I'd use the shade in the bathroom as an occupired sign. Closed when its in use and open so when you're in there you don't give a surprise show to the whole site
I bought this trailer a year ago and we are happy with it. Josh is correct that it's only 3/4 ton or better towable. I did the math with my well equipped 1/2 ton and I had enough weight to bring either my kids or my dogs, but not both. You can also jump over the counter to get from the front to back in road mode. The worst part is the potty breaks in road mode. You need to either pull your phone out or get up front to turn the water pump on. The fridge needs more batteries to last a night than the one that was included with our trailer. I added 600 watts of solar and 2 lithium batteries and we can now off grid for a week if we don't need air conditioning.
From the reading I've done and video reviews I've watched I gathered that Keystone's quality has taken a big decline in the past 4 years. I'm actually very leery of any of the Covid/post-Covid trailers.
I can see why you really like this one, Josh! A small family could enjoy camping in this one. Plenty of storage. King bed with side tables. Good size shower and counter space in bathroom. Great entertainment area for the kids to watch movies or play their video games when weather isn't great. Outside access directly to bathroom is great for anyone. Two doors with windows WITH shades! Kudos to Jayco on this design! I agree on recommending 3/4 ton. We towed our 34' Wildcat from California to near Austin Texas with a just under 10,000 lb rated Tundra. Wouldn't do it again. Also, getting gas at some of those itty bitty small town stations was difficult with that length.
I agree with you, Josh, this was a really great layout! Although I don't travel with a family, I could definitely make use of the cargo storage area for my travel scooter. It would also be great space to hold dog crates for my fur kids. A few things I would like to see different would be: 1. Swap out the tub for a shower 2. Add D-rings to the cargo floor to secure items being stored 3. Add drawers to the dinette benches for easier access to storage space 4. Add option for 60x80 queen bed Otherwise they have basically nailed it!
I’m partial, as I have a very similar floorplan from Keystone. Quite often nowadays in the bedrooms you’ll see drawers beneath the closets on each side of the bed. Good idea - I’m all for maximizing storage. I will say, though, if you’re like me and sometimes toss an arm off the side of the bed while you’re sleeping, that open area beneath the closets is great. Just a little something I realized after recently spending a week in ours.
We absolutely love this trailer setup just how it's shown EXCEPT, we really want a bunkhouse with a swing door to make it a separate room. We have two autistic teenagers that love/need their own room. And it's a tiny bit on the heavy side for pulling with our Expedition. Keep up the good work Josh, you are making shopping for our RV a lot easier!
@@JoshtheRVNerd my 04 Expedition has a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 but I don't think I want to max that capacity out. How do you think it would pull behind an Expedition? I have 30 years behind the wheel of semi's but bumper pull trailers are a different dog in that race. Otherwise we love that trailer
I really like your energy, and I am following your blog all the time. Keep your energy because you're such an inspiration to many. God bless your blog.
We don’t have kids, and don’t want people to tag along, so I’m thinking the bottom bunk area could become a office, craft, reading nook for me and the top bunk could be extra storage. Just a thought but I can see it. I’m only 5’2” so stooping to get in wouldn’t be too bad. It could also be a good place for a litter box if you had a cat. Our small dog is a bed hog too. Just one of the many reasons we want a king bed. Some pull out drawers in the under bed storage area would be nice since there is not much bedroom storage. Making that more of a dresser-type area would add a lot for full-time traveling.
Points off for the floor registers, draw backs, critters will sleep on them, and shed into them, and if they can hook their toenails into them and get stuck, they will. This unit is too much for me, but you're right. You need to pick the RV that meets your needs. Thanks for sharing.
The heater vent could not be located in a worse spot than right there on the floor just in front of the bunk beds. I wish the heater vents were in the wall / cabinet as opposed to the floor. I do like the booth dinette and recliners for max relaxation.
Love this TT. Josh, I wish I came a crossed you sooner so we could have bought our second camper the first time! Thanks for all your hard work. The nerd heard appreciates you.
That is a very Nice Cougar 29 footer! Only drawback for me would be the very limited counter prep space but definitely NOT a deal breaker! That outdoor mini kitchen is a selling advantage! 😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Right away, at 3:30, I see why this is your preferred trailer. I am going to watch the rest of the video, but this is the trailer that goes “This one!” Almost the moment you walk in the door. Going to watch the rest of the video to see if that first look holds up.
After exhaustive research, we purchased a 2017 29BHS brand new and have loved it ever since!! The only down side, which I can see hasn't been fixed yet, is that there is no AC vent to the bathroom. This means if you want your bathroom to have access to some of the cool air inside the rest of the rig, then the door must stay open which gets in the way. Or, you close it and have a bathroom which is 15-20 degrees hotter than the rest of the rig. I purchased an inexpensive silver RV insulating window cover and some velcro. The cover fits the shower skylight perfectly and keeps out some of the heat, especially when parked in a site with no shade.
