why do you need money for this lol scum
I don't have a lot of money, but if you ported the PSX voices I'd be willing to give you all a hundred dollars, not a lot I know but it is something. and it be worth it to play the game with the voices I love. and if you all don't want to do the PSX voices because you don't think it follows the Japanese script, well the PSP changed the script as well. I have been making the whole Japanese fan Tranlated script. that I found a patcher did on a old RUclips video. I'm sure when I finish you all could use it it would be something fresh and new and make the Saturn version completely its own thing. while still giving people the voices they love. I understand it would be a lot of work to redo it again. so understand if you all don't want to do it. just trying because I would love to do it myself. if you all don't want to do it maybe a short video of the steps you do to just change a few lines, what programs you use. I'm sure you use a hex editor to find the right lines in the audio fill somehow, but I'm sure you don't change them with it do you? and how do you change the markers for the how long the audio is for each line. a short video that would be a God blessing for people like me who would love to learn to edit it. this is the only Saturn game I care about, and they are different so hard to learn. anyway, thank you for your hard work even if you don't do anything, at least I know ity can be done thanks to you. and if I want to mess around with the Saturn version, I will play your over the Japanese one now. but still enjoy the voices from the psx the story with the voices are my childhood I love, after all that's why I started cloning the whole script to hear a new fresh of them voices. I use to dream about imitating Alucard's voice as a young man now I can through voice cloning lol dream come true. that's why I can never enjoy the PSP voices sadly, but happy for people who do and thank you for giving them that exp great job and take care.

Que mod incrível! Trabalho bem feito pra nós, muito obrigado!
Thank you for this version. It looks and plays amazing. Transparency instead of dithering in original and faster loadings among many other changes does the job. This is the ultimate Saturn SOTN indeed!
Does this have the Japanese extra playable characters like Maria?
@@raiders7294 yes
Hello Meduza Team! I am covering this on my channel soon and was wondering; the water in the underground areas are still the mesh transparency. I'm sure there is a reason for this and I'd love to know. I ask because the water in the beginning of the castle is a proper transparency. Could the same effect not be used underground? Or perhaps a similar technique that was used for the chat boxes? Anyway, awesome work on this and hope to bring many more people your way soon!
Greetings. The water at the beginning of the castle is rendered using VDP2. The rest of the castle uses VDP1 to render the water. Due to hardware limitations of the VDP1, if the water polygon is made translucent, the character sprite will not be visible against its background, or its colors will be distorted.
@@MeduzaTeam2009Understood. Would this be something that would be too difficult to change on your end? Switch the rendering method?
@@SegaLordX
If I knew how to do this, I would have done it already. In the meantime, this problem remains in the status of impossible.
@@SegaLordX that would require reprogramming the whole game's code. A hack cannot do this.
@@MeduzaTeam2009 in my opinion you can try to achieve that using the same method snk used for the character shadows in king of fighter or you can watch low score boy video about saturn half transparencies at timestamp 6:40 in witch he talks about keyo flying squadron 2 transparency lanterns.
Wow, thank you so much. Paul your dedication to improving SOTN releases has been amazing.
I just finished this last night and it is wonderful work. Just have a few suggestions for the next version and questions about design.
Let’s start with the bugs:
Music stops at second ferryman sequence for some reason now.
Fairies don’t speak english in the dark room.
Since there is a dialogue flag for each, it would be great if the Fairy got the original line from the PSX version and the pixie gets the line from the PSP version.
Pixie Song is still in Japanese.
Not sure if this is possible since I know there is only one flag for it, but it would be amazing if we could get the fairy to sing the english song and leave the pixie singing japanese. I think I tested something similar to this a long time ago with copying flag properties to different objects but can’t remember.
Skull Lord at beginning of second castle is glitched out.
He’s completely transparent for some reason.
Keep up the fantastic work! Absolutely love it.
Sorry it’s a bit out of order. Phone is being a pain right now.

