Wonderful playing. Zabaleta was one of the best harpists ever!! A wonderful musician too. He was also a pupil of my teacher,LUISA MENARGUEZ. NEVER WILL BE ANOTHER ONE LIKE HIM. I MISS HIM VERY MUCH.

Why did he never go and study with Salzedo, his compatriot? It has never made sense to me; was it pride or egotism? He would have been phenomenal if he had. I most like Zabaleta's classical/baroque side, and his playing of Spanish composers. In general, he had a tendency to play music far too fast, covering up sloppy playing and shallowness with speed.

When will your recordings all be on RUclips? Did you ever perform Guridi's La Del Alba Seria? And finally, whatever became of Zabaleta's daughter Stella?

The genius of this piece outshines every different arrangement of it. It is superior in every way to J.S. Bach's Italian Concerto, which is very similar, and I think served as an inspiration for it.

This is labeled incorrectly. He played it as a sonata, not in the "original" order of the movements. Nor was he Basque, he was Jewish, though from San Sebastian, perhaps. He was not influential in that he never formed a teaching school. He had an exemplary performing career despite many deficiencies in his playing. As for the style of this piece, it is very much in the Italian genre, just like J.S. Bach's Italian Concerto.
