I like the Defiant, but you know they had to have the other one... They should keep both. Defiant is better for jungle insertion. They will have the new smaller, single rotor one for that though.
I know they will use little birds for suburban deployment. black hawks will still be used especially for the suburbs. v-280 will be used for rapid deployment in open areas.
The politicians who have shared in the companies decide what is chosen not the military I can tell you there are many reasons why their choice was awful
The Chinese always have both technologies. What do you want the aircraft companies that are building them all got their information taken. It’s a waste of money to build them.
V-280 is almost twice as fast as the Defiant X in "Time to Altitude". That means it can go UP almost twice as fast as the Defiant X. The V-280 accelerates faster than the Defiant X as well. These two factors means the V-280 can get in and out of a hot LZ much faster than the Defiant X. Current and former combat helicopter pilots prefer the V-280 over the Defiant X. Watch RUclips videos of Russian Alligator helicopters getting blown out of the sky in Ukraine. Slow helicopters are easy targets for MANPADs.
Yup ANY helicopter is at risk on a modern battlefield but at least the Valor will be in danger for a shorter duration. Not to mention getting wounded soldiers to medical help even faster.
Use both. How about loading the Defiant with weapons and turn it into a ground attack helicopter gunship, sent in first to soften up landing sites. Then load up the Valor with troops and set off after the Defiant, just catching up to the Defiants pounding the landing areas. Off load troops while the Defiant gunships protect the troops on the ground? Valors transporting injured troops to field hospitals?
Defiant is not built to function as a ground attack helicopter and would be way too big for that purpose. That will probably take a completely different design which will likely replace the AH-64 Apache. It would make more sense just to mount door gunners on the Valor.
@@jeffw.4205 I think the 105mm would tear it right apart from the immense recoil. I have a strong feeling that door gunners were meant to be part of the design just like the Blackhawk, however those will most likely also be present on the V-280. As sad as i am to see this beautiful bird go, i can see why the V-280 was selected over it from a matter of pros and cons. The propeller design also looks quite complicated and is likely very maintenance heavy.
@@tnc7399 Yea the V-22 was the first of its kind and had many teething issues because of it including the military simply not know how to train the people flying it. Also multiple issue with the V-22 don't exist on the V-280 and were a thing to meat the marines requirements.
I like that idea. I don't know if this will pan out to be a great weapon but I'd kinda like to keep it actively fine tuning and flying to maybe yeah..replace the 64's
Defiant is one of a kind the most advanced helicopter in history, there is no feature in valor that surpasses Defiant, hovering which is what choppers máster is absent in the Valor plus the Defiant heavy payload and maneuverability is what we need in ground combat Defiant high altitude plus close to ground speed is a previously absent feature absent in any other combat heli that makes it a plus, cost is way much less than the Valor 🤔….. on the other hand valor is a blessed Osprey a widow maker hovering is practically absent a propeller airplane with vertical lift definitely not what we need in ground combat where maneuverability pay load and close to ground speed makes the difference between life and death, valor is another Chinook the perfect target for enemy weapons! Sad sad really sad that our soldiers lives, tax payers money and real value plus advanced technology didn’t make the difference 👎
First, the Valor is a generation ahead of the Osprey in terms of tech and reliability. It is also smaller than the Osprey to fit in line with the mission of the Blackhawk. It is simpler for easier maintenance, faster, and longer ranged.
In valor everything is exposed from the rotor what if you land in desert every things goes into it it looks fancy but defiant seems more practical to me
Recently, another f-35 crashed in Texas. It tried to land vertically and decided to dive to the ground and broke it's nose. Hope such failures don't occur to this another overpriced toy.
The F-35 is only $80 million per aircraft. It’s cheaper than an f-15, f-18,f-22 and the newer f-16. F-35 is very cheap, don’t let the media fool you. F-35 program costs a lot but of course it will because they are building 3300 F-35’s. And all F-35 crashes have been due to pilot error or ground crew error. That recent one was also pilot error. Also accidents happen with every aircraft but the f-35 accidents are always headline news so it makes it seem like it happens more to the f-35. In fact the F-16 has a higher crash rate than the f-35. Single engine aircraft crash more often. But no one ever talks about or cares about the f-16 crashes because it’s the most successful 4th generation fighter jet.

@Tyler Clayton glad it is, also aren't the canadians supposed to choose which one they'll use too?

Considering how complicated and awful the Defiant is, I doubt it will ever be used. It didn't function for awhile
Not much of a comparison, is it?
Too slow to make the cut and not enough legs to beat the it's rivals range lol:)
Imagine that....a helicopter 🚁 that turns into a airplane ✈️ ......this is 2 cool 😎
