    Such good advice. I have this exact problem, and for longer! Working on the forward and through. It's hard, but worth the change.

    Same here, finally improved my forehead after nearly 40years of playing. More power and stable now. Backhand was always more sound. String forward works. More “FaceTime” to the ball was the breakthrough for me. Thanks for sharing!

      So glad that’s helping! It’s been really hard for me to break the habit. Trying to change grip a little, but it’s definitely going to take some time for me to get through this. At least I know what the problem is :-)

    Thank you so much for your video. I have literally been battling with the same issue that you talked about, and I have watched numerous videos about how not to be late to contact the ball on my forehead.
    My two-handed backhand is strong, but that is because the racket is on edge.
    I cannot thank you enough for your very simplistic explanation and I cannot wait to try and implement that with my forehead

    I also hit my backhand more consistently than my forehand too and I have been wondering why. Thanks for the tips and will definitely try your suggestion!

    I thinks you and I we live in parallel universes because what I am trying to do is the exact opposite of what you are doing!
    I have been hitting the ball with the strings facing forward for years but the ball keeps flying out and long.
    Now for about two weeks I swing with the edge of the racket leading and behold! , the ball goes over the net then dips down past the service line.
    😮Go figure!

    I fixed my forehand by hitting with other good hitters. I have a good group and another group with strange feeds and shots with weird sidespin. The top group, it's a must to hit square and fat on the strings to keep up and give back. The worse group is never "on" when I give pace. Telling me they don't hit clean and are all "edge forward".

      I was once practicing with young players. I have a weird forehand, hitting not clean, too much spin, too high, not able to hit with power.. One of my friends wasn’t improving much his own game when practicing with me. I was stronger, has I had a lot of variation in my game (I play a lot of drop shots). When I left the club this friend began to play regularly with a talented junior (who was very good as soccer). Both were hitting clean, and in one year both improved massively.

    Thank you for this video. I have a strong forehand however I’ve dropped a ton of balls in the net for the last 3 or 4 months. I tried to put more spin on the balls and while it helped some it wasn’t the answer. Backhand rarely goes in net. Watched this video and the light went on. Tried it today and hit so much better. Unfortunately I tore my calf muscle serving. At least though I’ll have a positive feeling to go back to when back out there.

    To me players that have their strings facing the ball(drop the racquet on edge rather that pat the dog), like Del Po, Tsitisipas, and Rublev, are the simplest and best models to follow.

      Exactly! I just can’t get that figured out with my brain haha. I wish I knew this when I started playing as I am having trouble duplicating it.

      @teachyourselftennis I have also just recently figured this out and am working on more on edge drop like the 3 players I mentioned. They still get just as much racquet lag, which is the key. I think we all got obsessed with the Fed, Rafa, Sinner, Grigor, Kyrgios, Sock, and so many that have either the Pat the dog, or even strings facing completely the other way preparation with the massive external rotation, which does create a massive flip of the racquet. It looks cool. But it is certainly much more complicated and I do not think it creates any more racquet lag.

    The only advice I have for you is to copy rogers forehand its fundementals are solid and the forehand generates a lot of power and spin and is quite reliable since I started playing tennis I have been trying to imitate his forehand and finally after like 4 years I can proudly say that my forehand is really good actually my top shot and can do everything from that swing I can go for winners I can play pure defencivly with lots of spin I can also play passively just generating back the pace if for example I am tired in a match to go for shots the only drawback that I have seen is that it requires a lot of timing due to to the swing lag and if you are a little bit late it may cause some errors but if you practise that enough those will be rare as well

      Until you start your forward swing yes. But getting parallel to the net with your racquet head on contact point is critical and getting there linearly will help with miss hits.
