Rick Moranis is a truly good person. After his wife died of breast cancer, he gave up a promising career at it's peak because his children needed him and he wanted to be the best father he could to them. The man is a superhero, at the very least to his kids.
Rick Moranis came back into acting in 2020. Besides this classic and its sequel and the 3rd in 1997, Rick is in process to return in a new movie: Shrunk. Shrunk is still in pre-production. He is slowly getting back.
Using as many practical effects as possible, as well as the special effects of the day, director Joe Johnston's vision holds up incredibly well years later.
Rick Moranis is such a huge part of my childhood and this is the epitome of creativity. I completely respect his decision to leave the industry and take care of his family
They had a ride at Epcot Center called "Honey, I Shrunk The Audience" back in the day & when the dog sneezed on you they sprayed water on you... it was hilarious 😅
Yeah… yes it does. It was big when it came out in 1989 and it’s the movie that Rick Moranis is best known for. Would everybody on RUclips please get out of your delusional states and stop making inaccurate statements about big movies not getting enough attention!
@@Julius-Z whether or not something is popular is not opinion! You can find out if something did get alot of love or not… it’s not for you to decide if something is popular or not. Nice one, Ellie & Mish! This great little movie still keeps its entertainment value even now, compared to so many more recent films that I don't think will age half so well, by comparison.
I was 6 when this came out in theaters. I remember there was a short Roger Rabbit cartoon that they featured with it too. This movie was such a cool concept, and all the practical effects were so well done. I forgot how cute the older brother was lol!
Okay I'm officiallly old....I was 15 years old when I saw this movie for the first time. And to your comment about what people thought back then, well it was about that time when special effects really took on. The scientist dad (Rick Moranis) was also an actor in Ghostbusters, another movie with some advanced special effects and suddenly a lot of movies had to have that element in them. I can name Terminator, Back to the future, Gremlins, Weird Science, Indiana Jones, Starwars and so on.
19:59. 😊 Ellie, I know this isn't a Car documentary, but the car you call a VW is actually a Volvo PV 544. We had one when I was a kid. 😊 Cheers and great reaction 👍😊
Ladies, this was directed by Joe Johnston, art director for the original Star Wars trilogy, and director of Jumanji, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Rocketeer, and October Sky.
It's a lot of people reacting to this movie I just put in the word people reacting to the movie Honey I shrunk the kid and so many RUclipsr videos popped up reacting to this movie
A bunch of you girls should watch the movie “Cape Fear” from 1991 This is a phenomenal film that was nominated for many awards when it came out. With some extraordinary acting that would be so fascinating to see your girls take on.
I had a feeling Ellie would cry at the ant dying. That made me sad when I was a young boy. The food hypothesis doesn't make sense, as the machine is only adding or removing empty space. Therefore, the number of nutrients doesn't change, it simply takes longer to eat it (and changes the texture.) It could make transportation/storage much easier, though, and that's the actual problem with food.
Alternate Ending to Scorpion Sequence Scorpion raises its tail in dramatic fashion. But then suddenly, before it has a chance to drop the stinger on Antie, it gets ambushed by Scott Lang and his daughter Cassie and the army of super ants.
You ladies talk about the kids seeing this in 1989, well, I was one of those kids! It was a really neat movie and I especially remember the ants. By the way, I distinctly remember this movie was at the cinema the same time as Dead Poets Society. That movie held no interest to us kids, but as an adult I found it a damn good movie. Check it out if you haven’t already.
Guys! Again, I love you all! Check 4 movies I'm sure all 4 of you will love! Real Steel, the Shape of Water, and the Curious Case of Benjamin Button! ❤

Only this film can make you emotionally attached to a single ant and cry when it passes 🥺

I really felt sorry for him because all he played were “loser” type characters in all the movies he was in
Super great comedian 😊
Ghostbusters, The Flinstones, Spaceballs, Little Giants. So many cool roles he completely owned
@@bookwormben yes, thank you for proving my point that he played a “loser” in all of those movies

I remember. 😢 I really miss it
I remember being like i being inside a matches box a matchbox right??
Wow!I remember that sneeze lol
oh my god i spent such a long time remembering this happening but forgetting what it actually was because i was so little 😮 thank you random commenter
Yeah, but nobody sees that anymore.
The saddest part of the movie is when the ant is hurt and killed by the scorpion
This movie doesn't get enough love.
It’s a bit scary when you look back on it

I remember watching this when it first came out at the cinema (as an 8 year old kid). And yes, I was blown away by the special effects :).
Honey I shrunk the kids favorite childhood movie 🎥 . Definitely a classic 🤠. Hollywood don't make movies like this anymore.
I loved this movie as a kid. It came out just before I passed that “too old for kids movies” age, so it’s a special one for me.
Nice one, Ellie & Mish! This great little movie still keeps its entertainment value even now, compared to so many more recent films that I don't think will age half so well, by comparison.
NEED to do honey we shrunk ourselves!!!!!
It's been more years than I care to accept as reality since I saw this movie so I had forgotten most of it lol. Nice nostalgia trip.

The practical effects in this movie were great, but man this is bringing back all the sad memories of the ant's death though 😥
The summer of 1989 was great - Batman, Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade, The Abyss, Lethal Weapon 2, Licence To Kill, and this.

Hi guys 🙂 I really loved your reaction to this great movie 🤗 I love you guys, but that white car was not a WW Beatle, it was a Volvo PV... 🤣🤣🤣
Rick Moranis is a natural treasure. I'm surprised he still alive, though.
He’s only 70
Loved this as a Kid and the ANT😞
This is hilarious, especially when the mother faints 🤣

Ladies watch the 2 sequels not as Popular as the original but also good especially Honey We Shrunk Ourselves
There was also a TV show published after, set between the first and second movies. It had a different cast, but went on for even 3 seasons.

For a 90's movie.. the special effects are better than the crap CGI movie's been doing these days! I'm impressed
When you think about it, the movie is pretty scary
Did you ever think you'd be crying over an ant? 😁 This movie (and its sequels) started a spin-off TV series of the same name that was really fun!
Make sure you watch the 2nd one. Honey I blew up the kid
I really enjoyed French class.
