I am thinking of this idea next year to gain space and less point work, not sure how the scenery transition works at the end, couldn't get my head around that one, look forward to more on this. Just sobbed you for updates, thanks Paul, No Name Junction
Hi, really neat bit of work. I did mine for O gauge so Im limited to how many tracks I can have on the traverser. Someone suggested “ why dont you let it slide both ways” 🤦🏼♂️. Wish I had now! I could have had one maybe two extra sidings. I also put ply underneath so made some storage space. Loved the video, regards Julian.
Good idea! I found that my layouts were always up against a wall, so no reason to slide both ways (particularly as I don't exhibit either). One thing that I keep forgetting is that if it only goes one way, the tracks leading onto the FY need to be as close to the front of the layout as possible...
Hello there, I bought it from Wickes - they have a huge selection - my only criteria was that the short end of the L was lower than 9mm (i.e. the thickness of my baseboards). Hope that helps!
Arrows of Indecision, Thankyou for your quick reply and thanks again for making a great informative video, I am in the process of adding a fiddle yard module to my layout and you have helped me a lot. kind regards. David
Hi Tony, I'm going to be laying track on the traverser in the next video - since this design doesn't need to be removable, there is nothing to stop you having a feed going into the module, and then onto the traverser deck and then onto each rail.
Well done! Its been over a year now, and was wondering how those ball bearing slides are going? They are meant to be used in the vertical and not horizontal, but given the relatively small amount of duty cycles, I guess they will last. Anyway, good job. All that thinking and pondering has paid off.
Hello there! This layout went to a new home in spring 2019 so I don't have any updates, but they were working great the last time I saw and heard them with quite a few ops sessions under their figurative belt!
Brilliant. Thanks for pointing out how you corrected the middle slide.
Glad it was helpful!

I will put a vertical backscene up at the edge of the traverser and work backwards onto the layout from there, I think?
it is the simplest idea I have seen to date.. thanks for sharing
