Premiere: June 28, 2024
Studio: Studio DURIAN
The overly confident Fujino and the shut-in Kyomoto couldn’t be more different, but a love of drawing manga brings these two small-town girls together. A poignant story of growing up and moving forward.

this style is so it. this is fujimoto in color!
Yes!! I really love this version of Fujimotos art!!!
Imagine chainsawman looking like that. But rn i would prefer if they made Goodbye Eri first
@@abcdefg-nu4xjI wouldn't prefer csm like that lol. They're both completely different in terms of their tone. That style fits look back since it's an SoL drama, not a supernatural gory action show.
@@envybe248I mean Chainsawman does have moments where it has SoL and drama, right?
@@globurim yes but overall CSM is a very gritty series. This softer style wouldn't really suit it imo
Crazy how Fujimoto is able to write the most crass, hyper violent thing you’ve ever seen, but also the most heartfelt human interactions ever depicted.
The man has range
Those who can write a good horror can write a good drama as well. Bec theyre not afraid to dig-in deep , controversial and sensitive topics. Look at Stephen King.
the origin of all horror is longing
But Denji ?????????
Хояо миядзаки
Even his "crass, hyper violent" works are incredibly "human" in that way, with characters that can be very down to earth
please please. give this a worldwide release. please
early fall probably
might pirate it before then
Not happ3ning ever😂

WE ARE BLESSED this is fujimotos 2nd masterpiece
Fire punch , Chainsaw Man , I think Look back is his 3rd Masterpiece
Goodbye Eri and Look back is the than csm and fire punch together to be honest@@setelah.sekolah
More like 4th. Look back is great, but I think fire punch, csm, and goodbye eri are better.
And also the other one shots of Tatsuki Fujimoto. Can't also wait for the Prophecy of Nayuta adaptation
*3rd.
Damn man, this studio really make their art more fujimoto than fujimoto himself lmao
mostly thanks to the director that chose to go for fujimoto style. But ig also thanks for the studio to contract him
Yup also the expression so perfect!! Unlike chainsaw man...
@@sweetproject6337woah I wouldn’t go that far
@@sweetproject6337 Chainsaw Man is pretty perfect tbh, it's one of the most consistently amazingly-looking shows. It wasn't 100% faithful to the manga in terms of character designs but if that's all it takes to call an anime garbage than almost everything that has ever been animated is garbage.
@@sweetproject6337chainsaw man expressions were literally on point I have even seen manga vs anime comparisons mappa doesn't miss
the voice acting is amazing, and the animation feels like fujimotos manga come to life literally
va’s are the most underrated thing about this. it’s cool they got real actresses for this
@@8ooty0Fr it really fits the scenes
Just a reminder that fujimoto made the whole storyboard for this movie, meaning it will be totally his artistic vision
Really?
source??
@@Shofixi hahahhahha
That's so cool!
But really, does anyone has a source for the info? I don't feel like looking it up myself, lol
isnt it a manga?
MY GIRLS FINALLY GOT ANIMATEDD
These two are girls ??
Is it Gl?
@isratann711 I’m wondering the same lol, and if it is then 👍 but if it’s not then 👍.
@@isratann711they never have an explicitly romantic relationship, but they are undoubtedly closest to each other and practically live together for a period, to the point one of them says “I’m home!” when walking into the other’s room.

