Hello. I am a Titanic enthusiast, so I have heard of most of what you said. But I feel you put it in a way that I enjoyed hearing the story again, but also a newcomer would also understand. I also don't understand why this channel does not have more subscribers. I dont know how you can push this forward, apart from everyone passing the videos to there friends and family to ask them to join. I think its fantastic. Please keep it up. You deserve more support. Well done.
Thank you for the comment. One of my main aims with this channel was to present it in a way many would understand. From die hard Titanic enthusiasts to someone who is only just learning about her story. Hopefully more people will see my channel. Thank you for the support and the great comment 👍🏻.
The Olympic class liners were very beautiful ships indeed. It is a shame that none of them are still floating. I know that I, among many other people, would love to walk aboard Olympic if she were still around. The Olympic class is definitely my favorite class of ocean liners
Thank you, me too 🤞🏻. I make these videos to hopefully help keep Titanic’s legacy alive. Even if I only get a few views, I’m happy. I’m glad you like my content.
Absolutely love your style and videos!!! Seeing you in the restaurant has ignited my own passion-like you I’ve always been drawn to Titanic, Olympic and Britannic-I live in Washington so I doubt I’ll be able to venture overseas, so I’m living vicariously through you!! Thank you 😊
Thank you. I’m glad you liked the episodes. One of the aims of my channel was to bring these hidden Titanic gems to people who are unable to see them for themselves so I’m pleased 😁
Did you notice that the White Swan Hotel restaurant had a model of Mauretania (1907) above the bar? Whilst most patrons wouldn’t know the difference I found this odd from a hotel promoting it’s Titanic links for custom. I walked in one day after breakfast had been served, took a quick look around the stairs & first class lounge areas & snapped some quick photos before departing unnoticed. I’m continue to enjoy the channel, all you videos are well researched & the time to travel to all these places to shot a few scenes is understood.
I did see the model however I didn’t identify it as the Mauritania. It was so crazy standing in Olympics lounge, there was so much to see and take In, I must have overlooked it. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and my channel. It is a shame that it takes me so long to make an episode. I work full time so I have to try and fit these visits in when I can.
Yet another enjoyable episode and l want to thank you for showing us the hotel interior which was taken out of the RMS Olympic. I have only seen photographs of the interior which are in one of the books l have so again thank you so much.
Great informative video, so cheers 👍 I've stayed at the White swan in Alnwick Yes,great bits of salvaged Olympics internal decor Including the lounge, but as you may or not have seen the lounges ceiling lights are wrong...very wrong Why ...? Because they're from the Olympics Smoking room . The original lights ,including the main central light .... Where ....? Cutlers hall in Sheffield UK 🇬🇧
Thank you so much for the history and want to tell you I like you have a big piece of Olympics deck planking all way here in Oklahoma, the United States and have piece of Titanics waist plank for her decking plus a coin and coal from the wreck. I’m so glad to get this.
Its pretty crazy that Norman Wilkinson, the artist who invented the dazzle camouflage painting on ships during ww1 was the same artist who painted "Plymouth harbour" which Thomas Andrews was supposedly looking at when he was last seen in the first class smoking room on the Titanic.
“No footage of her launch exists today” today being the significant word. I never said footage was not taken, simply that whatever footage was taken, for whatever reason, has not survived. 😁
The folks at the White Swan hotel are friendly enough. If you just pop in and ask if it’s okay to take a look around, they really don’t mind, and they don’t seem to mind if you have a camera in hand. They may have just thought that you might want to be putting up rigging and lighting and things like that.
Yes, I agree. The staff were very friendly. I was very clear in what I would be doing and the equipment I would be using, both in writing and verbally. Both occasions they were firm, no recording. Pictures only.
I think it’s only right that you put them on blast for their lack of hospitality. You’re a respectful, and gentle man. Your exposure of this property would only have been fantastic free press for them.