We’ll probably never own a truck big enough to haul this, but there’s so much to like! I didn’t notice doors to access storage under the dinette benches. I figure you may not need it, but if it’s possible, give it to me anyway. I’m likely to find a way to fill it!
Hi Josh - one of my fav bunk house models but here are some of my "I wish they did have or didn't have" features. 1) We always try to cook outside so having an awning to cover the camp kitchen area to shield us from rain or the hot sun is numero uno for us; 2) Get rid of those tub-base showers 3) Yeah, I know not a big thingy but in floor vents are to me another "thing" to clean & maintain and last but not least I'd like to see a drop-down frame for increased front cargo space.
Great look at this rig. We had a 26SWAB and it sure could have used this layout. We traded it for a 5er for the space and recliner/entertainment/space. Cougar is absolutely up to date on what campers want.
This is the model we sold last fall after enjoying with our teens for 3 years. My husband and I took 5 teens and our 95 pound doodle on our last trip in it. It really was a wonderful trailer and a well thought out floor plan. The 22 has some nice updates (carpetless slide, towel bar in the bathroom, fireplace and shades in the door) so the only thing I saw that was a negative was the floor registers. The one in the bathroom is in a particularly bad spot. Small issue to overcome for such a great camper.
@@JoshtheRVNerd Neither. We knew we were past the bunk stage and moving toward a couple’s camper. I have narrowed it down to the Alta 2850KRL, White Hawk 29RL and would consider a Grand Design if they would offer a king bed. We’ll purchase sometime in the next 9 months.
I like it! I like the height a lot, I absolutely love the rear cargo door. Like the theater seat and booth. We have a 9 year old that would sit on that booth bench to watch tv, so it works. Definitely needs dual AC for where I would take it. That had auto level??? Not just power stabilizers like I have now? LOVE THAT! Anything to help me be more lazy! I think the only change I would make is a Queen option. I would like a little more side table and closet space and I am good with a queen. And yes, its Clyde. “Right turn Clyde!”
This thing is amazing! Love the door leading to the bathroom on the camp side, standard auto leveling, as well as the rear cargo door. There are three things that I would like to see changed. First, I would like to see the storage space under the bottom bunk be closed off from the inside and an access door added from the outside. I think that would make that space more usable and easier to access. Secondly, I wish this didn’t have a tub and was just a stand in shower. Lastly, I don’t care for the shower surround that they use on the Cougar line and would prefer that it would just be a solid white surround but that’s just me nit picking at this point. With all that said, I still love this thing and completely agree with you and have it at the top of my list. Thanks again for another great video, Josh!
Josh I didn’t see a grab handle at the second door, but then again younger people don’t need one. Josh you need this one to tow behind your 3/4 ton pickup truck, so you, your wife & daughter can go on some adventures. Always like the way you view the campers, road mode & all. Keep up the good work
OMG Josh, our dog, Shelby (granddaughter named! Lol) does the same thing! I'll never understand how a dog her size can take up so much of the king sized bed!! She also sheds enough to create 3 more dogs! Haha. Really love this trailer! Recommending it to my son-in-law!! To answer questions, I prefer the hide-a-bed sofa, and dinette. I love taking my grown children and their littles camping. The more the merrier! We make the beds and use the interior as bedroom, set up kitchen (grill, camp stove, folding tables) under the awning, and enjoy the outdoors! King bed is AWESOME. Husband is 6'7" and can he hog a bed! Haha
@@JoshtheRVNerd my daughter and son-in-law are looking for a doodle (first choice would have been a Whoodle, Wheaton Terrier/Poodle) but as we're on the west coast and the vast majority of Whoodle breeders are on the east coast they'll probably get another doodle type. Can't wait!
We bought one of these last year and have used it about 10 times. Love the layout and finishes. Quality is in the upper level compared to others we considered. I wish I would have caulked around the cabinets/floor as a couple rainy trips caused the cabinets to swell by the door. (Three young kids that often forget to remove wet shoes) I’ve had to do a few repairs to shelves. Staples pulled out in a few spots. No biggie. Shower panel glue was insufficient. A lot of construction debris but pretty common in all rv’s. I thought we’d use the exterior bathroom door more but we never do. The auto level works about 60% of the time but once you master the manual mode, it’s still better than a hand crank or power jacks. It’s very stable with the heavy duty jacks. It’s a heavy rig but pulls well behind our Tundra. Mind you, it’s pretty flat where we are. If you’re fighting hills, you’ll want a 3/4 ton. We’re in Canada and used it in sub freezing temps. Water pump froze up. Tank heaters seemed to work. Mattresses are a joke and should be your first upgrade. This may seem like a lot of negatives but it really is a good unit. We’ve had a lot of trailers and like Josh said, it’s near perfect. We get many compliments on it both inside and out.
