    I would love to see them do another album together and go on tour! It's fantastic music, and the Mountain is one of my all time favorite albums. Love to put the CD in the car stereo and blast out Harlan Man!!! Wooeeee. New Englanders love Bluegrass too! :)

    It's nice to see Steve cleaned up and sober and doing what he does best, play that guitar and delight up with that wonderful voice. Del is no slouch either ..lol

    I wish they would do a second album together. The Mountain was magic. I've seen Steve 7 or 8 times. Always great. I've seen Del twice. God, how fantastic! Watching Ronnie playing mandolin up close is breathtaking.

    This is Steve in my favorite Steve setting. As for Del and the Boys, saw them at a bluegrass festival at a holiday inn in naperville, Ill. some years back. Great show. Even greater was the young McCoury's, Mike Bub and Jason Carter jammin after the show in the lobby until they finally kicked everyone out. What a great night.

    Shit, there's a 8700 foot peak in TX.
    Some of the best Bluegrass picking I ever heard (I grew up in Western Kentucky) was in the East TX piny woods.
    Steve is playing again this year at HSB 9, in Golden Gate Park, Oct. 2-4. It's free, and everyone will be there. Y'all come!

    True, but I have read interviews where he said he would like to do another bluegrass album. He mentioned the Punch Brothers as possible collaborators. Still just the idea stage. I would love to hear it, but one of the things I love about him is his interest in different forms of music. Would love to hear him do a blues album as well.

    @diegopc79 Hello. All of my channel uploads were done specifically because I couldn`t find them commercially available to purchase. This clip was recorded off a TV presentation of the Sony Music sponsored show "Sessions At West 54th". There are some DVDs from the series available but as far as I know this particular show isn`t available. Do an internet search of "Sessions at West 54th" and good luck!

    No kidding, they were both at HSB 2012 in SF, CA and there was no sit in. I was really hoping. But either way Del and Steve killed both shows.

  • @darlincommitme

    It was Steve's bus. According to McGee's book on Earle's work, the McCoury's enjoyed the greater luxury of traveling with Steve.
    There was tension over Steve's language, and maybe politics, which didn't fit the bluegrass culture. Steve has said McCoury left over issues of who had more time on stage and billing at a festival. Ronnie told McGee that it was the language, but Del and Steve did "shake hands."
    On a later album, Steve says "there's no room in vulgarity for bluegrass."

  • @darlincommitme
    @darlincommitme 15 лет назад

    Oops - of course you are right. It was in response to McCoury who said the opposite in an interview.
    Thanks for the correction. Didn't make sense the way I wrote it!

    Del din't "break up the relationship" because of billing, he didn't like that Steve Earle said "fuck" over & over again on stage. I love Steve Earle & Del McCoury but he could've chilled his mouth a bit for the old guy. Please don't take this comment the wrong way, as I LOVE Steve Earle. I named my child after the man. He is the greatest songwriter of my generation but art is art & respect for your elders shouldn't take a back seat & neither should communication with your band mates?

  • @princessofhesse
    @princessofhesse 15 лет назад

    yeah, baby, it's called the Texas hill country, about 60 miles west of Austin, not huge hills, but gorgeous land, if i had millions, i would buy up every available inch and not let a developer near it...

  • @FreedomJunkie420

    Also, The Bluegrass Dukes, who came out to finish this tour after Del left, are amazing as well. Tim O'Brien, Darrel Scott, Casey Driessen & Dennis Crouch!! I seen both bands & really like them both but The Bluegrass Dukes had more soul than The Del McCoury Band. I've seen Del & The Boys alot & they're great but with Steve Earle it seemed that Del was just hoping it would end soon...

  • @nilradem

    Unless you were there, I don't think you can be sure. Steve says it was over billing. I expect the truth is somewhere in between - but Del's version is that he was worried about what more conservative bluegrass fans thought. He didn't say he was personally offended. Del himself is not conservative himself and not that much older than Steve.

  • @mdr1013
    @mdr1013 11 лет назад

    He doesn't want to be a full time bluegrass musician. Much like Neil Young, he follows the muse. Also, Del broke up that relationship, not Steve. Del didn't like the fact that Steve got top billing.