WE’RE GETTING CLOSER TO FIRE PUNCH AND GOODBYE ERI ADAPTATION GRAHHH!!!!❤️😭😭😭😭
I'm not ready for fire punch adaptation
I highly doubt there will ever be a fire punch adaptation since its a really dark manga, but lets hope for the best!
goodbye eris my favorite 😭
@@hatsunemei3106 yeah I really doubt any studio's gonna take that risk of animating one the most fucked up manga ever
@@teddyarden9710Weren't there plans to adapt it?
Can't believe just the trailer made me cry. I am NOT ready to see this 😭
Yeah me too I'm not ready to cry because I haven't read the manga yet 😭
Yeah, so true 😭
Same here 😭😭
Me too🥲
YO
She did the thing at the end!
I'm really looking forward to this, this is one of my favorite stories ever 😭 I'm happy it's getting the animation it deserves!
Goodbye Eri next!
i would love a goodbye eri adaptation regardless but i feel like its such an inventive use of comics as a medium that it wouldnt really transfer over well
Please don’t I’m not ready to cry
@@ratdisease5280 hard agree, it felt like watching a movie but in manga form, so if they do adapt it they'd have to be creative
This animation is so stylistic, loose and beautiful, I just know its gonna convey the one-shot perfectly and imma cry all over again
When Fujino *looks back* at the camera, the title appears.
Absolute cinema, i'm already in tears with this trailer
haruka nakamura making the music for this is so perfect, i immediately recognized his beautiful composition style ❤️ i’m looking forward to this
I know, I'm so happy! I listen to him everyday, so hearing his music in the trailer was so amazing.
Who is Haruka Nakamura? What are their most notable works?
@@envybe248 Haruka Nakmura is most well known for his song Lamp, which he created with Nujabes! But my personal favorite from him is Sad Premonition/Lilium. It’s so atmospheric and bittersweet with the way it slowly becomes distorted. The vibe of that song specifically really makes me think of Look Back- I even remember listening to it while I read the manga! That’s why I was so happy to see he is working on the music, it’s like it’s meant to be :)
Haruka Nakamura is making the music???????
This is literally going to be the best movie ever created
@@rosebud4269 My underrated goat frfr, but nothing beat 2010 Twilight and 2017 Hikari for me
Fujimoto's artstyle is SO recognizable here. Literally just looks like his artworks if they were colored exactly
It looks closer to fujimoto’s artstyle than the most recent chapters of chainsaw man. That’s legitimately impressive.
what happened with chainsaw man artstyle? havent read the last 50 or so chapters.
@@reonrrrr to be frank, the art has very obviously gone downhill. Serviceable, but in comparison to part 1, it's somewhat sloppy and occasionally seems rushed at times
@@woebegoneclownI've read somewhere that Fujimoto just wanted to focus more on the story. I mean who knows one day we'll get a LN
Well, the current art style is basically 'Deadline is near' so, can't complain 😂
@@reonrrrrit’s admittedly taken a downturn. It still has good moments, but it isn’t as good as part 1’s most of the time and it doesn’t come anywhere close to the level or early Part 2 which was more comparable to something like Goodbye, Eri’s art. I still love the story and characters and Fujimoto is cooking even more recently but the art just isn’t up to the levels it used to be. If the art being a bit messy doesn’t bother you, I definitely suggest catching up cuz a lot of shit has gone down.
I just watched it in the cinemas with my sister. We were the only two there. We laughed out loud and cried, it was such a magical experience. The film is shorter compared to full length animated movies but its filled with the most spectacular animation with its sketchy lines and heartfelt motions. I'll never forget it.
A.I. could never make something like this. Literally beautiful!
Rent free
I wouldn't have that much hope for the future.
Give them few years
Are you ready to pay for your words?
Could AI make something in this artstyle? Absolutely. Could it have Fujimoto’s incredible knack for paneling/shot composition and his deeply emotional, realistic human characters? Absolutely not. AI could replicate the look but not the soul.
No lie the message of this one shot is made me tear up, definitely one of Fuji’s best work.
man they captured his drawing style very well.
God dammit! How cute Kyomoto sounds when she says "matane!" while energetically waving goodbye - after saying "I'm so glad I came out of my room! I had _so so much_ fun!" - as it cuts to adult Fujino being alone...this movie is going to make us cry, isn't it
I don't know if its talked about a lot, but the way Fujimoto writes women and girl characters is honestly, imo, one of the biggest reasons his works are as outstanding as they are.
Exactly. He takes the time and care to write women just as good as men. Often in Shonen and some other genres, the women are written rather carelessly.
The ost from the trailer is already giving me the feels😞😞😞
do u know name the ost?
@lasufyyy it hasn't been officially released unfortunately, but you can find a cover. Search "look back trailer ost PHAROZEN"
@lasufyyy Idk if there's an official release/name of the ost, but it's called "light song" and there are covers for it
i just finished reading the manga literally the day before the anime adaptation announcement
LISAN AL GAIB
Same here😭😭
I *will* be crying in theaters
I love how the art style is soo accurate to the manga, aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.
I've never read the manga, but i feel like im going to flow so many tears after watching this trailer so i dont feel ready watching the whole thing.
Itll be worth it
The thing about great visual storytelling is that it makes sense, even in spite of verbal language barriers. I have no idea what they said, but my heart feels all of it.
This is the closest we get for Asa Mitaka to have an anime design
Guess we’ll wait till 2029 for CSM part 2 to get animated then
Ah yes, Fujimoto's world renown doomed yuri., Im excited to cry my eyes out. This is so beautifully animated
Fujimoto has got to be the biggest rags to riches story we've seen in a fucking while in the manga world. It took Eiichiro Oda 20 years to have his old one-shots be given the same level of love and respect Fujimoto's have received. Here's to Goodbye Eri and so much more in film or anime form. And here's to me going fucking ballistic over the Chainsaw Man movie and this.
this art style is very refreshing
YESSS FINALLY YESSSSSS 😭😭😭. I USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THIS 😫😫
Fujimoto, my glorious king fujimoto
Cant wait to bawl my eyes at the ending again o7
WAKE UP BOIS PROTOTYPE ASA MITAKA IS HERE
she looks exactly the same as her in the manga lol, that panel caught me off guard
In Fujimoto universe Chainsaw man and Look back is a movie and they just reuse the same actors
Well he has one totally different oneshot with the main characater named Nayuta with the same design as chainsaw man's nayuta so... I mean Clamp did this before with sakura cardcaptor and that wings series (?)
omg another Fujimoto's masterpiece is getting an animation? rill
Hope for Fire Punch to be Animated
👇
Nah bro, ain't possible. No studio in their sane mind will adapt Fire Punch as is. There are just too many 'weird themes'.
@@Shallow666you’d be wrong because mappa director himself said he wants to animate all of fujimoto work