I am really digging this rig! I think the theater seats work well here. It looks like those pesky USB outlets are in the side of the console if I'm not mistaken, relocated would be nice if that's the case. Nice storage between the TV and closet! The thing I'd like to see different would be doors or drawers under the dinette seats. All in all a very nice family rig. Ticks all the boxes.
I agree that this is a fantastic unit. Our friends have a 2019. However, there is so much tail after the axles and with the folding stairs hanging down, they have ripped off or damaged those stairs multiple times going through dips at campgrounds and pulling out of sloped entryways.
Beautiful floorplan, incredible entertainment center, large bathroom with porcelain toilet, theater seating with table and chairs option, king bed, solar, an attached ladder etc👍👍Just a decent bathroom fan away from perfection!
As far as changes go, extending the awning so front arm on other side of window better; even with no slam doors not being able to open them fully just makes them more accident prone. Second is the kitchen counter that blocks access could be a flush drop down too, should give enough room to scootch by but can still access drawers when needed.
Love everything about the trailer, however, have friends that have this trailer and model and the only downfall in hot weather is that there is no AC vent in the bathroom and or bunk bed area. These areas are always hot!
Definitely like this one. Table/chairs over a booth dinette...personal preference. When I first started exploring RV's, I dismissed bunk units because I was going to be a solo camper. But the storage factor has come back around and plays a big part in my interest/disinterest in different units. I don't feel the bunks are ideal for using them exclusively as storage, but are far superior to many bunk units you've done videos on. The cargo door is a big plus in that regard. I do wish they nicely folded out of the way or were more obviously removable - but I also recognize that may affect the weight rating and potentially the overall weight in a fairly heavy trailer to begin with. Another thought would be a design of the bunks so they could more easily be used as desk. There are many places that I don't have strong feelings about and can just go with the flow on...storage for example...as long as there is adequate storage, I am less picky about how it is configured (unless REALLY wonky or unusual). This is especially the case in a bunk unit where the bunks can be purposed for storage (totes, boxes, etc.). Overall, very nice unit.
Agree on how THIS ONE specifically has a different feel when it comes to bunk storage vs most. I could totally see this being one that you don’t swap out of after the kids grow up
I would have you guys remove the folding steps an put a cargo box in that space and add the stable steps. Really can't see what else I would change. Love this TT. Have I said that.
Speaking of pooping with friends, LOL. When I was a freshman in high school I needed to ask my track coach a question about the upcoming meet about to begin. I knocked on his office door in the locker room and he said, " come on in ". When I went into his office he was sitting on the toilet in the bathroom connected to it, taking a poop. I was embarrassed as Hell, but I asked him the question and he answered it. LOL, good times.
You know what, you now have me thinking about changing my decision on which RV to live out of!!!! I could put my motorcycle in the eight foot bed and get one of these babies!!!!
I had a 2018 version of this until last year. I can attest to the fact that the auto leveling was a handful and a half. I was definitlely a guinea pig.
That was their earlier application of it. If you go back thru my older videos I was actually outspoken against it quite a bit It’s since gotten better but it does require a learning curve
I was in-between this one and the alpha wolf 261dbh-l. I had to go with the alpha wolf due to the cost and the weight. It’s 5,700 lbs dry weight however this is an outstanding model
I REALLY like this one! I love all the curves. On the storage above the sink, the counter top, the closet wall and the dinette seats. The biggest selling feature for me is second door for in and out bathroom use which, as you mentioned, helps while the slides are closed. Another big deal for me is the large front bedroom window. Like you, this one checked almost all the boxes for me. Awesome.
