I just heard Eric passed away this weekend, Thank you for the Raspberries and wonderful memories through you amazing songs that were part of my early teen years, and that have stood the test of time!! R.I.P. Eric
People will be listening these guys in 100 years. I cannot ever get enough of this honey flowing through my ears. Thank you Dave Smalley, Wally Bryson, Jim Bonfanti, and oh yeah, Eric Carmen.
Mesmerising! I could listen to this, and watch his hands on the piano keys over and over. I still find it hard to believe that he is gone. Miss you Eric😢❤
Eric Carmen is and was one of the most underrated treasures in the history of american popular music. This guy had it all. Great voice, virtuoso piano chops and great songwriting ability.
If you are one of those out there that thinks Eric Carmen is just Dirty Dancing, just give this a look...Just watch him sing, play and perform his heart out...Of course he wrote this. If you have any appreciation for sheer talent, you will be a new fan looking for more saying "How could I not know about this guy???"
What a fantastic song. That piano melody...Mmmm. They sounded amazing, and Eric was a musical genius. It's really hard knowing we won't hear him play anymore. He should be here. 💔
I was just groovin to “If You Change your Mind” (my favorite ) & the Rasberries concert at The House of Blues on YT this month. Huge loss to the music world, and each of us who’ve been fans for Decades. Condolences to Eric’s family & friends. Eric made such beautiful, sad, yet also powerful rock guitar symphonies all at once. The Raspberries, and Eric’s songs always gave me the chills over the decades since I heard them first come out on the radio. Voices and music of that rare kind of band that lift my spirits no matter what life throws my way. But gotta admit this is the worst part of a being in a rock/melody love affair, when a Muse is called back to Heaven. My heart is broken and I can only be so thankful to have lived & listened to the best bands and singers during the best rock and roll era. Eric and The Raspberries will always be pure gold…you bet I’m listening tonight and for as long as I live. Rock on, Eric. -Stormphoenix
I remember as a kid in high school saw this on television late at night...and I was amazed ...unbelievable music...I was hooked...still strong and excellent compared to much of todays music
Love and peace. You will be remembered by fans like me who appreciated all your song writing and wonderful voice. You passed peacefully i hope to see you on the other side. Fan for a long time. God bless your children 🙏☮️💕😂
Talk about a group whose life was cut short. I know there was a bubblegum image they had. But they were not deserving that bad rap. This song is simply one of my favorites of all times. Thanks guys!
They really were mis-labeled even by record company management & media. No way that these guys were even close to the bubblegum repertoire!!! This song here is a rock band epic!
That was awesome! The Raspberries had to have been one of the best things in the 70's. I also loved a group called The Stories, and the mighty Badfinger!!!
"I Can Remember," that song still reminds me of a "high school" love I lost in 1972. Funny that it was in "September" when we met... That makes it even more meaningful. One of the most beautiful songs ever written and a song I believe anyone who was in love and lost that "other" can relate to.I saw the band at Hilton High School, Hilton, NY in 1974 without Eric. I was in high school in 1969 when the Raspberries came out. Got all their albums. yes "Vinyl." Remember the "Scratch and Sniff" Raspberry sticker on the first album? Beautiful, fun songs. The pop songs were great but so were the "heart-felt" ones Beautiful, Creative music. Thanks for posting! ❤
Great footage of one of rock history's most underrated bands of all time. This song is them at their best, even if it is mostly Eric Carmen. Eric Carmen was the heart of The Raspberries and a very great artist in his own right. One of the most talented guys of his era. I'd rate Eric right up there with Stevie Wonder and Todd Rundgren as far as being an all-around artist. This was by far the Raspberries best song in my humble opinion.
Mega, mega group who produced some of the finest music ever - Eric Carmen is a genius. This number combines so many musical genres in one unbelievable performance. Thanks so much for post.
This group was soooooo underrated. I can still listen the the "Best of" on vinyl and how each song runs into the next. Then finishes with this song. It is such a climatic ending. Wonder who Eric was writing this for?
Planktontwo, Actually, I wrote this song after the breakup with my girlfriend in 71. I gave it to Eric Carmen while he and the Raspberries were recording at Criteria studios in No. Miami. I told him that he and the Rasp's were the ones I wanted to record this song since the Beatles had already broken up, but I did send a copy and a tape of the song to McCartney, but he wrote back to me that it wasn't he's style.
Incredible how well they did this live. A beautiful song that I play a lot to this day, thanks to CD's. I can still remember buying the album when it first came out!
A beautiful arrangement, well written and dynamic. The movement in the piano is expressive. I always love the various pression from one movement to another so splendidly
Indeed this was always a favorite of mine...along with Eric's solo number, Sunrise, which also deserved more airplay and recognition than it got because it was "too long" for pop radio.
A well-crafted song. While many composers work with just 1 or 2 short melody phrases, pay attention that they work with 3 in just one song. And the bridge between one phrase to another is fantastic. At the end you got a terrific song. Enhanced by the talent of Raspberries. It hardly coulb be better.
Brilliant now and then. The rest of my earlier on-target detailed comment was poofed for some reason but pointing out this rock and roll brilliance from any era stands up and is all that need to be said.
The biggest positive of this is that this is by far the best video shot from above showing us BOTH of Eric’s masterful hands on the piano keyboard!!!! 🎹 Priceless!