Privet moi drug! Greetings from Texas! Thanks so much for translating AND improving this game for everybody! Now it is even better and differs more from the PSX original in it's own special way on the Saturn now using that amazing PSP script! You guys ROCK! Fixing transparencies has GREATLY improved the graphics in this game,. the lighting is on point too now and colors are sharp and really pop! No more darker colors on Saturn!
Spasibo!
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG FOR THIS
This is an unbelievable improvement over the original!
I don't think. They removed voice on the intro, the font doesn't match, some flaws of Saturn version continue. It's different, but I prefer the original using JP voice, which is better than new US from PSP.
@@relu419 The TRUE Ultimate version would be in Japanese with English translated ( also a FRENCH translated version (already exist for the PSX on CD Romance) with voice in the intro , original font.
Fantastic news at the start of 2024!!!
I'd rather have the original Japanese audio. Other than that, incredible work!
the new translation goes SO HARD OH MY GOD
Congratulations on this amazing work. I'd like to ask if it would be possible to keep the game with Japanese audio as well, if that's possible. thanks

So cool. Thank you for your hard work!
Absolutely superb! Really GREAT job!
so many people have been dreaming of this, the all of the weird additions of the saturn without quite so many drawbacks. astounding!
Even though they craped up on the dubbing, the changes they made to the game (such as the translation of subtitles and special effects) were very good.
Bit of a heads up: I Just found out via the SegaXtreme Message Boards that the team that was doing the Princess Crown fan translation have stopped working on it altogether, and have no intention of sharing the work they’ve done.
So, if you’re looking for another Saturn Project to tackle, that might be one to keep an eye on.

I noticed that Alucard's Hellfire, Dark Metamorphosis and Soul Steal spells are extremely hard to pull off.

I was just wondering if we could get an option to patch in the original "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night" into this hack?

The answer is here: meduza-team.ucoz.net/forum/3-3-2
Works fine on ly saturn but doesn't detect my 4MB ram cartridge (action replay). Any solution for this plz?
Could be a faulty cart, or the Saturn's cart slot is a bit damaged
Thank you very much to you and your team, but why don't you use the original English translation? ): Or japanese audio with English text?
Could've just used Gemini's script too.
But yeah, Japanese voice as an option would be nice.
My same question, the psp version sucks so bad, script and voices.
I've been playing this version for a couple hours now, and it's fantastic, brilliant work.
I do have a few points of feedback and some ideas, not sure if all of these are even possible or if there's technical limitations involved, but they are worth an ask.
I've noticed some of the text is poorly aligned, and when I picked up the Faerie Orb, the text was just straight up not in the box where it was supposed to be. A lot of item labels and the money pickup label don't seem to be properly sized for the text box. Borders on nitpick since playability isn't affected, but it is absolutely within the realm of a visual bug.
These are all my suggestions:
Would it be possible to replace Mist with a dedicated subweapon button and use the PSP controls for Mist transformation? Outside of that, I'm totally fine with the controls as they are.
I would prefer more PS1-like mappings, but the big thing is a dedicated subweapon button would be nice. For the record I've been playing through Beetle Saturn, so my control scheme is pretty much the default Beetle Saturn controls. If I change the mappings in the emulator configuration menu, I end up screwing up the menu controls in the process, so there's not much I can do without creating menu issues.
This is minor but I do feel like the transition back to the game after pausing or opening the map is too long, but I understand that the menu being remotely fluid is a minor miracle, so I can totally understand if there's no way to fix that.
I wonder if it's possible to "un-stretch" the game with a custom viewport to make the game closer resemble the PS1 version visually. The strange wideness of the game is the one issue I see people bring up as not being fixed by the patch.
I'd prefer the Japanese or English PS1 VA and dialogue over the PSP dialogue, that being said I do know the PSP dialogue is somewhat more accurate to the Japanese script than the original English script, but the PS1 script is just iconic to me. Honestly, I think the best call would be to have multiple branches, but I also understand how much of a nightmare for updating the patch that would be, so again, I understand if that's too much to ask.
Controls can be configured in the game itself (menu - system).
@@MeduzaTeam2009 Oh, sorry, I didn't get that was supposed to work as a config menu. That's on me. On another note, I found an actual bug, Olrox Phase 2 completely broke, his head froze upright and his beam animation just kept going in a circle without doing damage.
@@placeholderplaceholder3448
The patch did not address the battle with Olrox in any way. Either this is a very rare bug of the original game, or a problem on your part.
@@MeduzaTeam2009It's not rare, it's caused by hard mode doubling the health of his hands
@@placeholderplaceholder3448Olrox's second phase does not work properly with hard mode. Disable it and the bug is gone
Phenomenal work as always!! Is there anything from the "Extended" version of the patch that is missing here? Saturn Shiro basically said there was, though no mention of specifics. It looks to me like everything has been carried over and only built upon, right?
All features of the extended version are retained in this version.
Oh, that's fantastic! Thank you for all your hard work, you've done the Saturn community such a great service!! This is now the definitive version of the game in my eyes. 🙂
Thank you so much for this
The GUI looks ok but the game looks horizontally stretched (or vertically squished idk). Why is that?
Saturn resolution is different from PSX and the original developers didn't optimize the game for Saturn hardware. Digital Foundry covered it in great detail incase you're curious to know more. The OG Saturn version is kind of a mess compared to PSX. This patch mostly addresses everything minus the scaling.
version 1.1.0 has improvements around vertical and horizontal scaling
@@johanpsxReally? Hey that sounds pretty neat!
Is it normal for the music to only come out of the left speaker in a stereo setup? The sound effects are fine, but the music has only been on the left speaker for me. At least on my MiSTer anyway.
I don't think this would translate over to MiSTer but the Saturn AV schematics are wrong, so the Left channel is actually the Right, and vice versa. Basically I plug my Red RCA in White, and White into Red. That's the only thing that comes to mind for me, I didn't notice anything weird w/ audio on actual hardware.
It's probably just a bug in the MiSTer core. Audio issues are the most common problem with the Saturn MiSTer core.@@jankmedia1985

