- Hi my guitar friends, today we are going to compare these 2 guitars:
a cheap Alhambra 1C and the beautiful Godin Grand Concert Duet Ambiance.
The solo I'm playing is from the amazing "Nunca vas a comprender" by Elisabeth Roma e Rita Payés.
Check the chapters and let me know your thoughts in the comments section!
There is no EQ, just a tiny bit of reverb and compression

Every guitar sounds great in your hands!
You made my day!!
oh man, such great video quality and playing, thanks for the upload!
I appreciate your words Zarek 🙏
Ey, sabor a mi. Love your playing, dude.
hey thanks a lot! Actually it is "Nunca vas a comprender" by Rita Payes, but the harmonic progression is very close indeed
anche tu con la tua musica sei molto bravo veramente bravo
ti ringrazio
Все три инструмента шикарны в руках мастера!
Вау, спасибо
Hello! This is very useful! I've been having this discussion with myself recently. I've recorded a lot of music with my Godin (I love it and it sounds beautiful), but it's really not possible to make it sound like a classical guitar. So, last week I bought an Alhambra Z-Nature (its most basic model) and it sounds excellent. I just need to learn to mic it correctly, and I think I'll be able to record some solo classical-guitar-style tracks. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks man, I'm so glad you found this video helpful!
RUclips is full of videos about miking guitars, I'm sure you'll reach a satisfying result!
A quick method to have a nice stereo signal would be a Zoom or Tascam stereo recorder, even an old or cheap one.. at that point you'd just need a tripod and you're ready to find a good spot, monitoring it with headphones
I did not know about these devices!! I just checked them on Amazon and they're not so crazily expensive. And they let you record guitars in stereo! I'll certainly consider getting one. Thanks a lot for your advice!! @@FabioGrando
My pleasure! Let me know then 🤓
@@jmprofessor btw, this guy built his channel with a 150$ recorder, the Zoom h2 and explained several times and with a lot of videos how to use theese devices at their best ruclips.net/video/p4NZoqZA4zM/видео.html
@@FabioGrando Awesome!! I'll give it a look at his channel. Thanks again! 🎶
The two are not comparable since they stand in two different categories, however the cheap classical (does not sound cheap at all) sounds better on latin licks.
A good guitar player can make anything sound good !
Thank you so much!!
That electric though 😮
Hahaha thanks!!
alhambra is always very good)
Godin sound is more warmth and electric. The acoustic is very sexy and clean. Godin guitars is incompliance is the sound of guitar hole.
soft music->soft guitar sounds, harder music->harder guitar sounds! :) It is soft music, i prefer Godin. When falmenco, i prefer classical guitar
interesting comment, thanks for sharing it👌
You should compare the new improved godins
I wish I had the money to buy another Godin.. but thank you for your advice Joshua
which ones are improved?
Or old ones) there were more sensitive top
@@alexzaytsevguitarthe latest flagship is the Godin Multiac Nylon Deluxe Grand Concert with LR Baggs electronics.
alhambra sounds way more natural
Yes it does indeed
The Cheap ' acoustic has more soul , Godin sounds lovely too but less soul
Thanks for your feedback David.. ✌
Sort of Earl Klugh against Peter White......
ahahah and who did "win" ?
Love the sound of both! Both can set a different mood. I am a Artist at the easel.
The acoustic guitar sounded best to me, but setting the pickups to the middle position and using new strings would have made the electric guitar at the end sound great.
I cannot hear a difference.
Hi Richard, may I ask you which device did you use to reproduce this video? (smartphone, laptop, earphones etc..). I'm asking you out of curiosity 🙃
@@FabioGrando iPad
Ok, thanks for your reply! I'd love it if you could find the way to hear it with headphones or speakers/studio monitor and let me know if there is any difference 😀
@@FabioGrandoI do not want to be critical. I play guitar myself. I was listening with earphones and closed my eyes if I can hear a difference but could not find out who was playing. Sorry. The difference was not clear 🤓
You didn't sound critical Richard, I just understood that you listened to it with the Ipad's speakers and I guessed you could hear a difference listening to it in another way..😄👍 btw, the difference is not huge, but I think it demonstrates that a cheap acoustic sound may be better than an expensive electroacoustic one
Godin sounds like weirdly processed electric guitar, honestly speaking it is light years away from the sound of the classical guitar. I understand the practicality of such a guitar on the stage, but there should be no place for this type of guitar in the studio.
Sadly I agree.. they are extremely practical guitars for live music, they even sound great in some masterful hands (I'm thinking to Sylvain Luc) but they can't even beat a cheap acoustic instrument when it comes to studio recording (unless you're searching for this kind of sound and have good studio equipment and preparation, I'm thinking to a few of Sting's tracks)
You're a purist. And that is OK! I am a Jazzman. Most of us, Jazzmen mentality is any means necessary to get the sounds we need! Pretty much the definition of Jazz. To all , listen to what you like to hear.