All the teen angst at 13 in my room singing and dancing. Lite candles and incense I did alone well. Still do. No 8track cell phone. I miss security. And my Daddy.
I had all The Raspberry albums as a teenage. I remember seeing this unforgettable performance on TV - was it Don Kirschner’s Rock Concert? - and have never forgotten it. Thank you preserving it.
Never saw this live video version before. It is wonderful to have it posted here. This performance really shows what a tour de force of musicianship was here.
This version was actually better than the record. I remember recording the audio of this on a cassette recorder, I loved it so much I played it back all night. For years that old mono cassette was the only version I had until I found it on Eric's website in the early 2000's.
Entranced. Perfect way to describe watching Eric Carmen perform. No other can begin to emulate Eric’s raw emotion when he’s performing! Just as you said...”mesmerizing.!” There will never be another performer like Eric Carmen. If I was granted 3 wishes, seeing The Raspberries and watching Eric perform would definitely be one of my wishes.
Thanks Phili´pCarol for nice video As a Euorpean I love to see anything with Eric or the Rasperries. We can not listen them here but I think the old songs still can do it for us or any other music fan!
I for one of many, am glad you did find their video(s). Like yourself, I became charmed when I first heard their Best of Collection and I thought "who are these guys", and WHY DID THEY NEVER receive the attention they deserved?? I mean I remember the Raspberries, but not for all they did.
@Brian Allen Little did they know Joe would become a legend. My older cousin was also at Kent, same time as Joe. She was sunbathing on her dorm roof and witnessed the shootings. I remember the FBI coming to my aunt's house to get a statement from my cousin.
TY 4 posting. I have all 3 of their albums, just wish I had a good old turntable. Have so many LP's I can't listen to. Love The Raspberries and Eric Carmen solo.
All four albums are available on CD, though new copies are a little more difficult to come by these days. And you can even find them on iTunes if you don't want to go tracking down hard copies.
well...those of us who are old enough to remember 1971 will remember The Raspberries....this song featured Eric......and he should have gotten the camera time
I have always loved this beautiful song. What a gem indeed Tonyo. Let me also say thank you for sharing it. The Cleveland 4 were extremely under rated in the music industry. We need more like them, let me tell you.
Very nice documentation Philip. I could not agree with you more on how I feel about the group. Good to see many others feel the same way I do about the lack of respect they received. Again, thanks for sharing the video
Damn, listen to the "forgotten" band members here. Dave Smalley, bass and survived being shot down and surrounded in a gunship chopper in Vietnam, Wally Bryson one the best Rickenbacker 12 string players ever, and drummer Jim Bonfanti who held it together for years.
when I saw them in carnegie hall, 73, he was using a black ovation electric for most of that show, and the 12 string was a double neck gibson, also in black
saw them open for Blood , Sweat & Tears. crowd was horrible booing telling them to get off stage. Raspberries were true professionals played their entire set .I really enjoyed them. when BS&T finally hit the stage the crowd was in for a shock they had a new singer and it wasn't David Clayton Thomas . that's what you get for booing Raspberries
+Bob F. are you serious man? I would of slapped the shit out of the crowd, while I can admit I enjoy some Blood sweat and tears no doubt, they were not on Carmen's level of producing such perfect quality songs. The piano the voice the backing, its perfection happening at its finest. As you say they appeared to be great professionals, I envy you for having the opportunity to see an inspiration of mine live. Carmen is a big part in my music development next to Clapton, Beatles, Brian Wilson.
That is ridiculous. Bet that would not happen today. Besides, I would much rather see a Raspberries reunion tour vs. BS& T. Bet a lot more feel the same way.
I think the Raspberries got stuck with the tag "Beatles/Beach Boys Clones." This really was a shortsighted view of the entire scope of their worth in the history of rock and roll. This band had some nice stuff such as "Go All The Way" and "I Wanna Be With You," which were anthems on a par with almost anything else from the late 60s and early 70s.
I just heard Eric passed away this weekend, Thank you for the Raspberries and wonderful memories through you amazing songs that were part of my early teen years, and that have stood the test of time!! R.I.P. Eric
RIP ERIC ❗😢 74 years old is Still DONE TOO SOON ‼️😞🙏🏼🛐
Eric is the ultimate on piano 🎹 his skill makes each song 🎵 magical!
People will be listening these guys in 100 years. I cannot ever get enough of this honey flowing through my ears. Thank you Dave Smalley, Wally Bryson, Jim Bonfanti, and oh yeah, Eric Carmen.
Marvellous music!!!
Thanks RASPBERRIES
Great album I bought in 1976 every song hits the mark
Brilliant, simply brilliant. And timeless.
My god his music/their music is as good as it gets.
What an awesome voice. Beautiful!!! Instrumentally fantastic!! Long live them all!
Mesmerising! I could listen to this, and watch his hands on the piano keys over and over. I still find it hard to believe that he is gone. Miss you Eric😢❤
This man....this song, is unbelievable. He was pure genius, with everything. Eric, you are so missed and loved. Thank you for your music.
Eric Carmen is and was one of the most underrated treasures in the history of american popular music. This guy had it all. Great voice, virtuoso piano chops and great songwriting ability.
Yes and even John Lennon loved them.
I love this ballad!❤
What a fantastic song. That piano melody...Mmmm. They sounded amazing, and Eric was a musical genius. It's really hard knowing we won't hear him play anymore. He should be here. 💔