Can I play this on my original Saturn? It,s a 64 pin model 2 with Racketboy Modchip. Not sure so I thought I,d ask.
Not sure what racketboy is (the website?) But if it doesn't support backups then you can just burn a disc and boot it with a Pseudo Saturn Kai cartridge.
@@ThoughtformsOfTheSubconsciousM Yeah it was or is still a website. They sold modchips for the Sega Saturn back then. I haven,t got a kai yet, and I don,t have the expansion either. I know some games take that expansion. I was assuming it was just a matter of burning an iso of it. I def will have to try it out. I still wanna grab me a kai though one of these days for sure. I,d probably go for the generic 4MB expansion. Seems like the Action Replay ones are kind of pricey. I def need to try this out when I get a chance. Yeah the modchip boots backups with no problem l. Wouldn,t mind having the kai for an alternative method. Thanks for letting me know what's up..

I'm gonna go FERAL this is amazing
(I wish it were possible to patch in the cheesy SoTN voice acting but alas, I won't complain bc I've been wanting to play this version for years)
Dear Meduza team, is this footage captured from an original sega saturn console? I have the game burned to a CD running with the 4M expansion and the game still has slowdown in certain places. Not talking about the map or regular loading, but running up the stairs with Richter in the Prologue and killing the Werewolves as Alucard in the beginning both bring noticeable slowdown compared to this video. Is there something I’ve done wrong? I’m using a Saturn model 2, Pseudo Saturn Kai to play burned disc, and the 4M cart which does in fact work.
Firstly, no one promised that using a 4MB expansion card will eliminate slowdowns (тhe expansion card reduces data reading time.). And secondly, in this video the game was demonstrated on an emulator, which shows better performance.
@@MeduzaTeam2009 Thank you for the clarification. Based on this video, I thought that the series of fixes made to the game also improved the slowdown problems, but knowing that the game is running via emulator makes much more sense.
