The great thing about Nick Cave is you ask ten different fans what's their favourite 3 albums are and they will most likely give you 10 completely different answers. The bad seeds though deserves your full attention apart from songwriting Nick's other great talent is picking collaborators and as a collective they are an education in alternative rock with there other bands and solo projects. Also as a comparison would love you to check out Nick's original band The Birthday Party one of the wildest nasty badass rock n roll bands ever, prayers on fire there debut would be on my list
Please react to some more Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: • From her to eternity (a song about neighbourhood, from his first album with the Bad Seeds, title song) • I had a dream, Joe (some faster track) • Loverman (a nice song about a stalker and rapist) • Where the wild roses grow (featuring Kylie Minogue, yes, what a couple...; this song even hit the charts worldwide) • Hallelujah (not Nick's cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, that's fine too, but Nick's own Hallelujah about a writer's block) • We came along this road (nice first line, nice piano playing) • Fifteen feet of pure white snow (a winter song, or not?) • Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! (about careers) • Jubilee Street (adjacent to Penny Lane?) • Push the sky away (trance) • Stagger Lee (some rough language to say the least) • Time Jesum transeuntum et non riverentum (probably a track for Halloween; no worries, only the title is in Latin) • any song from the album “No more shall we part”
You definitely should check out Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ entire catalogue. He is a genius surrounded by complimentary musicians who really know how to set moods and tell stories through their music and Nick’s poetic writing.
You should do more Nick albums (so many), but seeing what you are liking, I'd be VERY interested to see what you think about Scott Walker. Start with Scott 1/2/3/4, Til the Band Comes In, Walker Brothers Nite Flights (especially side A), Climate of Hunter, Tilt, The Drift, Bisch Bosch, and Soused (with Sunno)))). I think you'd be blown away by how much he changed in his career...like 2 or 3 different artists...
We are talking Swans level works of art with Scott...you won't believe the transformation. I love your videos because you don't try hard to emulate to the camera...You are just you. Perfect. And your English seems very good to me...
I see you already did a mini Scott Walker review but you probably didn't know it as he is the disembodied male ghost voice singing along with Bat for Lashes during "The Big Sleep" on Two Suns.
Oh with what I have seen of your reactions would heartily recommend you check out tindersticks, einstruzende neubauten Blixa Bargeld the singer is a long time bad seed, Scott Walker and the divine comedy...also do you know Tom Waits at all Tom makes me happy
oooh this one is one of my favorites. Such a good Bad Seeds album. I love your Swans reviews but I also hope you get into the Bad Seeds. They're honestly very similar in a lot of ways, their artistic development and evolution is very reminiscent of the journey of Swans. by the way...when are you doing the next Swans album, The Seer? 🐺🐺
Yay I was hoping you'd do Nick Cave!
The Weeping Song is just iconic - it's a duet song with Blixa Bargeld from Einstürzende Neubauten. He was a member of The Bad Seeds back then.
The coolest bad seed and that's no mean feat
Nick Cave is amazing ! thanks
