Southeast Alaska isn't brutally cold. It's almost always near freezing in winter. Brutal cold is interior eastern Alaska where I've seen it 70-75 below. Where a wooden axe handle splits as it hits a piece of firewood.

They're meant to do that. It's adjustable. If you'd like to have them swing separately from your heels, unclip them. If you want them to be attached to your heels, clip them.

Not much beats, herring eggs on the branch… with some soy sauce. And some fry bread with seal grease…some deer stew…. Smoked salmon and that purple blueberry dessert… i forgot what it is… but alaskan blueberrys, some diced up fruit… o yah, ice cream, the fresh homemade stuff made outta snow was my favorite…. yah… good stuff…
Having liver there for some years it is certainly not the environment he is describing. Certainly we did get a lot of snow but the temps are moderate year round. Obviously he was high up but the city is at sea level.
Yes I've noticed that. Ever since visiting Ketchikan on a cruise I added it to my weather app to compare it to where I live in the Ozarks. Ketchikan is on average ten degrees cooler in the summer, ten degrees warmer in the winter, and only rains little more than our weather. I would love to live in Ketchikan.

Thought it was a little weird that they blurred it out like we wouldn’t know it’s a Canada goose. They might be worth every penny though. Some expensive brands have amazing quality standards and some suck. Pretty much how it is for every type of product/industry.