Songs of Eric Carmen made my teen years magical and they are still magical. We love you Eric ❤️🙂

Power Ballads didn't exist before this!
The industry owes a debt of gratitude to Eric and the boys
This is a perfect example of improving on the original product in a live setting.
Never got into these guys till the 90s.Carmen is a supertalent. He works his ass off here and hits on every note....
Eric Carmen is so underrated, and sadly the Raspberries almost forgotten in England. Great to see stuff like this on You Tube
"I Can Remember," that song still reminds me of a "high school" love I
lost in 1972. Funny that it was in "September" when we met... That makes it even more meaningful. One of the most beautiful songs ever written and a song I believe anyone who was in love and lost that "other" can relate to.I saw the band at Hilton High School, Hilton, NY in 1974 without Eric.

This song was my #1 favorite by Eric and The Raspberries. I Can Remember crying many times along to this song over a lost love. Thank you, Eric.
Very sweet.
Eric Carmen ......genius!
😢RIP Eric... This is one of my favorite songs.
Great footage of one of rock history's most underrated bands of all time. This song is them at their best, even if it is mostly Eric Carmen.

one of the very best Eric Carmen songs. Polished to a T
Eric is a musical genius.
Éric le plus grand chanteur de ses années 70
Éric je vous adore
Mega, mega group who produced some of the finest music ever - Eric Carmen is a genius. This number combines so many musical genres in one unbelievable performance. Thanks so much for post.
GREAT SONG,,and Songwriter!/Eric Carman
RIP brother. You were a major part of the soundtrack to my life.
Mine too, in Panama in '72 I thought The Raspberries and Badfinger ruled back then.Imho.
Éric j’ai découvert quelques unes de vos
Chansons tellement elles sont belles
C’est à tomber par terre
Mon dieu quel talent
Éric Je vous adore
This is my favorite Raspberries song. It would have been nice to see more of Wally, Jim & Dave but...I could watch Eric play piano all day!!!
This group was soooooo underrated. I can still listen the the "Best of" on vinyl and how each song runs into the next. Then finishes with this song. It is such a climatic ending. Wonder who Eric was writing this for?

juan alt Bullshit.
john alt Who came up with the Rachmaninov style piano in the song?...it's a great touch!
Then why is Eric credited as the songwriter on this? I know it's not polite to assume someone is lying but I also call bullshit on your claim.
Donna Castello I agree with you, I think Mr. Alt is an "I wish it was me" kind of guy wanting to live famously in Utube comment land.
I don't care what anyone else posts, this group touched my 14 year old heart, and this video brings back that feeling...........THANK YOU!!!!
Incredible how well they did this live. A beautiful song that I play a lot to this day, thanks to CD's. I can still remember buying the album when it first came out!
A beautiful arrangement, well written and dynamic. The movement in the piano is expressive. I always love the various pression from one movement to another so splendidly
This song talk albout my sweet childhood !! Love in the air forever !! One of my favorites, and band as well !!!
Great song and played well. Thete will never be another band like the Raspberries
It is awesome.Eric Carmen is soooo talented.so sad I never got to see them in concert,Im sure it will never happen now.So sad!

