    This is fantastic ! Thank you for doing this video. I know that owning an Apprentice STS 1.5 RTF will get me comfortable enough to wean myself off of the protective features. The size of this bird really aids in keeping track of the craft. Get good on the STS and then I can feel confident enough to tackle the midget Super Cub S2 which doesn't have those features .

    One more detail question on the virtual fence. How do you set where the rectangle begins at the parking lot so it knows not to fly there? The imaginary like so to speak.

    • @DronemanJoeRc
      @DronemanJoeRc  3 года назад +1

      There is a card that comes with the plane to show you where you position the sticks on what type of fence you want. There are 3 types you can set.

      @@DronemanJoeRc found it. When I set the rectangle for a flying field does the no fly over the parking garage(😜) part of the fence line start at the home position or where you had the plane when you set the virtual fence. Great video! when you are at the point of setting the virtual Fencing. did you know, that at this point you can toggle from small or larger circle rectangle and off position??
    so at this Point if you change your mind about what Fencing you want, you could toggle from then!?
    i just was wondering if you figured it out??
    Because i notice you set your safe on! your safe switch Need to be off! and you don't need to hold the Aileron and Elevator in position after plugging the battery and initializing.
    all you have to do, is set safe switch to off position, plug in the battery, flip your plane switch on, allow the the plane to find the GPS and finish, and now you can toggle to desire fencing position as many times as you want.

    • @DronemanJoeRc
      @DronemanJoeRc  3 года назад

      Yes there is in the manual it shows you. You will only need to do that once if you fly at the same field bc the plane remembers its location. If you change fields then you will just calibrate. To calibrate it just a few simple spininng around the plane until it gps lock, if you have a drone with gps its the same thing. Once you fly it once you will see how easy it is.

    Wow what a really helpful video fella!!!!!!!
    BRILLIANT INFO
    I’ve got 2 questions for you, if I may.
    I’m going to fit my gps module this weekend to my sts apprentice, the gps has just arrived and I know I need to set the geofence up whilst at the flying field but what about the compass calibration? Do I do that also at the flying field just before I set the gps up ? or could I do the compass set up at home in my garden?
    Thank you for such an informative video.
    Whilst I’m on it might be worth a mention that to Cary out my range test I need to throw the toggle switch 6 times not 4 times as stated in my manual. Just thought that might help some people out there if they’re struggling how to enter the range test mode

      You would set the compass up at the airfield and once you do that you wont need to do it again, unless you go to a new place to fly bc it remembers where you are. You can do your range test anywhere. Thanks for asking.

      I know but you don’t show compass calibration. We would get a red light and then a red and green dot inside of a yellow circle on the planes dashboard. Steps. Power on transmitter with sticks down and inwards. Turn. On plane. Elevator sets and ailerons start wagging. Turn plane tail over nose twice. Then hold plane 90 degree bank and roll it to the right twice. Then power off transmitter and then power off plane a few seconds later. When we turn everything back on again nothing works right and we get the blinking lights described above.
