In the 89' version, the prince body motion look so much better then this newer version. Unbelievable.
+
That's because his design and movement in the original game were 100% rotoscoped. Where as the remake just uses a basic 3D model taken from the Sands Of Time.
Yaron Shaked I disagree. Animations are just as good in this version, besides, there are more animations here (back-flips, running on the walls).
It's just that animations in the original Prince were revolutionary for its time and this game is in the "nothing special" category now. But if you look at them objectively now you can see that modern animations are NOT worse.
Booruvcheek I personally think the acrobatic movements in a remake are a good thing, because they speed up the pace of an otherwise slow platformer, while still giving you just as much control. It made it feel like a nice blend of classic PoP and modern PoP. If they ever remake the sequel, the barrel rolls would come in handy for dodging the slicers pretty quickly!
Yaron Shaked
Something that made the original so unique was its realism. The prince wasn‘t really that acrobatic and had to walk a certain amount of spaces to make a long jump. Here the prince can just longjump shortly after starting to walk. And even then, the original prince had to gain momentum first. This one can just run instantly.
and that is the biggest problem with this release, it takes away the proper timing you had to do to jump and hung from the edge, a key element of the PoP series. its basically made for little kids.
@@giornikitop5373 I hope they redo it again and get the gameplay and music right, the dungeon lighting is a bit strange too...a lot of yellow and blue. Though its maybe best to just leave these things alsone (I'm not sure)...they did a remake of Another World too, I need to have another look at that, remakes though are a bit strange.
its, joder.
back then people have a lot of time. kids can play hours upon hours. Nowadays people don't have that much time to spare. Some of us just play for fun.
@@yokowasis people don’t like the mechanics or the maps. Me? I don’t like the character designs. I’d like to see a mod of the game with SoulCalibur made models of the 1990s PC98 and Macintosh designs.
This is far easier than the original on Amiga...but is nice to see that good old games are not completely forgotten!
@Manveru31 That mean, it is easier.
Prince of Persia gameplay/controls were tight af
@Manveru31 i'm pretty sure that the game was coded like that on purpose, the prince's jump was supposed to be delayed
Yeah easier because of better controls the original has sluggish controls which makes it harder.
Good. The original is painful.
Well done lads, I've played the original, enjoyed the Sands Of Time rendition, and this version which takes elements from both is really well done (3d models, environment, sfx etc.) and fun to play. Cheers!
I really love 1989 version, I grew up with it and I think it’s superior... BUT I have to say that Jaffar is harder to kill here
8:58 always gives me goosebumps
I never understood the point of shadow in the game. And it always annoyed me that he stepped on the lever to lock you out at the end of level 6. And you ended up falling into level 7
It's an HD remake, yet the animations look less realistic than the DOS version.
RandomGuy1994 DOS version was awesome, it was my first game in my life and I loved it. :D
+RandomGuy1994 lololol no way
+Butter of Sorrow My thought exactly. The original version literally had better transitions between individual animations.
+Butter of Sorrow The DOS version is awesome, is one of the best and beautiful DOS games along with System Shock. The remake is not that bad either :)
+Butter of Sorrow Note how the gaming community is so dumb now, they needed to add signs and glow to everything.
Childhood game...loved it
Beautiful. I played the MS-DOS version.
Awesome walk-through. I enjoyed watching the variations from the original game. But the old DOS version still does something for me :)
I love how she collapses in dismay as soon as she sees the giant hour glass. Like it's completely obvious what it means. Hourglasses are EVIL!
@AnimationStation I know it's been 2 months but could you share this story? :)
@@scorporion7884Play Sands of Time for the story.
It’s insane to think that this 2007 remake is half the age of the 1990 DOS release.
1990+17=2007
2007+17=2024
mind blown
What in the world is that ending music? Sounds like it belongs in some kind of mecha anime.
LITERALLY
street fighter 2 ending theme vocal version:

The same game as on my Amiga of old, and still sooo awesome with this new look!
DOS Version Remains the best of all
The SNES version is just as good.
SNES is number one along with the DOS
@@moviemetalhead SNES is better.
Has BGM, better mechanics, more levels and Vishnu
@@lrc3847 Ok, you're just agreeing with me and preaching to the choir. 👍
@@lrc3847 agreed..
This looks like its much easier than the original.
Because the original had controls like tank. Its controls made it difficult to move.
@@digimaks the controls in the original werent touchy due to overbearing difficulty, but to give the player a sense of realism.
Very impressive! :) thanks for posting!
Such a nice mixture between the first 2D versions and the full 3D Versions!
It was a good excuse to play through a classic again. I then played through my original amiga copy again and have just bought the snes port to go through at some point. Got me into the games again so I like it.
love the outtakes in the end!
I can listen to the sound of those footsteps all day long.
If you don't like this game then go and play the DOS version, it's still there. This is a great update, and makes it actually fun and fluid. Kids could enjoy this and not even know it's a remaster, which I think is a great thing.
