Jada, as a fellow vocalist, I really appreciate how you are confident enough in your skill set to allow yourself to really just release into the performance and trust your voice do the work for you. This is not only my favorite quality in a singer but also the most frequent metric I use to gauge skill level. There is a difference between talent and skill. Many people are able to hear a musical tone and sing the same tone with their voice, as well as multiple notes in succession. Not many people are able to sing in pitch while simultaneously controlling their breathing/air flow, cord closure and compression, mouth shape, neck and facial tension, volume, and applying techniques like distortion, vibrato, vocal fry, glissando, staccati, and mixing registers, let alone adding emotion or creating a character. Those are the differences between having vocal talent and vocal skill. Skilled vocalists are trained in multiple disciplines across many years so that they just know how they want to sound and can trust their voices, minds, and bodies to accomplish it. No thought necessary. Also, huge congratulations on being given such an esteemed opportunity! You deserve it! 👑

Problem is that it is such a stirring piece of music, such an emotive belter just made for a voice like yours, and regardless of what this song originally signified to those who witnessed its rising, it has some of the most heart rendering lyrics ever penned to stir people to efforts anew in times of despair.