One of the most beautiful songs my ears have been blessed to hear!
Wow! What a performance!...and what an absolutely beautiful song. I watch this video over and over. Wish I could have been there.
Cette chanson est tellement belle et touchante à la fois
Ça me fend le cœur ♥️
Éric vous êtes un génie
De tout les temps
Éric je vous adore
Несомненно! Эрик Кармен - музыкальный гений равных которому мало.
I wish I was listening to music back in the early 70s. I think I missed out on some good stuff. I'm diggin' Eric's sound and style.
He is so handsome. His face is so perfect at the end of this video. He looks like a male model
No one loves you as much as me
Fantastic band that does not get the credit it deserves.
beautiful song
Love this song! Thanks for the memories, Eric!
Never saw this live video version before. It is wonderful to have it posted here. This performance really shows what a tour de force of musicianship was here.
Ridiculously Epic...
Hey, I am a huge fan of Eric and Raspberries and I thought your comment was well stated and just fantastic. Agree 110%
Great performance from Eric and the boys. One of my fave Raspberries songs. Epic ballad! :)

Take me back in time and no doubt l would have seen them in concert 💘 live
I have all their brilliant albums and all Eric Carmen too
One of their absolute best. Too bad they only stayed together 5 years.
I love this.
Incredible talents! Eric Carmen is so wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe Eric is so weet,
LONG LIFE TO ERIC CARMEN!!!
Incredible song !!!!
I'll be seeing the boys next week at the Highline Ballroom in NYC. Looking forward.
Just LOVE it, not too many close ups of Eric at all, maybe the camera was as entranced as we are... just mesmerizing....
Would have been right on to see the rest of the band as well
Entranced. Perfect way to describe watching Eric Carmen perform. No other can begin to emulate Eric’s raw emotion when he’s performing! I love you Eric. Thanks for wonderful music.
I love being from Cleveland, I grew up with this, and cleveland rocks
Wow! You had Eric Carmen and The Raspberries in your high school gym! You were so lucky. I’d love to go back to those times.
@Brian Allen What school Brian?
@Brian Allen Little did they know Joe would become a legend. My older cousin was also at Kent, same time as Joe. She was sunbathing on her dorm roof and witnessed the shootings. I remember the FBI coming to my aunt's house to get a statement from my cousin.
love this Ericcccc
TY 4 posting. I have all 3 of their albums, just wish I had a good old turntable. Have so many LP's I can't listen to. Love The Raspberries and Eric Carmen solo.
They did put out four albums. Should try to find the 4th one.
All four albums are available on CD, though new copies are a little more difficult to come by these days. And you can even find them on iTunes if you don't want to go tracking down hard copies.
though the song is painfully long and the old video sounded lie an old am radio;the song itself was excellent.reminded me of my high school days.
Im a classically trained pianist and i
love this song and also composer
He is cute ......... he has a beautiful face ........ !!!
well...those of us who are old enough to remember 1971 will remember The Raspberries....this song featured Eric......and he should have gotten the camera time
thank you for this beatiful video!
In '73 I was a high school sophomore with the Raspberries tape in my portable 8track player....ohhhh yeah
a voz de eric carmem ao piano nesta musica . linda interpretacao.magico som...
Amazing times! I'm so glad to have grown up in that era. Kids now have no idea.....
I have always loved this beautiful song. What a gem indeed Tonyo. Let me also say thank you for sharing it. The Cleveland 4 were extremely under rated in the music industry. We need more like them, let me tell you.

This predates Bohemian Rapsody, and should be better known as one of the great rock anthems of the 70s
Yep I'd say you summed it up
when I saw them in carnegie hall, 73, he was using a black ovation electric for most of that show, and the 12 string was a double neck gibson, also in black
The Raspberries were great at the highline 10/13
masterpiece
SUPER!!! 🇧🇷🎧
this takes me back to an old black and white movie
Too many closeups of Eric Carmen? Not possible.
super power pop!!!!
saw them open for Blood , Sweat & Tears. crowd was horrible booing telling them to get off stage. I never liked DCT anyway. The original BST was the bomb.
