    The guys you see at 9 minutes in must have the toughest job in the world. They're usually from poor provinces in Central and West India, and work in the most exposed and remote areas of the country for very low wages manually breaking rocks into stones to build the road. They survive up there on instant noodles, pancakes and tea for 3 months and then go home to bring the money to their families. Meeting them when I was cycling the Road last year really put my life in perspective. We have so much privilege. So much.

    • @jokommentaah5947
      @jokommentaah5947 10 лет назад +12

      You forget that WE by far doesnt include all europeans. Many people in europe have just as little as those you see in the video. 70 Million europeans lived (2007, even more now) under the poverty line in the EU. that is a country the size of Germany full of very poor people. You cant compare the money those people have cause, they get so little for it in europe. But my point is: dont say WE when you really just mean you and some others.

    • @jokommentaah5947
      @jokommentaah5947 10 лет назад +2

      Jo Kommentaah The only privilege we have is a ok chance to not get one of the 70 million really poor. Still it doesnt mean our lives automatically can count as living, cause even over the poverty line is still very low and only allows to have a very booring, mentally demanding life. See the problem in EU is that you cant do anything without money, not even visiting friends or beeing part of social life. Another thing here is: we are forced to look at others that are whealthy. It doesnt make the life in India any less hard, but I want people to realize that Europe and USA both arent THAT much richer as it often is presented in the media, school and said in conversations as if we always could help everyone else. We cant. If we do and cause we do, EU is becoming more and more poor. Before we all are good positioned and have filled public treasury, we cant and shouldnt " help" the others. Why "" ? cause many countires would be better of without kapitalism , since you can overhelp people- just like animals: if you help a wild animal to its food, it will soon be dependant on you. This isnt meant as a "Dont help them" speech but just so that people might think twice on how correct and good somthing is, seeing things critically is still not that common..

    • @akshatrajan
      @akshatrajan 10 лет назад +21

      You cycled the whole route? That's brilliant. India is a country which, if nothing else, does give you perspective. FYI, the guys building the road asked him "Kaha jana hai?" as in "where do you want to go?". He was trying to give him directions!

    • @Vkush_MidWest
      @Vkush_MidWest 6 лет назад +9

      Luke, you can find misery in your own country. India (4th largest economy) is not for you to comment on without understanding, nor is it to give you perspective of how "privileged" you are. FYI, 47 million Americans live in poverty as well including their war veterans (homeless). Europe is no stranger to poverty. Rest of the lesson has been given to you by Jo Kommentaah in this thread.

      Raymond Matteson Just don't choose an RE.
      Get a MOJO or Dominor 400.
      RE's no matter which model they are breakdown pretty often and aren't reliable at all.
      Use Dominor as it has dual channel ABS

      @saketchaturvedi1073 6 лет назад +4

      List India So you're telling him to take a 190kg carbureted metal junk 2000ft high?
      Why?
      No reliability?
      No Fuel Injection?
      No fuel gauge?
      Oh I bet it's the Amp meter
      An amp meter always comes in handy cause you should know how much charge is left in your battery :D
      Don't listen to him Raymond
      You can get a MOJO or a Dominar or even the RS200 (which is a sports bike but a surprisingly good tourer)
      There are much better options to go by then an RE
      I'd say the best option is to go with the Mojo or a Dominar
      Mojo would be great because of the suspension setup, good handling and the 21 LITRE FUEL TANK you get
      So you won't have to worry about refueling your bike every 300-400 km

      Saket Chaturvedi , Kid do you even understand these machineries? No fuel injection in a 500 cc? what are you a 3 yr old baby?
      Dominar is low power engine, no stability in the bike. high pick up. And last of all it's a fuckin' sports bike not a cruise bike. you're going on a cruise not to a race. Give me one example who takes a sports bike to high altitude or to any cruising event..
      Raymond sign up to RE website. They constantly organise these type of trips across India with amenity vans. My brother and I have Personally experienced this 7 times with my Thunderbird 500 and his Desert Storm 500. You can try the RE Himalayan. Have Fun. Don't listen to these amateur kids..👍👍.

    I know that my India may not be the best in the world but man we are growing fast.
    We have some of the best archaeological and geological and spiritual marvels in the world.
    The India is changing, its getting out the stereotypical chains of the past(no longer a country of snake charmers) .
    I request GoPro to sponsor another trip to India, the land of diversities.
    India welcomes you my friends.

      My plan for 2021 (if c19 doesn't spoil things) is to take 2 weeks off work and ride to Europe and film it...destination who knows!
      I got inspired to do some long distance trips a few months back after watching videos on @c90adventures channel.

    By far one if the best videos published by GoPro. Yes, a few too many cameras, but that's how you produce such footage. How did they get sonfar with no visible extra gas tanks? With the air so thin those bikes nust have been running very rich.

    Went on this road this summer to get to the start point of our trek.. probably the scariest road ever - truck remains can be seen over the cliff edges from accidents, however, the views at the top are so so worth it.