@@JoshtheRVNerd I like the more open feel of the 30bhs, but I haven't seen one in person yet. I don't like how the bunks in the 30bhs have just a curtain between them and the dining/living area vs a wall
Theatre seat with table and chairs. I got 2 big dogs so I need somewhere to feed them too. This is a really nice trailer tho. Might have to upgrade the truck but mines good for 9000 lbs so I'd probably try it out on a short trip no water in the tanks and see how it goes. Those dealers have been real proud of their trucks last couple years
Now that I have finished the video, it’s still a “This one!” Unit. This is one of the very few that I would want to make inside changes on. Here is a partial list of my likes. Entry door windows with shades☑️☑️, storable lower rear bunk,☑️. Rear punted cargo door ☑️. Camp side visibility? Pretty good overall. Sitting in the lounge or dinette, you can see through the kitchen, door and bedroom window. Plus you’ve got the pooper window you can look out of. A front window, YES! A pooper chair with rear bumper and elbow room. YES, YES. a good size shower. CPAP friendly. Wall plug and USB outlets galore. ☑️ all kinds of places to put and store things. Enough room inside to move around comfortably. Even in road mode. All the finish work on the inside is pleasant looking and looks to be towards the upper end of fitment and finishing, with above average materials all properly glued, nailed and screwed together. Does the dinette table have a vertical storage position or quick release feature or is it only high/low positions? While lacking in color, the outside graphics are also quite attractive and blend well with the trailer overall. That’s often a hard trick to accomplish and do well. I like the rolled under lower side skirting. The undersides are very clean and well finished off. Attention to detail here. I like the roof. Being a pronounced arch, little chance of rain and water collecting, and snow melt will run of faster and easier. I like the minimal holes in the roof. And plenty of room to add additional solar panels. I will be greatly pleased when affordable conformal flush fitting solar array panels become common place and are added to these trailers. Overall I like this trailer quite a bit. They have got this one very right, right out of the box. This appears to be a unit buyers are going to put to use and be quite satisfied, just because it’s going to flat out work well in every day use with almost no complaint. High praise indeed!
I love bunk models, but I have an idea for a couples camper here. What if... you remove the bunks and then make the cargo door wider with some weight capacity for a back porch? Tailgate style. I'm not saying go full toy hauler. Just a bigger door, mostly in width. Maybe even have two layers of doors and then have a normal vertical door that swings into the camper for access to the porch.
That's the, almost, perfect camper. The one thing I wouldn't get is the bunks. Too bad that couldn't be changed to an office instead. A desk and chair, for the laptop instead of those bunk beds.
Hayes tech, We were looking at the Airstream Flying Cloud 30' bunk model to upgrade from our 30' Airstream Excella. Unfortunately, it became such a hassle to get one, we bought a 30' Coachman 301 tt toyhauler. It is similar to the cougar but has a sliding door separating the living area from the 11' garage. It has beds/couches that come down from the ceiling for dinner/bed time, it also has a dinette slide in the living area and a forward queen master bedroom. Point is, the garage makes a good play/office area and you can carry "toys" as well. It has a separate door for the garage area and the rear ramp can be made into a patio. A very versatile set up. Our model weighs 6200lbs dry and our AS is 6600lbs dry and we tow with a 3/4 ton. The thing with a toyhauler is that the tongue weigh is higher 920lbs versus 720lbs on our rigs. Something to think about... Good luck and travel safe!!
I really like this one. Seems like it's a better built unit, with some of the aluminum framing that I saw. I like that it's capable of 0 degree and warmer weather. How much Id use it I dont know but I like that it has it if we go out or get a cold spell one night.
Very good review. I love the storage they have created in the bunk area and I like that they don’t waste the space under the bunk. That being said this configuration drives a lot of other hard points. When I compare this with an Imagine 2800BH I feel like what you give up to get that big bunk storage area isn’t worth it. I feel like the 2800 by contrast has a lot more useful storage and a better laid out kitchen. The 2800 is only a queen but that’s not a deal breaker at all for me and I prefer the bedroom layout and storage that GD gives you.
Thermister. Also, WELL DONE COUGAR for installing the nice door windows with the privacy shades!!! That's an upgrade we made on our Whitehawk. Replaced the frosted windows with these.
When it comes to quality, how are cougar and Flagstaff comparable or different? As much as i really love this layout, i really love having a 26ft camper with double bunks that still work with teens and don't mind the Murphy bed.
They are both Gold-level DSI award winners this past year and I think two years running which says a lot during a hard time in the marketplace. pound for pound I think Rockwood/Flagstaff (same thing btw) is about the hardest thing to beat out there. But I've become a REALLY big fan of cougar models the past 2-3 years. They have the same ideas but do them in a little different ways. Rockwood has more a light weight history whereas Cougar has always been focused more on big flash/features
Something this size is always kinda pushing half ton capacity But something like this is a little closer m.ruclips.net/video/6sVF__iAXtM/видео.html Then you start bumping into things like these m.ruclips.net/video/VNBK7-eQQXI/видео.html
You know, that bunkhouse is available for a quick nap. Bet you could keep a ustep type ladder in the back for access to the bunk, (as well as the roof) and then it becomes 100% side road available
Overall a nice layout. I don't seem to see Fantastic or Max fans in these models from the factory. As I personally use my Fantastic fan a lot, I would miss this.
