD card.
Great video. I've been stressing about what fish finder to get. I currently have the Hummingbird Helix 5 DI and its ok but not what I'm looking for. Its down to Hook Reveal 7 triple shot and Hummingbird Helix 7 Mega DI. I'm totally going to get the Hook Reveal triple shot. Thank you for all the info.. I want to see the fish not the tree's.. lol
Yes it is waterproof, with IPX6/IPX7 value. You can follow the link below to view a battery life chart. www.lowrance.com/help-and-support/?guideId=013-148
It depends on the depth you're fishing. What transducer do you have? Keep in mind the Hook Reveal is an automatic unit and not many settings can be changed manually.
Please follow the link where you can download it downloads.lowrance.com/. Also in your unit, under Storage > My files, you will find a pdf version of the manual.
Rod- Our Hook Reveal unit has an IPX 7 rating if the card door is closed. This means that the unit is waterproof when submersed in water at a depth of one meter, for 30 minutes. So if your kayak flips over and the card door is closed, then the unit will be fine.
I just installed the hook reveal 7 triple shot and I am putting it on simulate mode and I don’t see anything on the screen it’s scrolling but no picture? Could my transducer be damaged? Or is that normal. If I put it on demo mode it does let me see the screen.. so it seems weird to me. Just wondering.
I checked with lowarance and the guy I talked to told me that the demo mode and the simulation mode was the same thing. So in my mind the guy that was representing lowrance obviously had no clew on what he was talking about. If there’s a problem I think it will be with the unit not the transducer. I will be taking it out on the water and checking to make sure that it works..
I just got a hook reveal 7-ss...I hook it all up on my boat , sonar and down scan works good, only problem I have all i got is white screen on the gps screen so i have no maps at all , i thought this was plug and play

I clicked on to get some direct push button directions. Instead this is an overview of features not useful to me. That is how do I get to certain screen once I’m there how do I manipulate it and so on
*This is significant **allabout.wiki/fd12?..**. When scrolling around the sonar screen or chart, setting waypoints, etc touch input is much smoother and quicker. On the Hook unit you have to use the arrow keys and buttons to do everything, which is slower, more confusing, and tedious. Imagine using your smart phone with no touch screen but with arrow keys and buttons instead and you get the idea. Touch input reduces frustration on the water.*
Just installed a brand new Reveal 5 Splitshot. Never got past the Lowrance logo screen before the screen flickered then went black. After the 4th attempt the logo screen would not even come up. Piece of junk! Ive been a Lowrance guy since the 80's with the paper graph. Disappointed to no end. What happened to quality control at Lowrance? Do you check each unit before its sent to distributors? Sending mine back to dealer for refund and will look at Hummingbird or Garmin. If I'm paying near $500 it better work first time!
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
I just realized I didn't do my homework before I bought my hook 7xss. Shouldn't have gotten that one. The gps/ maps are nonexistent. GPS is a blank screen with an arrow. I bought a card didn't do shit.

Is it waterproof???
If you have it on a kayak and get flipped and it is dunked for one minute or less; will it kill it???
Rod- Our Hook Reveal unit has an IPX 7 rating if the card door is closed. This means that the unit is waterproof when submersed in water at a depth of one meter, for 30 minutes. So if your kayak flips over and the card door is closed, then the unit will be fine.
@@lowrance Thank you!!
@@dandiego6199 I have the same problem. Looks knackered to me so will check with Lowrance tomorrow.

@@joeychristoffers9449 not yet had no time I'll try updating it first then will see , my brother has older one and hes maps work fine , so I don't know why no maps are mine , paid this much money and now I have to do all this
I have a new hook reveal7 ss and I have ZERO down scan/imaging.
Were you able to fix your unit and get downscan feature on the unit? Please send us a message on FB if you're still having issues.
@@lowrance I posted it on Facebook
Great detailed information!
Can’t see what you’re pointing at for most of the video. Zoom in next time. Thanks
Is it water proof
I clicked on to get some direct push button directions. Instead this is an overview of features not useful to me. That is how do I get to certain screen once I’m there how do I manipulate it and so on
Ok I just need a card
*This is significant **allabout.wiki/fd12?..**. When scrolling around the sonar screen or chart, setting waypoints, etc touch input is much smoother and quicker. On the Hook unit you have to use the arrow keys and buttons to do everything, which is slower, more confusing, and tedious. Imagine using your smart phone with no touch screen but with arrow keys and buttons instead and you get the idea. Touch input reduces frustration on the water.*
The Hook Reveal is easy to use. The buttons are no big deal.
First world problems
I like the Ti2
Just installed a brand new Reveal 5 Splitshot. Never got past the Lowrance logo screen before the screen flickered then went black. After the 4th attempt the logo screen would not even come up. Piece of junk! Ive been a Lowrance guy since the 80's with the paper graph. Disappointed to no end. What happened to quality control at Lowrance? Do you check each unit before its sent to distributors? Sending mine back to dealer for refund and will look at Hummingbird or Garmin. If I'm paying near $500 it better work first time!
Get me from off to a scan on a small lake
Man I’m sick I just bought the hook2 7 TS and I would have much rather got the reveal I’ve opened th box but that’s it😢
What sized sad card !!!
Micro sd card, 32gb max.
@@lowrance thank you
I just realized I didn't do my homework before I bought my hook 7xss. Shouldn't have gotten that one. The gps/ maps are nonexistent. GPS is a blank screen with an arrow. I bought a card didn't do shit.
I’m having the same problem with a 5x. We’re you ever able to do Genesis live with an sd card?
As usual we in the UK are fleeced, the built in US mapping is neither use or ornament to us.
In Europe we need to deal with each hydrographic offices per each country. It is not as simple as it looks.
God I wish I lived in the states $500 for a 7”
