- One of my favourite solutions to break out of writers block. Often times, for me at least, getting stuck isn't so much about lacking inspiration or ideas, as it is just me not zooming out far enough to think big picture about how music even works to begin with. Try this out!

If I could think of rhythm like that I’d be half way to halfway solving my writing
This feels like a revelation to me, like I can't believe I never thought to try this before lol
It's a bad idea, melody first is better
@@mameh1624 If that’s what works for you that’s fine but it’s objectively a good idea to do this if you’re having trouble writing. Rhythm is the backbone of all music.
@@tylerdavis3yeah I remember there was an interview where Dave Grohl said he wrote Everlong by coming up with the rhythm first and the rest fell into place after. that song ended up being a hit so clearly there's something to this method lol
@@MatrixEvolution17 Yep, with music, it’s whatever works for you, there’s no right or wrong way to do it.
@@mameh1624 Rhythm is melody
Good !
Trevor your my hero
Thank you!
Good advice!
Nice 👍🙂
nice tips
I missed like 4 steps
Nahhhh… that is not a good approach to song writing. Start with straight chords with no fills and keep it in 4/4 time. 5/4 is just silly…
5/4 is not silly
if you wanna be boring
How are you gonna say “this isn’t a good approach” and then list a 10x worse approach?
There’s a reason you’ve been playing for a decade with absolutely nothing to show for it.
Great music can be made in any time signature. That includes 4/4 for all the math rock nerds in here.
