Steve Aryan of Grey Fox Industries discusses considerations when shouldering an AR pistol using the SIG Stabilizing Brace or a pistol buffer tube. - Спорт
No NFA, I'm not shouldering my pistol. I'm welding it to my Tactical pectoral.
David Hobbins as of June 2019 its legal but I get it, it’s all really dumb legal BS.
@@yockhunter I just purchased an ar pistol. What are my legal options for stock/"brace"
kene eye you can not put a stock on a AR pistol but you can put a brace, mine came with a Maxim Defense CQB brace. Also do not put any vertical grips only angled grips.
@@yockhunter Haha yeah I know that's why I put "brace". I actually went with the SB Tactical SBA4 and the SB AK brace adaptor.
Edit: I accidentally wrote AR in my first comment I meant AK.
It’s a great all around pistol ruclips.net/user/postUgkxnX9wE_Q8zvF75Y5iWzTU3Q4FlrtyGApQ , doesn’t fit in plastic glock 19 holsters but will fit in some non plastic ones. The location of the safety isn’t very good because your finger will accidentally activate it but it can easily be removed by pulling on both sides at once. Don’t lose the red o-rings while doing that.
I really liked that concept of pivoting the pistol up to get a consistent position. Nice work.
Repeal the NFA
I know that the ATF clarified the shouldering thing to be A-OK, but I thought that permanently affixing the brace to the firearm, be it by glue, tape, or otherwise, was considered re-designing the firearm. I'm not going to start hounding the ATF with stupid questions because I think we can all agree this whole NFA thing is infringing on our 2A rights to begin with, but I just wanted to put this question out there as he's giving information to a broad audience here and I wouldn't want to have people be at risk unnecessarily for a simple error. Keep up the great work guys! Let's Repeal the NFA!
BryGuy418 blue locktight is ok, but red is bad. That means tape has to be ok right?
Thinking back to my mountain bike days and we used hairspray to mount handlebar grips.
It made installing them easy and kept the grips from rotating on the bars or sliding off.
BryGuy418 The law does not say that "chesting it" is forbidden.
I believe it said "incidental contact" So if you are intentionally building a pistol to avoid the NFA, that is probably going to be a problem.
BryGuy418 how about we disband the ATF they are worthless fucks!
you mean a standard 30 round capacity? or greater? I just want to make sure you don't endorse calling a standard 30 a high capacity because, it's not. it's standard.
Nite Owl let me know my nigga let em know
Lol you're a fanatic
Gawd Damn right Boi! Let Them Know.
Nite Owl endorse. Lol
Standard in the military, but it depends on what the state determines to be high capacity for civilian use. California does not consider 30 rd mags as “standard”.
Thanks for the confirmation that I've been doing it right all these years and, more recently, with my Sig Brace equipped shorty.
Thanks for the informative video.
Good Vid & info. I recently purchased a Sig brace for my CMMG. I was doing exactly what you said not to do, bringing the brace off my body as I came up, then pressing back against my upper shoulder (too high & to the right). i followed your instructions & it made a big improvement in my sight picture & alignment. I'm still working on it but getting better.
I like that bringing the brace off of your shoulder and more to the center of your body. I tried it with my mk 18 and did actually make it seem like my brace had more length to it.
I FORCED a SIG MPX brace on a pistol buffer tube. It's permanent for all practical purposes. Makes a great brace, even for "incidental " shoulder situations!
You just openly expressed making an SBR, have your real name, and real picture. And personal email linked. Are you that ztupid?
"length of pull" with a sigbrace LOL Just put a freaking stock on the damn thing. "Shall not be infringed" does mean that SBR "laws" aren't laws at all.
and be sure to tell them the definition of 'shall not be infringed' as they are dragging your ass off to Club Fed...
dae giovanni How can they drag you to "club fed" if you are dead after killing a few agents breaking into your home.
*The ATF Would Like To Know Your Location*
you first, pal
dae giovanni boy they got you comin and goin, dont they boy. Lmao
This guy did a good job. I have instructed many people and with the little experience I have gained, I can honestly say this guy did teach it right. I am not talking about laws that apply to SBRs or anything like that. A few people are hating on this guy, I would like to see them do the same thing.
Odin Works makes a collar that goes on the buffer tube that prevents that from twisting.
Odin Works has a pistol buffer tube with a collar that prevents the SIG brace from twisting but does not "permanently attach" the brace to the buffer tube.
Im defiantly taking this behavior to the range. “Sir!!! This is not on my shoulder, i am driving this to my core!!!” Lmao!!!
thank s for this form I will defiantly try to start working on this form
I'm currently rocking SB Tactical's PDW brace
Great video! Awesome FJ! I have one too and love it.
These operators crack me up sometimes lol
really big help, thanks
Excellent demonstration very educational I learned a lot in a few minutes
Glad you enjoyed it.
At the end I agree to an extent. Paper targets don't collapse like a human body does after being shot. Yes you want to be vigilant and ready for a secondary shooter. But you also want to follow that body with your muzzle in case for some odd reason 2 shots to the face didn't expire his life spand immediately and he reaches for a burner on his leg. With the muzzle up you can obscure your vision of the threat reaching for a secondary firearm.
Thanks!
Nice presentation.
You can now have stabilizing pistol braces that do not move and that are retractable because I now have one on my AR pistol and it's ATF approved are ATI whichever it is
When you say high capacity magazine, please tell me you ARE NOT referring to a STANDARD CAPACITY 30 round magazine
Shockwave Blade arm brace is allowed to be shouldered now by the atf according to their website.
@@peeeoii2738 I am curious in an answer as well...2022 has already started off as a strange year for the 2A community.
He mispronounced "standard capacity" 😏
Not necessarily, he might have been referring to a 40 or 45 round mag which is higher capacity than a standard mag.
Right? What an amateur
@@redtra236
Also possible
He Said do not drop your head. Drops head on every live fire string. ?????
that's just his short neck,lol!
😂😂😂
Yeah, i definitely noticed the same thing... does exactly what he said not to do.
Bullet's Channel bullshit self proclaimed instructor like all the others out there.
Great vid
Its spinning because you didn't install it right I have same brace dosen't budge a hair. You take electric tape and build up the buffer tube so brace is solid
We need a vid on ammo selection when running an AR pistol, especially when talking 7.5" barrels and the effect in the defensive arena.
chris let me explain what you need to know in that area because i have a 8.5 inch ar15 pistol. in 300 blackout that is the only caliber that will work effective in a barrel that short the 223 or 556 caliber needs at least 2800 fps to have the max effect because it is a round that depends on high speed to do the job to the max the ak rounds needs aleast 2600 fps to do the job the max of course all of the above wil kill you but you will not get the max effect . 300 blackout on the other was designed to work in barrel lenghts 9 inchs on down to maybe 5 inches with a 9 inch barrel you are geting the same muzzle energy as a14 inch 223 or 556 caliber now for the best ammo the best is the barnes vortec tac-ta in 110 or 120 grain bullets these are guaranteed to expand all the way down to 1400 fps and out of a nine inch barrel you are getting 2170 feet per second and with the 7 inch you are getting 1973 fps so you will still get perfect expansion the next best ammo for the 300 blackout is underwood controled chaos ammo in 300 blackout they will tolal work at 1400 fps and are perfect for self dense next is the maker bullet in 230 grain these are sub-sonic but will expanse to over and inch in diameter . so there you go i hope that this answer your question
Not completely true you can run 9mm or 45 acp and many others
@5:08 I think an LL Bean Catalog shoot just walked by.
OY! You got a liosence for that shouldered AR pistol
Very dynamic bro..
this is the closest thing I can find to someone just shouldering the buffer tube itself, that's my plan when this build is complete since I can't have a stock lmao
2:36 carbine ? Im sorry i thought this was a pistol
ATF: Hmmmm, interesting...
what sights work best with this brace, iron sights or does the red dot hold an advantage?