We bought a bunkhouse passport and we haven’t had any grand kids come along and it makes the bathroom is to small so I’m looking at the 26RBS cougar or maybe a grand design
Great layout. As to the cigar.... years ago there was a game at carnivals involving a 22 short rifle. If you hit the target you won a cigar. Therefore, if you got close .....no cigar.
I actually have a video breaking down the two head to head here m.ruclips.net/video/4nkptwh_DDU/видео.html Not trying to change your mind but perhaps that’ll help. Sometimes the benefits of one brand just don’t speak to you like another
@@JoshtheRVNerd its a 2022 fuzion 428. I LOVE the rv, though I hate where the living room ac is located (in the loft) and I hate the ac vent covers. The rv stays cooler now that I've removed them and the air blows straight down
When it’s closed, can you still sit in the slides furniture? After sitting on top of Lookout Pass for four hours, two days ago, when I-90 was closed from a bad crash, I have a greater appreciation of Road mode access. Only those with RV’s had access to bathrooms.
Nobody can really answer that for you unfortunately. The reason being no manufacturer or supplier tests for this. So if they can’t make the guarantee then really nobody can It’s always a case of using common sense in doing so at your own risk
Any way you can show the bathroom door open so we can see how much of the bed would be blocked off or “privatized” in a pinch? I think from this video it mostly covers the bunk entrances. Hubby wakes up super early, even on vacation and we would probably build up a wall on the right side of the upper bunk and then use the bathroom door. But Concerned that the kids would get hot though so we might have to rig up a portable AC in there. Love the bathtub and exterior bath entrance. Would love to see them extend the window in the kitchen to go above the cooktop too.
Nice RV, the price is less than what I thought. The only thing holding me back from trading in my 2021 jayco jay feather 24bh (very happy with my jayco) and buying this RV is the fact that it is 34 ft long.
I could see myself with this camper. It's a bit big but I'd use the bottom bunk area as a dog house for my American Bulldog🐕. And the top bunk for my ginger tabby 🐈. Of course I'd get the largest solar package possible. And the dual fridge even tho it's smaller. I'd prefer the larger on if they offered a larger dual one. I'd also prefer a walk in shower with a slide door. I'd also like the free floating table and I have a question here about the dinette. Is ot possible to get 1 bench seat and 2 chairs? I've seen this in other campers and just love the idea. I'd have the chairs on the theater seat side as the bench on that side makes that theater seat feel hemmed in too much. The chairs would be better on that side. I'd keep the fan in the bedroom, I don't remember was it a max air fan or the 4in fan? I'd like the max air. Is there an option for a queen bed kings are just too big and bulky for me. I don't mind heat vents on the floor and like you I'd get some sort of vent covering that let's the heat out and keeps dirt from getting in.
Most definitely right Perfect for the family I'm gonna have to see what a down payment is on this one and see if my full size expedition can tow it 8000 capacity 18000 pound Max payload Only thing I can't find is my rated hitch weight I think I can I think I can
Id like a little more clothing storage near the fireplace being a bunkhouse. And maybe a closet option in the master that would be built in to the pantry area. That pantry is massive and could stand to have a little area notched out for some extra master storage.
I'm not aware of any travel trailer that offers that from a factory level. That will pretty much always be an aftermarket fabrication job And remember MFGs do not cover work / modifications they did not perform themselves so be aware you may be sacrificing the structural aspect of your warranty for that changeover An idea in that case is to get a used RV. The lower cost can help offset the expense of the fabrication work for the bulking of the chassis and you won't have to worry about losing factory dollars represented by the warranty
We had a Keystone Cougar 5th wheel for 3 years and never had one problem. We loved that 5th wheel.
👍🏻
I'd use the shade in the bathroom as an occupired sign. Closed when its in use and open so when you're in there you don't give a surprise show to the whole site
Not sure if those blinds were built for constant use in that way.
#freeshow! 😆
Those little bedroom side tables are the cutest!!
This my favorite travel trailer layout of all time. Keystone has really stepped up there game from years past.
Cougar has become a true standout among both keystone and the industry at large i think
From the reading I've done and video reviews I've watched I gathered that Keystone's quality has taken a big decline in the past 4 years. I'm actually very leery of any of the Covid/post-Covid trailers.
I really like that pantry closet straight across from the entry door
I love the poop alone lock option on the bathroom door! Genius in engineering
Hahhaha
86 the bunks, extend the storage flanking the bed all the way down, and a bigger outside kitchen with a sink would be my wish list.
