You talked a lot about the sound differences between the plates, but you didn't mention all that much about how the board feels? Bouncy/flex/damped/ringing etc
Good point. I didn’t have much time really. I only had 3 days with this thing lol. I thought I’d focus on sound more since the community is up in the air about flex nowadays. For what it’s worth. You won’t be getting any bounce from this. It’s a standard gasket sock so typing isn’t the softness ever, definitely on the rigid side. Id say it’s comfortable. The only configuration that is pretty stiff is the brass plate. Difference between all the other plates is minimal you won’t notice unless your AB testing. Which is why I thought focusing on sound was the best way to distinguish between them. Plateless of course is the softest, but since the pcb is 1.6 adding any plate will make it immediately feel stiffer. In short, it’s definitely stiffer than the QK and meletrix stuff. Id say in the same “feel” realm as the Arc60.
Nah nah. I don’t ever take offense especially from you bro! It was a great question that is why I pinned it. Just in case other were wondering the same thing, I could give them my thoughts. ❤️❤️❤️
The thoroughness! I love your vids. You got a permanent follower for sure! Please keep up more vids so i can make a couple builds without having to spend a lot of money on stuff i might not like.
Damn that is wasup!!! I just pinned a comment where I was asked about feel. If your interested at checking that out. I’ll be covering my color shift edition as well!!!!
Have the doom switches gotten any better? I heard they fixed some of the issues, they were literally the pingiest switches I've ever heard even after lubing!
There is an updated version coming but these are the prior model. Keebfront sent these pre-lubed and no ping from what I can tell. Could still be a more updated version of the ones you had though
man some hot takes in this video, Brass over POM? Mad respect for real though, I can’t say I’ve used a brass plate, but I generally like POM, and have been coming around to Aluminum. How I feel about FR-4 just varies so much depending on the case / switches, sometimes it sounds nice and other times I find it very dull / muted. Appreciate the sound tests, I wonder if that PC bottom is also helping with resonance in this board.
True!!! PC bottom Will definitely help make things louder. I’m just not a POM guy but that doesn’t make it bad. I’d say I’m a very small percent of those that prefer brass. It was all the craze when I started so it holds a special place for me.
@@Akeynote I definitely saw more folks using brass plates when I started! I actually have heard some copper pate tests in the envoy that sounded really good! Definitely can appreciate the pull of nostalgia
@@ImOnMy116 if it wasn’t brass it was ass! Its crazy how quickly people’s mind change on things. We liked it stiffer but not too stiff like tray mount. Then we like it super flexy, now people would rather not want it flex and just sound better like before lmao.
@@Akeynote haha, for sure! maybe like fashion certain things will always end up coming back around in popularity. I heard someone say the other day they thought the no foam train had been going so hard that foam would end up coming back around again. Will admit I was guilty of jumping on the flex bandwagon (most of my current boards are built with a half plate or plateless), but I just millmaxed an H60 1.6mm no flex cut pcb and bought an alu plate for my bakeneko, and have been thinking about getting a full alu plate for my Sonnet, I need help, haha

@@Akeynote I just want to be clear, I wasn't criticizing you when I said you didn't mention it, I just want you to share more of your opinion! Thanks

Awesome, thank you!
Where did you get the big headphone volume knob? That is awesome...I'm looking for something like that, great setup sounds really good
Thanks I appreciate it. It’s the cyber blade from angry Miao.
this video is exactly what I was missing. I ordered weeks ago but now I need to buy that FR4 and Brass. Thank you @akeynote
That’s wasup I’m glad this helped you out.
Truly a beautifully keyboard which can achieve many different sound profiles
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for checking out the video!
The color and that brass plate 🔥🔥🔥
Hehehe
This video makes me pumped for the color shift edition I was lucky enough to buy! Definitely gonna grab a brass plate now

None of them sound different enough to bother screwing with it
This is very similar to MIKIT's DK65.
Never heard of it but this design has been in proto for like 9 months. Who knows who did it first!
How do you record the sound?
I use a mkh416 mounted about 12 inches from the keyboard. Plugged into a zoom F3 recorded in 32 bit float.