altering, ADDING , SUBTRACTING, original designed status does in essence break the law, I forgot the source material but ATF official did specify do not change anything on the design of the products that were not in original submitted tested and approved sample by the Firearms division of the ATF.
WARZONE415 the more recent interpretation of that law is that it is ok
That’s ok.. I found link a little further down.
what fun!
Ha, 2017 problems. 2019 looks at this and scoffs.

SB Tactical makes newer braces that are better designed
I bought one they're awesome and they are retractable and they are approved
Worth every motherfuckin penny. Have a buddy doing a build. He couldn’t afford the brace so I had him reroute his build around the brace and barrel. He can get a nicer trigger later. Don’t skimp on your barrels 300 gents!
Won't consider one til they ditch the silly velcro and big black rubber baby buggy bumpers. I'll stick with Tailhooks and Shockwave blades.
Just got my ar pistol is it legal to attach a brace
If you own a Sig pm400 none of the sig braces will move while firing and some folks have had to cut the brace off or get a new buffer tube. So his first statement is only true if you're piecing your ar pistol together, not a complete sig pm400.
Anyone know the info on the pistol? A breakdown
if you shoulder it, it is no longer a pistol, it is a rifle. "bring the carbine up to my face" see it's a rifle, but it does look like a short barrelled rifle.
so it is a pistol, carbine, rifle.
Rifle: a gun, especially one fired from shoulder level.
the AFT does have a section on braces, and how they are used would be how the weapon is classified. using 2 hands and firing from shoulder level would make it a rifle, not a pistol, and the length of barrel would then make it a SBR.
These brace techniques can be applied to SBR firearms, too.
Is it legal to rest the ar pistol on like a sled or something for support?

