I received my new Isuzu Dmax 1.9 Executive 6 AT which is the high spec here in Romania. My last car was a 2008 VW Touareg with the V6 3.0TDI engine and my biggest concern was about the power of the engine and the torque. After aprox 5000km/3000miles I cannot be happier with my choice. The car is amazing, it drives almost like an SUV. The steering is very precise and the overall handling is better than most of the pickups I previously drove. It's a huge difference between the old Dmax and the new one at all characteristics. It has a top interior, nice looks, great fuel mileage, a lot of safety technology and it feels safe even at high speeds of 160km/h or 100 mph. I am happy about the engine and the performance it delivers. It's quick enough for normal driving. Up to 40-50 mph it has been always enough for me no matter what. Yes, you cannot compare it with the 3.0v6 I had but it does the job amazingly. I love my car!

I have a daihatsu fourtrak 65k miles 2.8td can tow 3.5t legal no dpf, no adblue, no duel mass flywheel problems, no cat on exhaust, no Ecu problems, can run in high or low range by moving manual lever, can run 2 or 4wd instantly, never broken down once and fantastic at towing and going through fields etc. Modern motors are like time bombs they can go wrong and leave you stranded without warning then cost a fortune to repair. If you are faced with flooded areas these new cars have electrics that won’t like being under water but fourtrak can handle that ok. In short today’s cars deliver a nicer driving experience but there is a price to pay. Motors were more practical during the nineties for me anyway. Good video tho.

I run a 2017 Nissan Navara 2.5 TD as my everyday ride. I'm not in farming but have been renovating a property so truck bed gets a load aboard quite a lot. I agree with you about the feel when loaded. The truck gets very stable and eats the bumps. I live in Belgium where the motorways resemble badly maintained B Roads but my truck will Drive all day at 120kph (about 75mph) very smoothly. Tows beautifully too.
Great vid look forward to more

The 1.7 TDi isuzu engine in my old mk3 cavalier outlasted three clutches on one oil change, it's stubborn refusal to die so i could scrap the rusted out car cost me a small fortune in mig wire and brake pipe over the 14 years that i owned it and the engine was still going strong when i took it out because i was forced to scrap the car after welding it up every year wore out my welder. isuzu engines outlive everything.

Hi Lord Muck, Great vehicle, I just got my MY21 Dmax a week ago and am intrigued by the differences between the UK & Oz. Mines a 3 litre LSU (Mid spec), 6 speed auto. I love it. As with any vehicle, the proof of how good it is, is in the longevity and how it performs over the its life. From what I can tell here generally those that buy the dmax don't get rid of them, they hold on to them. Anyway looking forward to the other reviews.

Here in NZ farmers like to have flat deck with sides, tail door, head board. Flat decks are more suited to carting hay, fencing materials
etc. If a manufacturer does not have a cab & chassis option you build up a collection of well decks in the shed.
Alloy decks with dog a kennel on double cab Hilux, Landcruiser 100 series, Ranger, Isuzu etc. are very common.
    Have a good day.

My brother-in-law has a 2019 Isuzu Fury pickup with a 1.9L engine and auto box and he regularly tows a 14ft livestock trailer with cattle or sheep in it. He loves the Isuzu.
I have a 2016 Ford Ranger XLT 2.2L six speed manual and it has gear in the back and tows trailers about and I think it's great.
It will be interesting to see how these reviews go because it is good to see what other motors are like. Top regards melod from North Yorkshire!

Back in 2010 I had a nearly brand new 1500km d-max in at work, the boys from the council got it stuck on the beach and subsequently fryed the clutch in. Got the whole gearbox and 4x4 divider of, nothing but hair in the bellhousing, absolutely knackered the friction plate and the smell🤢

Pretty sure we can't get the 3l in the UK because of emissions

    • @cynic-al
      @cynic-al 3 года назад

They dropped the bigger engines here because of the emissions laws and the manufacturer has to hit a certain emissions level across their range too. All the manufacturers are down sizing and fitting turbos, superchargers, doing hybrids, electrics etc. Mitsubushi announced they were going to pull out of europe altogether as they couldn't afford to keep up with the requirements and there is a big world outside of Europe to sell to. I think the difference between the UK and Australia or the US or africa is that in the UK your rarely without phone signal or far from people and generally don't do hugely long trips so a small, highly stressed engine with lots of sensors isn't a massive problem if it goes wrong. You just call the recovery. Somewhere where your in the middle of nowhere and might not see someone for days you want the bigger, low stressed, simpler lump that's more likely to keep chugging on for many thousands of miles.

Other markets are so lucky. Here in Japan, there is only one pickup that is available on the market and that is the Toyota Hilux Surf. Isuzu have completely pulled out of the car market many years ago now and only sell trucks here in Japan. Part of the problem is that pickups are classified as a commercial vehicle and have a '100' series designation on the number plate that also means that our tolled motorway system charges them to be mid-sized trucks and far more expensive tolls than ordinary passenger vehicles which also includes full sized SUVs which can travel at the same toll as ordinary passenger vehicles. The MOT (very strict here in Japan and EXPENSIVE) on commercial vehicles is initially two years, then every year subsequently. Passenger vehicles (including full sized SUVs) are initially after 3 years and every two years subsequently. Consequently, they don't sell very well. Now, how much more effect does a pickup have on the road as compared to a full sized SUV? Yeah, right. None whatsoever.

Yep I believe the Chevy LUV from the early 70’s was basically built by ISUZU. GM I think still has ties with Isuzu.

They look just what I’m after, had L200’s for 11 years and now I think the Isuzu is the best contender for what I want to do, coupled to the dealer network, which seems to be a lot of tractor dealerships for some reason?

What are your thoughts on the new defender. Do you think it would work as a work vehicle. Also great video I'm glad that that 1.9 In the isuzu performed well with the tests.

If I get time to try the Defender we'll see if it's as good as I think it might be.