Literally the only improvement here is that Jaffar puts up a bit more fight and has a few magic tricks.
I liked the popping sound when you hit the enemy with the sword in the original.
Nice walktrough and credits!
1. Whoever did graphics for this version completely misunderstood what was the original game about;
2. If you have two windows close to each other, sun should be shining from the same side (assuming this is not a Persia from another planet)
¡This version is great!
Great video thanks for sharing. I love the rat, very sweet!! hahaha
You played really awesome!
@12:07 lmao what happened to fatty from the original game?
He probably became so fat he couldn't fit through that door
Hahaha
In Japan they probably thought "why a Sumo wrestler is in this game? This is Arabia"
The original one was much much more difficult!
Raziel Milky acho que não é preciso misturar as coisas , os dois são bons mas esse ai da mais desenvoltura em vez de ser mais travado.
I'd say the original's playability isn't bad, my best time is 20:15 (39:45 remaining), I'm currently trying to beat the 20 minute mark.
Hard control doesnt mean it more difficult
I know why you said this easy cause you dont realize this guy replay the game and master it
having played multiple versions of the original and the xbox360 version i can say this is an inferior game because of poor game play mechanics and reduced challenge.
Only for the comands and for the input lag
Thanks bro because of you I have completed the game
Beautiful. I played it 21 years b4 bt in b/w version
0:46 - Ummm, why is a sandclock ticking??? :D
Because this "game" does not have any realistic moment
Hello again mister DooMer :)
@@Dondlo46 Sometimes even I am surprised by thr videos I have commented under :P
Awesome game, awesome gameplay! Congrats man, thanks for sharing! :)
It’s a nice touch that they put the SoT assets to use for this.
Outstanding, fantastic.
Love the fluidity and that you don't have to stop to jump again.
Go play Mario
Of course a Japanese....very skilled
I was pissed off he was in a hurry missing all the good stuff...but he got every single thing i wanted to see at the end
Thanks for this! I just finished the game. The game felt longer to me since I died A LOT.
very very very thank you!
Great video and thank you, I finally beat this game!
pantcake so good!
Man it looks like combat is insanely easy. Guards were far and few between in the original, and each one was a nerve wracking experience.
Also the chomping blades have lost their visual impact in the switch to 3D, since they are entirely side on and look like very thin grey lines. In the original they were drawn slightly side on since it was an isometric 3D perspective, and you could see the tooth blades.
And long gone are the days when these platform games were made for gamers, who had to memorize which of the switches on the ground triggered what, instead of having colors indicating which switch will open or close a door.
and those blades gave you the creeeeeps
Fallen Virtue Games Yeah - no other port has really nailed the sickening and abrupt "crunch" the blades did when chopping you in half, the way the DOS version did.
As kids it gave us an adrenaline shock each time it happened, and facing one of those things took all the courage we could muster, each time.
+Clint Hobson Even just watching the DOS version here on RUclips still managed to make me centre cringe
Plus, forget the chomp noise when they hit, the sound of them just clanging together on a miss was so heavy you knew those things were business. This version of the game looks awful, I have to say. The jumps are clearly instant, they give you all kinds of auto-turning and jump-to-climb moves and charging sword attacks that the original didn't have. I'm not saying "different is worse" here, but they took out all the cool little nuances that you had to learn and use carefully and replaced them with easy, auto-win crap. Even switching sides with guards now has a special, canned animation that gives you lots of time to see what's happening, instead of a quick switch, often with you stepping in fast in the hopes of closing the distance before the sword slash from the guard could hit you and push you back. The SNES version of this game is the king of them all. That version was just amazing and added so much cool stuff to the original, not to mention the incredible music and graphics.
Thank you, thank you.
I'm glad they remade it. Graphics look good.
Some of the physics and fight mechanics look different on this. Some of the jumps he makes (and running off the edgy of something and grabbing as he falls) weren't possible in the original, and the fighting seems to be more complex than parry or lunge. But it's nice to see the original levels mostly (5:49 is slightly different in the the guillotines didn't go quite like that in the original) preserved where the graphics are updated.
I will say this. This game is a bit too easy and nerfed. But it's not to say I haven't died on this game. In fact, I died on this game a lot.
So it's not to say it doesn't have any challenge. It has some, but not as much as the old Prince of Persia.
Guys, this guy is just an expert on this game so, don't mistaken him for making this game being too easy. It still has some challenge in it and I say it's still worth giving the demo a shot and buying it if you'd love to play it and beat it.
I love this version too!
love those ending credits
The time of game walkthrough highly decreases with all these new parkour features ;-)
so many checkpoints.
Great remake, amazing presentation
I never knew such version existed…interesting…
I like the SNES version a lot more than this...
In the scene at 8:05 I always changed sides with that guard and managed to get it killed by that trap in the REAL classic
Randy Dane my hero
Thank you, you helped ms with the dark prince
Thank you!
