This practice of asension in stupas, pyramids, etc, having energy rise through the bottom, the spine and through the head, is all reminiscent of kundalini yoga practices. the goal is to stimulate the pineal gland system with lots of bio energy ( focus and attention required to accumulate and expand this energy into the head ). The pineal gland is essentially hit with a high voltage of energy ( focus creates energy ), increasing serotonin levels, increasing neuronal brain frequency, raising level of wakefulness and awareness as result. Many people don't know how to enter this practice correctly and end up harming themself more then doing good because they essentially fry their pineal gland system. theirs a way to ease into it, as one would with meditation or weight training to stay safe.