Could be cool
Kudos to _Keystone_ on the design btw 😉
@@JoshtheRVNerd loops! I stand corrected 😉
I agree with you, Josh, this was a really great layout! Although I don't travel with a family, I could definitely make use of the cargo storage area for my travel scooter. It would also be great space to hold dog crates for my fur kids. A few things I would like to see different would be:
1. Swap out the tub for a shower
2. Add D-rings to the cargo floor to secure items being stored
3. Add drawers to the dinette benches for easier access to storage space
4. Add option for 60x80 queen bed
Otherwise they have basically nailed it!
D rings is smart
Rv is actually queen ready
Just swap the mattress and shave the deck under the lift part of the bed
I’m partial, as I have a very similar floorplan from Keystone. Quite often nowadays in the bedrooms you’ll see drawers beneath the closets on each side of the bed. Good idea - I’m all for maximizing storage. I will say, though, if you’re like me and sometimes toss an arm off the side of the bed while you’re sleeping, that open area beneath the closets is great.
😊
For me with the sofa/table since we have 6 in our house, I'd be all over sleeper sofa and the dinette.
TY Michael
Love this. Well done Josh.
Ty!!
Thermistor! Really nice growing family into couple's rig.
"Boogered that thing up" must be a midwest thing. 🤣😂🤣 cuz I've said that.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Auto leveling is great. Double doors are so convenient and I appreciate the double axel for stability and safety.
We’ll probably never own a truck big enough to haul this, but there’s so much to like! I didn’t notice doors to access storage under the dinette benches. I figure you may not need it, but if it’s possible, give it to me anyway. I’m likely to find a way to fill it!
I’ve seen that from a lot of people. If there’s space, they’ll fill it up
Hi Josh - one of my fav bunk house models but here are some of my "I wish they did have or didn't have" features.
Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely love this RV. Checks all the boxes!! And Josh…”poop with friends??” 😂😂😂
I concur😁😁
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
i have a 2917 and love it.
U R HILARIOUS! I really appreciate all your knowledge & love how entertaining u r while sharing it🤣👍🏻
Well ty Tammy!
If the outdoor kitchen had a plumbed sink it would be perfect! Probably the only reason we will go with freedom express ultralight.
I really do like those in camp kitchens and they seem to be more and more rare
Great look at this rig. We had a 26SWAB and it sure could have used this layout. We traded it for a 5er for the space and recliner/entertainment/space. Cougar is absolutely up to date on what campers want.
And they do seem to be getting better and better
This is the model we sold last fall after enjoying with our teens for 3 years. My husband and I took 5 teens and our 95 pound doodle on our last trip in it. It really was a wonderful trailer and a well thought out floor plan. The 22 has some nice updates (carpetless slide, towel bar in the bathroom, fireplace and shades in the door) so the only thing I saw that was a negative was the floor registers. The one in the bathroom is in a particularly bad spot. Small issue to overcome for such a great camper.
Did you swap into something else or just stop camping??
(also, ty for sharing your experience!)
This is on my list! 3761FL, 3855BR, 368MBI, 2706WS, 29BHS, 2100BH in order!
Wow.. some very different stuff in there
Yep! Auto leveling standard on these
If there were a bedroom slide and the king bed were on it...
13:46 Thermister (it reads the temperature inside for the thermostat) it’s the RV’s thermometer 🌡 😉
* FYI not near the PropAnus 😳 😱 😆
My pleasure Alvin!
Really great camper. I agree ! Tyfs!
I have a Apex bunkhouse but I love this one much more
Which model?
Josh I didn’t see a grab handle at the second door, but then again younger people don’t need one. Josh you need this one to tow behind your 3/4 ton pickup truck, so you, your wife & daughter can go on some adventures. Always like the way you view the campers, road mode & all. Keep up the good work
I’d love to haul this one around. It’s truly one of my favorites
Haha
We specifically found a dog that’s hypoallergenic and doesn’t shed which has been nice. You get spoiled by it
@@JoshtheRVNerd my daughter and son-in-law are looking for a doodle (first choice would have been a Whoodle, Wheaton Terrier/Poodle) but as we're on the west coast and the vast majority of Whoodle breeders are on the east coast they'll probably get another doodle type. Can't wait!
We bought one of these last year and have used it about 10 times. Love the layout and finishes. Quality is in the upper level compared to others we considered. I wish I would have caulked around the cabinets/floor as a couple rainy trips caused the cabinets to swell by the door. (Three young kids that often forget to remove wet shoes)
I’ve had to do a few repairs to shelves.
Ty for sharing real experience like this!!
Still no counter space around the stovetop. Plus drawers in the banquet seats.
Ticks all the boxes.
agree on the usb plugs
That little thing on the wall in the bedroom is a thermostat basically.
yep yep!
