- The time has come to start selling some of my complete Scream Factory Collection. In the First Leaving the Dungeon Episode, I am pulling 10 Scream Factory titles off the shelf that I no longer want in the collection. This was hard for me to do, having the entire collection, but it was time.

Quality over quantity!
Good for you Pops. You dont have to get everything. At this point, I'm just grabbing the slip 4K Collector's Editions and that's it from Scream Factory. That money can go to more quality Collector's editions from other companies. Great video and series idea!
I've been curating my collection too, Pops. You're doing the right thing. It's psychologically cleansing.
I've been collecting movies since I was a kid with VHS. I've had to prune my collection over the years for a variety of reasons (moving, space, hardship, etc) and honestly, once you make the leap it gets so much easier and looking at a curated collection of films you actually enjoy is much more satisfying. I just had to add more 2 more shelfs so I curated the collection got rid over 100 titles that aren't worth keeping. I don't mind double dipping sometimes but right now trying to upgrade all my dvds.

The Scream factory Collector's editions were what got me back into collecting and I tried to get them all too until it got ridiculous and the 4k releases of films I tried hard hard to get make me plain stop caring 😂 good on you.
Can't blame you Pops, those are WAY too expensive for what they are. If Vestron released them, they would have better special features, a great slip cover, and only be about 13 bucks.
The 4k re releases for movies I love have me really struggling not to double dip on all my older Blu ray special editions but those at least are films I know I will rewatch.
Yeah I get you Pops. I’ve never been a completionist but collecting for so long, you run out of room. I used to buy titles I knew, blind buy and what I didn’t like just went out the door. I looked at it as a rental. At some point, everything just started staying for collecting purposes. In my case, the flood I had helped me. I had to sell things to pay for repairs so yeah once I made the first sale, it got easier. Grated there were titles there that I sold wanting to keep but needed the money. Some of those I’ve gotten back, others I won’t. I can live with that. Good video man. If you post the titles on IG I’ll share it to help out.

Right on man... Curation is your friend! I like this new series idea, so I'll be looking forward to watching future installments. I'm all about curating myself, even though I also do a lot of blind buying. One of my big pet peeves personally is having movies in my collection that I don't really like. I think you hit on some really good points; I totally understand and respect the completionist deal, but I also want my collection to be a reflection of my tastes and the movies I love. After all, our collections are part of our identity, right? So I have no problem with getting rid of lemons when I encounter them... for the sake of the "purity" of my collection LMAO! 🤣😉
Anyway, good luck with this endeavor brother... I know this has got to be a little tough with all the time, energy and investment you've put into acquiring all these. But you're absolutely right... not everything from Scream Factory is solid gold. And at the prices they're charging for some of this bare-bones crap, it is getting a bit ridiculous.
BTW, for what it's worth, I'm not really into the "old" Hollywood films either (the classic black and white stuff, etc). My cut-off seems to be right around 1970... I don't usually get into too many films that were released before then (with a few exceptions, like Psycho or 2001). So you're definitely not alone in that regard!

Watching this definitely makes me feel a certain way toward being a completist. I’ve wrestled with all of these thoughts as well for a while. I won’t sell off what I already have. But I went through and decided which labels and collections I want to continue to collect or try and be complete on. That school spirit movie I did want to eventually grab. But yeah I can’t keep collecting stuff I’ll never watch. I have so much of it.
Yeah too many great titles to collect to buy stuff that has a high probability of being something you don’t like.
This is why I have always been a collector, not a completist. Are you going to be selling on EBay?

yea i have a ton of shit i need to get rid of because i know i wont watch it again ever or even worse will not even watch once. the trouble is its hard to pick what to get rid of even though i wont watch it......alot of the time i just think the cover art is cool
Yeah man, definitely get out of that mindset of being a completionist. That's a dangerous road to go down because all you're doing is wasting money on titles you have no interest in. Just pick and choose with the labels and buy films that you know you'll like and rewatch. By the way, just subbed to your channel.