Did anyone notice the brass extracting to the 1 o clock position . Mabye a lighter buffer will fix that
Are you flexing? :O Bruh, We are already at the gun show :D
You have to be careful what you take from PDN. Some of their 'training' is suspect; such as the home invasion scenario that tells you to take your family out another door or window while the invader is coming in through another ( they actually did write that and say it could help you legally if you had to fire on the invader!). And yes, he IS dropping his head when he said not to.
saying pistol and carbine in the same sentence while holding a sig brace is in violation of NFA act f69.u420.
Is this GQ tactical? Should I really do a digital exam of the chamber to feel for a round?

plus the word permanently attaching in this vid is very wrong.
I cannot this cat serious.
Wait can you clarify, is this technique ONLY good for Sig brace?
No

3:20 High capacity magazine? More than 30rds?
I mean 40 and 45 round mags aren't uncommon.
And I would say he was talking about them as I doubt he would have that issue with a 30 rounder.
Lol ignorant folk believe high capacity is 10+ rounds.
Umm, cant modify a brace, like to glue it to the tube like you said. That violates the law and makes the brace no longer ATF approved. It then becomes an unapproved SBR if a pistol.
Just get a freakin shockwave blade and be done with it
Amen! Or Tailhook.
I thought shouldering the sig brace was illegal, has this changed?
high capacity magazine?
WARZONE415 I think it's something they serve at Dennys

45 round mag
ATF ALERT::: Shouldering a Stabilizing brace , Tsk-tsk.
do the same as the British SAS firing the H&K MP-5
So in 2022..where are we at with putting a sig or other brace to our chest vs a true shouldering?

I don't know but the AR pistol not such a good idea guys I think the standard AR does a fantastic job for what it is. For A pistol go to the barretta or the CZs
Just get a stabilizing blade modifying the brace is questionably legal.
Is it a pistol or carbine
Noveski handguard?
I had one of these. Sold it due to the loss of power out of the rounds I was shooting. Anyway I shot tons of .223 with the brace shouldered without any issue it worked just like a stock. No need for glue or any bs
And remember kids IF the shit ever hits the fan you will not be shooting like this. That’s a fact. You will be trying to survive and not trying to look cool like this. I am a 21+ year military vet and for some active duty folks this is what we teach. We do not teach this to couch potato “call of duty” men from age 18-40. We just don’t. I appreciate the video like I did a year ago but reality is when or IF the Shtf scenario plays out you will not be doing any of this.
Pistol when it's a short barreled rifle...
What kind of sling is that?
That is a 5.11 Basic Single Point Sling with Bungee and can be found here: www.511tactical.com/basic-single-point-sling-with-bungee.html
Just stop it already. We just got the OK from ATF and now, omg just stop.
First of all how the Fuck is the asswipe ATF, are any other asshole govt agency going to STOP ME, OR ANYONE ELSE FROM SHOULERING ARE NOT SHOULDERING AN AR PISTOL with any kind of stock/brace?? THIS WHOLE FORBIDDEN TO DO WHATEVER IS SOO FUKKN STUPID!!!!
What if you prefer to shoot gangster and hold it completely sideways while crotch holding? Any tips? Oh and yes I am yelling obscenities too, in case you need to know that.
Strapping the brace to your forearm will go a long way towards helping you shoot sideways while crotch grabbing. There are training videos on the topic.
where did you buy your ear protection and what are they called.
Those would be an older model of the Peltor ComTac headset. You’ll probably find the best price on them through Amazon or Optics Planet, they run in the $200/300 dollar range depending on options.
Thank you i will be getting these.
6:47 does anyone hold their rifle like that while firing? Yes or No below
Or pistol
👀 ATF
What’s the point of the strap on the stock lol
You strap your arm into it so your arm is stabilizing the gun. It was designed for a veteran who only had 1 arm if i remember corrrectly.
Uhm, wouldn't it make sense if he demonstrated how the brace is meant to be utilized ? Or is the whole stabilizer just bs and it's actually meant to provide a crude stock ? Why bother with the SBR law at all ?
I shoulder my pistol when no one is around, I feel so bad about it. Buffer tube and all.
You baddd boy
get the KAK brace
dubvc1 the Sig comes with a letter
So when you buy a AR-15 pistol with a sig brace, it comes with a letter from the ATF stating rules or regulations on how you can & can't use the product you bought?

No it doesn’t the man is this video is an idiot or maybe he doesn’t realize the lies he is telling people.
So the pistol buffer tube has been addressed by the BATF? Nope...if a pistol buffer tube won't accept a stock and is part of the operating system you can shoot it anyway you please. Same way you can shoot a glock from your chin.
broham, put your body armor on and do that to that stock on where you talking about. ain't happening.
Bro, more than likely you aren’t going to have your armor on when you have to utilize this weapon. Plus, not everyone is going to want to purchase or wear armor.
He called it a carbine. Uh nooooooooo
Hey BryGuy418! I do believe your on the right trail about the brace. A real gray area. I wish vids like this would not be posted. To no offense PDN you did a great job. please forgive the negative.
Would this be a little easier with less roids?
Pistol and SBR laws are such a joke. You can't realistically call a short barreled rifle chambered in 556 with a stock to be a pistol. Whut???
Too lazy to look through the comments. So is it legal to shoulder a pistol brace?
As of the latest determination by the BATFE shouldering a pistol brace
is not illegal. Check out this PDN article for the details.
www.personaldefensenetwork.com/article/ar-pistols-legal-shoulder/
Pistol or rifle? At 6:11 he refers to it as a rifle. 🤔