The animation studio really managed to capture Fujimoto's style. I think I like this adaption of his style more than MAPPA's Chainsaw man
I screamed when i saw this. Look back is my favorite one shot of all time and my second favorite story made by Tatsuki Fujimoto. As an aspiring mangaka myself who has the same struggles i relate deeply to this one shot and I've been praying for someone to make look back animated and now my wish came true. I'm so happy.
Thank you so much for making this.
the art style and animation is so beautiful I could cry😭
I WILL BE THERE NO MATTER WHAT
Look back made me do art again, such a nice one shot
I'm a webcomic colorist trainee, my dream is to produce my own manga or webtoon ! I can feel this anime will inspire me more to draw
they really brought fujimoto’s work to life !!
Wait... Fujimoto as in "CSM" Fujimoto??
Yes
i really love the colour pallete and style of this, it's truly art.
I hope we will get Goodbye Eri !!!!!
How amazing the music makes this anime! Looking forward to the release!
this is about to break our hearts, buckle up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my favorite one shot of all time the beautiful story art and feeling of regret and staggery sadness the atmosphere truly a creation that makes you "look back"
Love this art style and this Story. Sometimes I just want look back to my childhood and fix my mistakes what I've did or didin't. 😢❤
Fujimoto's work always gets handled masterfully and I love it
Fujimoto is arguably the best mangaka of this generation
bro the animation for this is just…wow. definitely adding to my watchlist
Someone tell me where this music came from 0:59
did you find it?
Light Song
I hope they follow the reference and include Oasis's song "dont look back in anger" in the film.
Such fantastic trailer for such fantastic manga
Fujimoto at his best when doing one short stories like this
CHAINSAW MAN NEEDS TO BE ADAPTED IN THIS STYLE HOLY SHIT IT'S SO DAMN PERFECT OH MY GOD. I'VE NEVER BEEN THIS HYPED FOR AN ANIME IN AGES.
Look Back is my 2nd favorite Fujimoto Story and makes me so damn happy to see it getting justice with this style that actually cares to be faithful to the manga aesthetic and tone. It's beautiful
The art and animation is incredible, of course, but wow the soundtrack is heavenly! I hope this releases in the UK too
PEAK PEAK PEAK
ITS TIME HOLY MOLY ITS TIME AYYYYYY
Tbf I think this is a better adaptation of fujimoto’s style than the csm anime, you can tell a lot of effort was put into this rather than labour. Also the “messier” style looks really good.
Better than MAPPA
the csm anime was never supposed to look like a copy of fushimotos artstyle. He even said that in an interview...
@@ungol9 Yh fair, which is y I prefer the manga. I did enjoy the csm anime dont get me wrong but the style from the manga being omitted took away from the anime imo. Still a great anime tho
WE AINT HOLDING BACK TEARS WITH THIS ONE

I haven't known anything about the manga and when I recognized Fujimoto's style in the trailer I was expecting something violent at any second

God I love this medium
OMG, OMG, OMFG. I'm already crying. Pretty sure thousands of people waited for this master piece to get animated for years.
I wish CSM had this kind of animation
The animation style is wicked!!! I love it so much!
God dammit the trailer straight brought me back to tears, I can't imagine what the anime itself is gonna do.
THIS SHIT IS UNBELIAVABLE, I MEAN OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG
The book makes me cry everytime i read it I'm excited for this adaptation.
Brace yourself, "this is what chainsaw man should have looked like" comments incoming...
this is literally the same visual style chainsaw man went for. less chaotic and more cinematic.
@@cwega2463 Which apparently was the main complaint from Japan. They didn't want something clean but chaotic and rough which is sad to see because Fujimoto is all about movies and cinematography. Wouldn't say its the same visual style but they both have the aim of like you said being more cinematic. S1 already had dull/soft colours but they're intensifying it with a flatter style with Reze's arc similar to the movie I'd say
I bought the manga yesterday and was just reading trough it and was like „well an anime would be so good“ and then I saw this 💀🙏🏻
Goodbye Eri movie when?
This Animation style omg!!😭🖤
this gonna hurt like hell…
The art style looks amazing

Now all we need is goodbye Eri
i've only JUST learned about this, look back is one of my all-time favourite mangas and i am not prepared to cry all over again. i love this story so much
The art is amazing, it's like the chainsaw man Manga and I don't know if is the same artist tho
Yeah it's a oneshot from the same artist as chainsaw man, we are getting two Fujimoto (csm artist) films this year, Look Back and Chainsaw Man Movie

Gracias fujimoto por crear tremenda obra 🐐
Finally I found a good wholesome anime
God I hope goodbye eri gets a movie adaption especially from the same studio
I'm so glad this is getting the recognition it deserves. I would love if this studio adapted Goodbye Eri aswell, that could be a Satoshi Kon-level movie if done well...