I agree that this is a fantastic unit. Our friends have a 2019. However, there is so much tail after the axles and with the folding stairs hanging down, they have ripped off or damaged those stairs multiple times going through dips at campgrounds and pulling out of sloped entryways.
Really?? I haven’t heard that before but Ty for the info
Could small fans help?
We can do it!
Alta actually does that from the factory which is super cool
Speaking of pooping with friends, LOL. When I was a freshman in high school I needed to ask my track coach a question about the upcoming meet about to begin. I knocked on his office door in the locker room and he said, " come on in ". When I went into his office he was sitting on the toilet in the bathroom connected to it, taking a poop. I was embarrassed as Hell, but I asked him the question and he answered it. LOL, good times.
Some people are so odd that way
You know what, you now have me thinking about changing my decision on which RV to live out of!!!! I could put my motorcycle in the eight foot bed and get one of these babies!!!!
I LOVE that model
I have the Keystone Passport in this floor plan and like this Cougar one better.
OK Josh.... I like this one... She is a bit heavy for a 1/2 ton... But this one really covers a ton of marks for me...
Great choice Josh , I like the entire unit , so much so I now have to think about trading in the Colorado for a Silverado .
Just watch capacities and remember this is 34ft long. Awesome model but she’s got some decent heft to her
I had a 2018 version of this until last year. I can attest to the fact that the auto leveling was a handful and a half. I was definitlely a guinea pig.
That was their earlier application of it. If you go back thru my older videos I was actually outspoken against it quite a bit
It’s since gotten better but it does require a learning curve
I was in-between this one and the alpha wolf 261dbh-l. I had to go with the alpha wolf due to the cost and the weight. It’s 5,700 lbs dry weight however this is an outstanding model
Yeah the one hiccup with this 29BHS is it was a chunk bigger but man.. overall I loved it. Was so sad when it was retired
23:26 White AC Shroud 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽👍🏽🙌🏽 ☀️ 🥵 😎 🥶
This Cougar right here is a SERIOUS contender to replace my 2010 Shamrock 233s hybrid when the time comes.
Awesome.
Have you seen their 30bhs? Which would you prefer?
@@JoshtheRVNerd I like the more open feel of the 30bhs, but I haven't seen one in person yet. I don't like how the bunks in the 30bhs have just a curtain between them and the dining/living area vs a wall
Theatre seat with table and chairs. I got 2 big dogs so I need somewhere to feed them too. This is a really nice trailer tho. Might have to upgrade the truck but mines good for 9000 lbs so I'd probably try it out on a short trip no water in the tanks and see how it goes. Those dealers have been real proud of their trucks last couple years
Yeah.. I am due for a vehicle upgrade but man.. mines paid for and they’re salty right now
Now that I have finished the video, it’s still a “This one!” Unit.
Ty for watching first of all!
Dinette does not have any sort of vertical storage unfortunately but that would be excellent
Oh, also... this camper feel like it *needs* wide stance axles. What is your opinion, Nerd?
I am wide stance axle fan
Interesting idea btw
Top 10 for me.
Considering how many RV videos I know you watch.. that's high marks
That's the, almost, perfect camper. The one thing I wouldn't get is the bunks. Too bad that couldn't be changed to an office instead. A desk and chair, for the laptop instead of those bunk beds.
Hayes tech,
We were looking at the Airstream Flying Cloud 30' bunk model to upgrade from our 30' Airstream Excella.
Sadly.. they retired this one as it was replaced with m.ruclips.net/video/abztAnqvh58/видео.html
Fair enough! They all have little advantages and drawbacks vs one another
Can you do a video on how the diamond warranty works if you buy and you live out of state. I liked the quick video on out of state and taxes thank you
Every bish’s store treats you like you bought locally basically
Thermister. Also, WELL DONE COUGAR for installing the nice door windows with the privacy shades!!! That's an upgrade we made on our Whitehawk. Replaced the frosted windows with these.
They’re listening!!
Man. It’s between this and the white hawk 29bh. I’m ready for a new comparison video
I am a year overdue on a lot of that. With all the new models I have to record now I have struggled to find time for that extra content
Josh! Great video. Love this floor plan. Is there anything similar that’s half ton towable? Thanks!
Something this size is always kinda pushing half ton capacity
But something like this is a little closer

Then you start bumping into things like these m.ruclips.net/video/VNBK7-eQQXI/видео.html
You know, that bunkhouse is available for a quick nap. Bet you could keep a ustep type ladder in the back for access to the bunk, (as well as the roof) and then it becomes 100% side road available
Hmmm. Maybe
Overall a nice layout.
I don't seem to see Fantastic or Max fans in these models from the factory. As I personally use my Fantastic fan a lot, I would miss this.
