Why is that? Do you get involved in politics? Are you a member of a political party? No to both in my case, but then by not doing anything for politics, I really don't have the right to complain about people who do get involved.

The PISA statistics sampled 3,257 students in Scotland and 4,763 pupils in England. Anyone notice anything odd about those numbers?
Also, the UK Government's Department of Education analysis of PISA for 2022 noted and I quote "England did not meet 2 of the 82 PISA Technical Standards.Analysis of the characteristics of the pupils who participated revealed that the final sample had somewhat higher academic attainment on average than the general population and a somewhat lower proportion of pupils who had been eligible for freeschool meals in the past 6 years. To say healthcare is better in Scotland necessitates explaining why *health outcomes* are worse.

I now live in London having graduated from my home city of Aberdeen. That was in 1988. One of my contemporaries was a great guy Called Bob Salmond the younger brother of Alec. Sad to say I could see where all this was going. We studied history and we were paired a few times in the Scottish History Tutorials under the marvellous guidance and tutelage of Dr Terry Brotherstone. To the point. The younger Salmond was in step with the former Head Man and his writings reflected the one train of thought - total Independence with no quarter given. The Salmonds and then Sturgeon a facsist were a cross between William Wallace and Robert the Bruce and plunged ahead with gay abandon and just could never listen to any reasoned argument. They were full on. And now we have a mess. A mess of gigantic consequences. Reflecting on my experience I found Terry an amazing individual and I was blessed being in the presence of a wonderful human being. If you read this Terry, all my best regards to you. I was there between 1984 and 1988.

The Greens in the Scottish government didn't want to work with the SNP in the first place when they joined the rolling Scottish government they wanted thing done their way or the highway. It has never been an agreement. They never really wanted independence for Scotland. Lorna Slater herself said that she'd be quite happy to join the Labour Party to form a government.
What a crying shame that Scotland is being mismanaged in such a tragic way. I can only hope that the Scottish people can eventually bring this to a halt as soon as humanely possible, this is terrible.

If everyone worked together for the benefit of all the people of Scotland and the Island in general, then everyone would be better for it. Andrew Neil has much political insight to give. He is on par with Peter Adre with his observations on current political flows, and his ability to see consequences of decisions are up their with Po from the teletubbies. Also good to see him still getting work after advocating for Brexit and then off-shoring himself and his family to France. Top class act.

There is no real analysis about what is and isn't working relative to other parts of the UK. There are lessons to be learned, one of which I would argue is that what ever your identity politics where it is pro or anti EU, pro or anti union you have to execute the day to day management of services effectively. There are clear parallels here with the Tory government in Westminster but it does suit the Times agenda to draw attention to that.
Of course it had nothing to do with Tory rule at Westminster! Nothing like exaggerating what is happening at Holyrood. The Scottish Government have improved life in Scotland despite the shackles of Westminster. Should Holyrood ever be controlled by Labour we will soon be able to judge the competence of others.