I have heard the "what ifs" over the mishaps that forced the Titanic's maiden voyage to be delayed three weeks, that Titanic would have simply been the "largest ship in the world" for a short time instead of being the legendary wreck that it is, but I wonder your thoughts on this: I've understood maiden voyages to be less full than the ones that come after, and it was testified at the hearings that flying through the North Atlantic regardless of the presence of ice was very typical. Titanic's second voyage after March 20 would have been three weeks later... on April 10. That voyage still would have taken place on the same schedule, and may well have been full if it wasn't the maiden voyage, and they still would have gone charging into the same ice field in the same weather even if they had "turned the corner" at a different spot. I tend to think they likely would have hit an iceberg anyway and in a best-case (they fill all the boats with the same souls on board), they still lose a thousand people. Worst case, they lose 2,500 instead of 1,500.
Titanic’s title of being the world’s largest ship would have been very short lived, at the earliest as soon as her sister Britannic was launched, she would have handed the title to her having already taken it from Olympic. She was only 70% occupied for her maiden voyage. From my understanding it was common to steam through ice fields to a certain degree. The question here isn’t weather Titanic should have stopped, but at what point did it become reckless to proceed and where did that point lie when other ships had made the decision to stop. I think an accident on a large scale like Titanic would have occurred at some point in time, if not to Titanic then some other vessel.
@6:30 -- Actually, they recreated the Titanic's launch (in computer-generated animation) from the photo stills shot during her launch. The 2005 movie "Titanic: Birth of a Legend" also recreated the scene of Titanic's launch but screws it up by showing the A-deck enclosure in place. I've seen photos of Titanic' launch and the A-deck enclosure was definitely NOT in place until Big T was transferred to the (en)graving(?) dock. Heck, the ONLY surviving film footage of Titanic PRIOR to her discovery pans over the side of the ship (in the graving dock) and the A-deck enclosure isn't in place. As far as Titanic's launch film is concerned, it DID exist at one time. It was likely destroyed after the sinking, lost during file shuffling at Harland & Wolff, OR possibly destroyed during an IRA bombing in Belfast during the 1970s. No one's sure what happened to this film.** Frankly, I'd bet on the first scenario. Likely, H&W didn't want to be reminded of their worst failure. The launch film of the RMS Britannic does still exist. If you wanted to see what the Titanic looked like (minus A-deck enclosure which was probably already in place during Britannic's launch) during her launch, the Britannic launch film is what one should watch. Britannic was painted like Titanic at the start of her life. ** Suggestions and observations by Paul Lee, UK Titanic historian.
Again, as previously stated, at no point was it mentioned that Titanic’s launch was not recorded, simply that, as of today, no footage of her launch is in existence that we are aware of. Only stills. This portion simply points out that as Olympic was first of her class, more emphasis was put on her launch than that of her sisters. I am more than aware of the numerous “recreations” of her launch, both in computer generated imagery and documentaries. I am also aware of Britannic’s launch footage as well as the footage of Titanic in dry dock 👍🏻.

My daughter sent me your way because she really liked your work, and she's a Titanic buff. You should have a lot more views!
this ship deserves a movie too!!! a lot of history!!!
A shame Olympic was scrapped that ship had so much history indeed.
I truly hope this channel gets the viewership it deserves.

Oh really? Wow I did not know that…fascinating.
And Approach to the New World, which was the corresponding painting on the Olympic. It still survives, and is in Southampton, I believe.
Correction. there was an actual footage of Titanic being launched but it is now a lost film.
“No footage of her launch exists today” today being the significant word. I never said footage was not taken, simply that whatever footage was taken, for whatever reason, has not survived. 😁

Can you make Britannic videos
Britannic will be featuring in a future episode.
But we still also have Britannic launch

The bought artifacts are very interesting. I seem to be watching this backwards. Sorry.
YES, LETS!! 😂😂😂😂
it pisses me off that they scrapped olympic it would have the best museum
I Dont understand why the slipway say Britannic makes me where Angry