The original combat system looked like fencing with rapiers. That was more realistic, altought persian people used schmichtars.
The game tells you which platforms you have to push...pathetic
Hey, at least a new generation can experience the original game in some way.
Who said they cpuldn't experience it/ There are lots of DOS simulators
DOSBox is a godsend! So many games are currently 'abandonware' that it's a gold mine for anyone who has interest.
In all fairness, without those runes on the pressure plates, they would be a lot harder to see than DOS release. on DOS release they rise above the ground more, making them easy to see.
So does the original game.
This version is so cool! 😎👍
Oh… I didn’t know of this version! I must try it!
why you have a japanese song in the last part of this video ?
btw the original soundtrack of the first game whas awesome .
Mrtaker23 Look at his name... Irori Mimasaka.
Street figther 2
Decent remake of a masterpiece
I suscribed tour Channel. A Big like
Wow, I had no idea that this remake came out. I used to play the original 1990 version when I was 12 years old.
Loved the original 1989 version more then this one.
I dont like his small pockets in this Version. In the original the whole sword disappeared in his trousers... ;)
hahahahaha!!!!
I saw a playthrough of the original version, and somebody commented there that as a child, he didn't realise how hard it can be to hide a sword in your trousers ....
The sound of his footsteps is driving my insane. TACKATACKATACAKTACKATACKATACKAKA
Here just for the nostalgia, used to play this on my commodore 64.
26:46 Never mind, let's just be together once more :D
Well, the NES version was my very first horror video game in childhood 👌
The SNES version is where its at bruh!
the back flips were the awesome part
Wow i did know this game has remake but it seems they remaked this second time aswell. Cool. Was my first games in 1990.
This is an actual remake of the classic DOS game?
Looks good! Where can I find it?
DCLeadboot I was expecting a ""Cherry Pie" at the end. Then I realized oh wait this is not his spoof..awww.
this is nice, but nothing will ever beat the prince of persia 2: the shadow and the flame. its the best
Guy Snowy Ikr no pop will ever beat the shadow and the flame!
Guy T TRUE😀
Great play! Good Lucky!
"check point". I've laughed with that. 😂😂
3:26: that kind of jump was impossibile in the original.
I don't understand why this remake was never released on PC! Especially considering their main focus was the MS-DOS version!
Literally was the Apple ][ and DOS
Because you can just play the original?
Great, Excellent, Out standing graphics more challenging. I was player in 1990.
That jump is so unreal
that skill ! :)
Hup...hop--hooop...hup why is that necessary?
when anything had that, that anoying me hardly!
how did anyone jump in end of second level to open the door .o have been trying it for 24yrs..... yet to this not able to jump back after opening the door. any suggestions...]
I grew up with the DOS version and played it alot via 1989/90. Made the way to the SNES version as well but I never knew about this 21 century remake?! This is the first time I've ever seen this, it does look pretty good via the environment details, the animations are okay at best. I guess it new found aspects that make it easier via the checkpoints and highlighted floor switches might make it it's new found strengths & weaknesses depending?! They have to make this version appeal to an ever growing hard-to-please crowd by adding new elements. The wall jumps, lunges and backflips do add any easier game play experience from what I can see?! Wouldn't mind trying this version out just out of curiosity and this version and the 1989 original should co-exist in a ever growing console platform. Neat.
Am I the only one who likes this game? I mean, I grew up on thr snes version, so I think that one is better, but I really like this one. The combat animations seem much better, it's no longer a guessing game as to which platforms do what, and the transitions from screen to screen are even more fluid, and the background looks great.
I think the biggest "flaw" is that the prince is much more mobile and athletic - a type of movement just not suited to the original prince of persia game, which was based less on mobile acrobatics and more precise movements and timing.
Same here. I played this game when it was on DoS ( I gave up but cannot forget the game) but I love this "fake" 3D style, much more than the real 3D version.
TheBloodswordsman You did not grow up on snes, you were born after 2000 lol. be honest.
Still the classic has way better animation
and it is smooth...
An old version has awesome music and soundtrack
This new version has a nice ASMR to it...
Dos version is better. Who's with me?... No one?... Ok...
go away.
dos version is good but the Snes version has better music and more content IMO
The original one was somewhat more thrilling and more creepy. That dungeon was scarier lol
Both are great and have awesome things to offer
와 진짜 시원시원하게 잘 하시네요
Nice revenge in getting that 5th level potion from the shadow!
What was the name of this 80s/90s anime song for the credits?
This is painful to watch!! There's a reason the classic is called the "Classic" for a reason!!
그래픽은 좋아졌을지도 몰라도 모션의 긴박함은 전작을 따라오질 못하고 있다.
Excellent graphics.
Since animations here look bad, do you guys suppose they're as bad as ones in Sega Mega Drive version?
