Hi and welcome to the first Tokyo Cafe Hopping vlog of 2024! In this vlog, we explore the world of kissaten. This was a requested video by a subscriber and I figured that now was as good a time as any to get to it. Kissaten rose to fame during the Showa Period due to the amount of coffee that was imported, others say it was when Japanese cafe culture as we know it today started. Kissaten are a great place for solo dates or intimate hangouts. I hope that on your trip to Japan, you'll be able to visit one :)

A kissaten looks more high end than a regular cafe. The cream soda and pudding look yum.
Surprisingly some kissaten are even cheaper than regular cafes! Definitely worth trying once. 😍💖

Do these kissatens usually have English menus by any chance? What's the experience like for non-Japanese speakers? Would love to visit a few on my next visit to Japan.
Always enjoy the cafe hopping videos. It’s so relaxing and Kissaten are so unique. I live in a rural area so these videos are so interesting to me.

@@heidisarol I honestly just enjoy any type of video you make. I think it’s interesting to see what Japan is like and how you are able to go out and enjoy whatever city you want to go to. I’m still in school and live with my parents so it’s nice seeing someone else go out and explore and have fun.
Maybe a video about what you do for work and what working in Japan is like would be something new to add. I want to work in Japan one day so it’ll be interesting.