I 100% agree. Bigger vent fans are never the wrong answer
We bought a bunkhouse passport and we haven’t had any grand kids come along and it makes the bathroom is to small so I’m looking at the 26RBS cougar or maybe a grand design
This is something that happens regularly as it turns out. That 26rbs is pretty awesome
Great layout. As to the cigar.... years ago there was a game at carnivals involving a 22 short rifle. If you hit the target you won a cigar. Therefore, if you got close .....no cigar.
Wow… thank you

What does it actually mean they test to 110 degrees? Like what temp does it maintain inside the RV?
Comfortable living temps
@@JoshtheRVNerd Yeah but who defines that? My grandma wears a sweater when its 90 degrees outside.
@@beenieweenie1986 Mfgs like Jayco publish their zone temps. Things like 70ish give or take

Not trying to change your mind but perhaps that’ll help. Sometimes the benefits of one brand just don’t speak to you like another
I have a keystone. I freaking HATE the air duct covers. I took them out so the air can blow straight down.
What year is your Keystone?
@@JoshtheRVNerd its a 2022 fuzion 428. I LOVE the rv, though I hate where the living room ac is located (in the loft) and I hate the ac vent covers. The rv stays cooler now that I've removed them and the air blows straight down
Wife and I love this thing. Where is your link for that solar video?
Oh I forgot it. Sorry
Here you go m.ruclips.net/video/1LXn7xWRrv8/видео.html
When it’s closed, can you still sit in the slides furniture? After sitting on top of Lookout Pass for four hours, two days ago, when I-90 was closed from a bad crash, I have a greater appreciation of Road mode access. Only those with RV’s had access to bathrooms.
Nobody can really answer that for you unfortunately. The reason being no manufacturer or supplier tests for this. So if they can’t make the guarantee then really nobody can
It’s always a case of using common sense in doing so at your own risk
Nerd preferred lol. That’s awesome.
😊
Any way you can show the bathroom door open so we can see how much of the bed would be blocked off or “privatized” in a pinch? I think from this video it mostly covers the bunk entrances. Hubby wakes up super early, even on vacation and we would probably build up a wall on the right side of the upper bunk and then use the bathroom door. But Concerned that the kids would get hot though so we might have to rig up a portable AC in there. Love the bathtub and exterior bath entrance. Would love to see them extend the window in the kitchen to go above the cooktop too.
Sadly it’s a bit of a moot point
This model has since been retired
@@JoshtheRVNerd how dare they retire YOUR top pick!! They don’t understand the great measure of your worth!.

Just curious….Are the bunks removable? That area would be great for a small office space. Thanks!! Awesome video, as always.
Not specifically by design from the factory but they could certainly be removed
Nice RV, the price is less than what I thought. The only thing holding me back from trading in my 2021 jayco jay feather 24bh (very happy with my jayco) and buying this RV is the fact that it is 34 ft long.
Yeah she’s a bit longer than most. But man I love this one
Does it come with a wood floor?
Their floor is composite decking and aluminum structured
Most definitely right Perfect for the family I'm gonna have to see what a down payment is on this one and see if my full size expedition can tow it 8000 capacity 18000 pound Max payload Only thing I can't find is my rated hitch weight I think I can I think I can
Down payment is what YOU decide really
More IS better though. 10% is good. 20% better still
Nice layout. The ladder stairs need to be thicker. Those tiny spindle like stairs hurt the feet.
For the bunks? Yeah. I've felt that a few times climbing up and around
Right turn Clyde
👍🏻
Id like a little more clothing storage near the fireplace being a bunkhouse. And maybe a closet option in the master that would be built in to the pantry area. That pantry is massive and could stand to have a little area notched out for some extra master storage.
Solid ideas… ty
Can the rear hitch on this unit be beefed up to a class 3 receiver? Need the strength for a motorcycle carrier.
I'm not aware of any travel trailer that offers that from a factory level. That will pretty much always be an aftermarket fabrication job
And remember MFGs do not cover work / modifications they did not perform themselves so be aware you may be sacrificing the structural aspect of your warranty for that changeover
An idea in that case is to get a used RV. The lower cost can help offset the expense of the fabrication work for the bulking of the chassis and you won't have to worry about losing factory dollars represented by the warranty
Can you ever get a bench and 2 chairs with the dinette?
I don’t believe cougar is currently offering that but eagle and reflection do in their models
I like it Josh a bit too big for me and don't care for the bunks also I would prefer the chairs and table and keep the theater seating.
Table and chairs are available!!
I love everything about this except one thing. Are there plans for W/D hookup (without losing the king bed)? Then it would be perfect for me.
Argh. Model discontinued!
Yeah 😞
