I'm only 23 so I don't need a cane or walking stick as of yet. I definitely want to acquire one of these amazing displays of true American craftsmanship. May god bless you and all those who receive your work.
Pearl is just the sweetest pup! She must love being with you there, how does she like the deer and birds? My pups go crazy. Beautiful work, thank you for sharing.
I'm a french beginner in wood constructions and other, and I just love to make things, to create something. I've just discovered your channel and I love it already. Seeing you making those awesome cane just fill me with determination and passion. You just determinate me over and over.
What can I say? Spectacular landscape, awesome work, as usual, and Pearl is so cute, Even the music is perfect. Thank a lot for sharing your work and your style of life
You always just get a kick out of both watching something being made as well as being made by hand. It makes you feel like you're right there with them as they're making it. My Paw-paw is a carpenter. Well he dabbles in it from time to time, making staffs and stuff. Made his own kiddy train for us out of wood and a lawn mower. It's now a little community job for him aside from working at the Good Shepherd Ranch.
Superlatives are overused nowadays, diminishing their impact. That being said, your work is awesome, truly inspiring of awe and wonder. Your talent, and skill, and passion, and patience give us breathtaking works of love and art.Thank you for sharing these masterpieces so freely, and allowing us to watch as you spin gold from straw.
I just love everything about your videos, the way you put them together, the beautiful place you live and work, your amazing skills, even your berry picking dog :)
Another great video and walking stick. Each one of your episodes reminds me a little of a documentary called "Alone in the Wilderness". A story about Dick Proenneke. Very laid back and very enjoyable to watch.
As a W. Tx boy I gotta say you captured the western diamondback beautifully. The detail's incredible. If you're ever around Sweetwater Tx in March you should check out the Rattlesnake Roundup. It's unforgettable. Anyway, great work! Looking forward to seeing more.
Magnificent masterpiece! I am awestruck by your amazing piece of sculpture. The details are so intricate, so realistic that it will be hard to tell this cane apart from a real rattlesnake, especially if it is near a rock or a tree. I have an India-made sculpted cobra. It is nice, but it cannot hold a candle to your stunning sculpture. Your talent is is really genius level. Congratulations!
Thank you Ed! I really appreciate you getting the cedar ready and enjoyed watching the videos that you sent me this morning! You have quite a nice wood lot in your back yard! Watch out for snakes!
you have my admiration for the time involved in making this walking stick....I know that with some things you just have to start and to hell with how long it takes , if we think to much we don't start.rgards
Veri Good!!! is beautiful !!! Eu sou brasileiro, aqui nos temos ótimos artistas, mas eu adoraria ter uma peça como esta. sou professor de Biologia e adoro a natureza!! parabéns!
Need i say it? Another great video of the sheer artistry of Mike Stinnett. What kind of dog is Pearl? If you have a bunch of hawks and eagles, they will scoop her up.
Thank you very much! Pearl is part Dachshund and half Jack Russel Terrier. She usually stays pretty close to me, but we do have to keep an eye out for eagles.
Hi, do you have a store? I love your work, and videos! everything I've seen are truly masterpieces! I'm an artist, but never got into wood carving. I'm sure you have a lot of mail, it's because people know beauty when they see it. I'm not far from you, Idaho. God Bless! Christina.
What size snake scale tip do you use for the rattlesnake scales? Do you use more than 1 size or do you have a set size that you always use on your rattlesnakes?
I myself love to carve, it puts me in a stress free environment. I can only dream of being able to do something like what you do. your carving as well as your video productions are so amazing. could watch them every day. please keep them coming. was wondering however what is the usual diameter of the sticks before you start with the carving process?. A fan from the Hills of West Virginia!
Thank you Jeffrey! I really enjoy carving too, it's fun and relaxing! I'm very happy that you're enjoying the videos! I've been having fun making them! The usual diameter I start with is about 3 1/2 inches. That allows for a nice, fat snake.
Where do you live? I mean things like what country and if you are somewhere like America what state? When you go out and show your walks and hikes with pearl, wherever you are going is beautiful. : )
sweet video im 16 and have been knapping and a carver whos eyesight is getting bad gave me a lot of tools and i am curious could you make a more informative video like what tools your using for each part and kind of make something basic just so i get a idea and appreciate it
Well that's great! Flint knapping is something I really want to learn! I've been putting up some videos about carving tips for those who support my work on www.patreon.com/stinnettsticks. Thanks for watching!
+Stinnett Sticks id say going by all the rattlesnakes your probably in texas if your ever around the bootheel of missouri id show ya what i know and cool ill check out the website
Another fantastic snake carving you really are a master, I have never seen a dog like Pearl eat berries before, she is a little treasure. A question though how many hours do you take to get a finished snake stick on average?
Thank you very much, John! Pearl really is a good little buddy. She is always making me laugh about something she is doing! It usually takes me about three weeks to finish a stick.
I suggest curing the wood first to prevent cracking. Seal the ends of the wood with wax or glue, and then place it in a moderate temperatured place standing upright in the same direction it was growing. Leave it for a few months and then begin carving.
Do you use any kind of flex shaft, or just your regular carver? I'm waiting on my micromotor to arrive, and was just curious if you use your micromotor to also remove some stock? Awesome channel btw. You're one of the reasons I wanted to start power carving, keep up the great work!
Hi Mike, Nice work! Have you ever worked with Curly Willow? I have some large pieces for you if you know how to saturate it with resin to strengthen it. Otherwise, I fear it is too soft. Am I right? I only heard this possible.
I have a few pieces of curly willow, but I haven't made anything out of them, yet. They do seem kind of soft. I'll have to do some experimenting with it. Thank you for the offer and thanks for watching!
when I feel a bit down in the dumps I watch this genius and his dog, picks me up and makes me want to carve again - thank you so much
I'm only 23 so I don't need a cane or walking stick as of yet. I definitely want to acquire one of these amazing displays of true American craftsmanship. May god bless you and all those who receive your work.
Thank you very much! God bless you too!
WOW!!! That's amazing. Great job.

Pearl is just the sweetest pup! She must love being with you there, how does she like the deer and birds? My pups go crazy. Beautiful work, thank you for sharing.

Thank you! I use a razertip wood burner with snake scale tip 2mm 3mm 4mm size. Thanks for the suggestion for writing a book.

These tips can be purchased here. www.pyrographystore.com/snake-scale-pen-tips.html

Pearl: I wanna curve some wood too!
😍😍😍

Thank you! I take custom orders on stinnettstudio.etsy.com
Question: When you burn in the scales, how do you make the scale color look graduated?
The color is achieved by applying more pressure with the point of the burning tip to the areas that I want to be darker.
Stinnett Sticks ok
Hello again sir I have a quiestion if I use green wood for a walking stick how do I prevent it from cracking?
I suggest curing the wood first to prevent cracking. Seal the ends of the wood with wax or glue, and then place it in a moderate temperatured place standing upright in the same direction it was growing. Leave it for a few months and then begin carving.
