That’s so awesome that you got to see a Thick-Billed Mure!! I love watching them dive and flick their wings back like you said.

It honestly looks so funny and uncoordinated how they do it

Can't wait to see your video on Edwin B. Forsythe. One of my favorite places to go birding.

I'm so glad you guys got to see the Thick-billed Murre. I haven't gone up to see it. I'm sorry you missed the Red-flanked Bluetail. April 5th would have been 4 months of the bird visiting Harry and Nancy's yard. It stopped coming about a week before that. I admire your dedication to travel to see Lifer birds.

We’re very glad we got it too! Happy it happened to be there while it was showing well

Spotted him/her on 4/11 while doing fieldwork in Bayonne. Weather was crappy so the murre was close to shore. Was suprised bc i had not heard of it in the area at that point. Now it’s my phone background.

Hi there, I’m the guy who found this rarity on 4/5 in Elizabeth. eBird reviewer for Union County. My son’s account. First off, thank you for visiting Elizabeth and I’m glad you had a successful chase. Re comment by Olympic, if you are on eBird, please submit a checklist with your Bayonne sighting. I have reported the bird flying into Hudson County and past well known landmarks but you are the sole individual to spot it from Bayonne/Hudson County proper. Many thanks to all of you.

Never seen a TBMU but I was able to see some common murres on the west coast last year. Glad you guys could find it!

We were able to see those in Oregon last year but at more of a distance than this bird!

Surreal seeing you guys birding somewhere I just was. This bird wasn't a lifer for me but it was the first one I ever got to observe up close, so I visited it a few times. Sorry y'all missed the red-flanked bluetail... you'll just have to get the next one!

We’ll see where the next one pops up. It doesn’t really feel like a miss since it was gone well before we got there and didn’t even search for it

I live near Seattle and don't often chase rare birds, but I was fortunate to see a Red flanked blue tail jut 3 miles from home. I'm glad you had an opportunity to see the murre.

Hard to say because there are so many that we want to see. Some iconic ones for me (Ryan) are Kiwi, Northern Pygmy Owl, Elf Owl just to name a few.

I was in New York a fee days ago. You usually expect pigeons and housesparrows only but that is not the case! I got about 25 lifers. With my favorite being a Black Crowned Night Heron and a bluejay. Yeah a bluejay i know they are common for Americans but not for me as a european. Such beautiful birds with such beautiful colors. Im now back home in the Netherlands and im very happy with the beautiful birds that I saw and i hope to go to florida to go birding someday.

That is a tiny cute bird!! The way it looks floating on the water you could be forgiven for thinking it WAS a penguin - though, maybe a Fairy Penguin by the size, ha!
We've said bye to our passers-through for the spring here I think, no more chickadees or killdeer. BUT! In a hilarious bit of nonsense my orange cat got bopped on the head by a very brave Eastern Towhee - which is a brand new bird for my yard at least! I wish I could've got a picture, it was too funny -
Looking forward to seeing everything new YOU guys find (found?) along the eastern coast!

Super little bird. Glad you guys got to see them. Remember seeing them breeding on the arctic island of Hornoya off the north east coast of Norway. Keep up the good work.
