Nothing against those 92 points. I love LaMelo Ball, he is going to be a star in the NBA one day. A hell of an accomplishment, I can never score 92 points in a game in my life. But come on, why cherrypicking for most of the points lol. Almost half of his points were from not playing defence at all after the press was broken at half court, just standing there around the centre logo and not picking up anybody. And as soon as the big guy get the board, he just jog back and get an easy layup. Just look at 8:34, he is not even hustling at all to pick up a guy. I feel a bit like he is running up the score/ personal stat sheet rather than letting the score come to him naturally. Again, this is not hating him. How long is he going to play offense only and how strong will his inclination to rest on defense be? For a player with such talent I think his coach is doing him a huge disservice not letting him develop a complete skill set. Nothing against those 92 points. I love LaMelo Ball, he is going to be a star in the NBA one day. A hell of an accomplishment, I can never score 92 points in a game in my life. But come on, why cherrypicking for most of the points lol. Almost half of his points were from not playing defence at all after the press was broken at half court, just standing there around the centre logo and not picking up anybody. And as soon as the big guy get the board, he just jog back and get an easy layup. Just look at 8:34, he is not even hustling at all to pick up a guy. I feel a bit like he is running up the score/ personal stat sheet rather than letting the score come to him naturally. Again, this is not hating him. But if he tries to do this cherrypicking in college or in the NBA, he is going to end up at the end of the bench for most of the game.

nobody is arguing weather it or not it is effective, it obviously is. Regarding his development as a basketball player however the concerns are equally obvious. How long is he going to play offense only and how strong will his inclination to rest on defense be? He can polish his natural ability to score but how is he supposed to develop a reliable defensive ability if he is taught not to take any pride in defending at all at this point? For a player with such talent I think his coach is doing him a huge disservice not letting him develop a complete skill set. Seems the coach is only concerned with winning, but these are high school kids who want to become professionals; rather they lose a game here and there than set a player with such god-given talent on a path to becoming an offensive specialist and defensive liability rather than a complete pro.
