Guys if you watch RUclips to improve your pool game this is the only channel you need. Bryan is the ONLY Pool RUclipsr that talks for a while then demonstrates the shots all in one take. There are other pool channels that have good info but they can't hit the shots on command the way Bryan does. Bravo to you Bryan!!
Thank you Eddie I truly appreciate your endorsement. More and more people are noticing that there are a couple of people on YT showing you how to do things that they can’t do themselves, on demand. Thanks again.
Ive watched many channels that claim to make your game better. But alot is that you have a coach that commincate on your level. Brain you are the MAN...
THANK YOU! I run into these cross rail shot positions ALL THE TIME and had no idea how others made these balls look so easy to make. I was missing the subtle english. I'm headed to the table NOW! Thanks for another great lesson!
I consider myself a pretty decent bank shot shooter, however one thing that definitely helped me massively improve was randomly discovering and watching some bank pool tournaments. It's a super tough game given that only pure bank shots are allowed, no flukes, no bank combos, no kicks etc. Given that a ball comes back up when you make one in the wrong pocket and on a scratch, a ball comes back up and you have to shoot from the head string line, it's not a very appealing game for beginners. It's very tough! However, if you're an intermediate level player/banker, playing even one session of bank pool once every couple weeks will boost your bank skills big time. It's also great for creativity/experimentation with banks, especially with multi rail options. Great video Bryan, as always!
I steadily listen and watch while im at work. Ive even gone so far as to implement several things ive learned recently. I shoot 4 nights a week and have learned a lot rhus far. Not sure i can speak for any other 4's out there but i do appreciate the channel.
Absolutely! But to be honest it's easy for me to forget the English "reverses" as well as how much the English takes when the object ball is different distances from the rail, lol... These shots play right into 3 rail positioning so naturally that you should be able to get almost anywhere on the table👍😁... Thanks Bryan! Playing 1 pocket later today and I KNOW this will help on them tough shots
Had a situation recently where I could not see enough of the ball to make a short shot in the corner or even enough of the ball to bank cross corner but I hit it full with a lot of LH english and made it cross corner. Made my day,,
All the time. I examine the angle to see where the object ball will end up with a center ball hit, then add English to either “skinny up” or “widen out” the shot.
Yes! Just as in a normal shot, sometime spin is necessary to get proper position or can make a seemingly impossibe shot, possible.. Some are memorization shots for banks, admittedly on most banks I use no to very little spin and I've begun using higher speed and track lines for banks when position isn't critical (because of the intimidating "message" it sends to my opponent as you slam a seemingly difficult shot into the pocket like it had eyes on it)). But most players are far worse bankers than they think. A test is to set up 3 fairly easy banks with specific cue ball and object ball position and have players shoot them (bank 1, bank 2 ,bank 3). But with altered shots between the 3 banks randomly on 10 tries. Suddenly a player who thinks they are a 70% bank shooter becomes a 30-40% bank shooter. Or if they think they are an 80-90% banker, it drops to 40-60%. A truer indication with more game type pressure. And of course, in banking spin can be used for two way banks either to get position or leave my opponent safe on lower percentage banks or in One Pocket.
Brian! My favorite instructor. Your ways of teaching and instruction to Mr are the best. I don't use the so called diamond system fir banks, I use instinct and it works well for me. The English instruction in this video is gonna help me out a lot. Thank you! Keep up the gr8 work...🎱🎱🎱
2nd time watching this, and YES! - I've made this cut the 2 ball back in the corner shot in a match! I'm an APA 3 in 8-ball and 4 in 9-ball. Your videos have taught me not to be shy about using draw, force follow, right and left english. THANKS!
NOTE: In this video I am using my IKON 3 with the Predator 314.3 shaft. No special reason, just rotating the equipment in the videos a little. I still love my Revo and my P3. Thanks for watching!
You hype my mental up. I watch your vids and the go the pool hall. I have a table at home but it's not the same when I can implement the learned fundamentals on a unsuspecting opponent. When it works is the best feeling ever. Preesh the time u spend making great content
LOL I am an APA 3 (after 2 matches) , but I have been using most of these bank shots in 8 ball. The last bank, though was an eye opener. Thank you for that. I will be practicing that. I forgot to mention, that I am playing 9 ball for the first time in a league. It is a big adjustment. I am beginning to love my 9 ball league with APA. I had originally signed up to play 8 ball, but the "secretary" assigned me to a 9 ball team. I must say that I like the APA format.
hey thanks Brian. I always have a good chuckle at your videos. I like your style. its funny and brutally honest. ill give banking an instinctive bash. cheers fella !
What a Great Video !! You just helped me out in a Great Way !!!! Thanks ( The image of the cue ball and where t strike the cue ball Helps Out So Much ... )
You are truly a great teacher. You make it easy to follow and recreate it. People need to listen and learn from your knowledge you share with us. Thanks so much.
Thanks so much Bryan this is great, I can understand this left to go right English now. I'm a senior and play everyday at the center 8 & 9 ball. I l really like the bank shots and some guys dread them - they are fun to do. Thanks for your help, great video.
Thank you sooo much for this video, Brian! I am the kind of pool player who would much rather prefer banking the ball over cutting the ball any day of the week because I find it more difficult to find that cut angle and now your video has also helped me to understand when banking the ball will help with my position play as well. Much appreciated!
Have seen Bugs Rucker use some contrary English for steeper banks while simultaneously positioning the cue ball for the next shot. In other words, rather than putting running English on the object ball, he forced it to shorten to the middle pocket whereas otherwise it would run towards middle of the rail. Neat stuff.
This video is going to help nearly everyone who watches it. Banking is mysterious to most, and this helps replace the mystery with explanation and examples. Also, I practice kicking as much as I do banking-lots of similarities in terms of spin and speed, except it’s about what the cue ball does when it comes off of one or more rails before contacting the object ball.
That is the TRUTH brother my son is a GIMMICK player looks at all these videos on how to bank kick ect… and always amazed on how I can get on the table and just look at the set up and make 85% of all my bank shots. I tell him It’s all insane and the years that I’ve been playing. it’s just like a basketball u need to know how to control that ROCK AND MAKE IT DO WHAT YOU WANT IT TO DO.
Hey Brian! I'm here again with another confessional. It'll be my last one (until a bigger situation comes hahaha). I feel this one is worth sharing because it happened during my first league match (USAPL 470 Fargo rating) since I've seen this video. I'm on the hill and on the 8 ball, my opponent (480 Fargo) hasn't made an 8 ball yet. He gets a timeout to figure out his best defensive shot and almost executes it perfectly. His best option was to leave me with a bank of some sort. His defense was fairly good except his object ball came back and nudged the 8 ball just enough to change a wide cross corner shot into a backwards bank cross side shot. The type of bank that this video was made for! In my previous response I told you how this has been working out for me ever since I watched the video. And that hadn't changed up until this point. I won't say I'm perfect but I'm much more successful than before and a lot closer on my misses. And have a better plan in these bank situations now. So to tonight's game when he knocked the 8 ball in position for the cross side I'm like this is the moment I've been waiting for! League match, on the hill 8 ball bank to show how this English works! I calmed myself down. Found my ghost ball. Aimed it up. It was a few inches off the rail so I made a slight adjustment as opposed to it being right on the rail. Then before my final approach I repeated to myself "let the cue ball do it's job" got down on the ball and nailed it. Perfect pocket speed. So again, Brian, thank you for your wonderful advice! This has been a game changer for me because I can get out of these tough banks without giving it much thought! Final score of my match was 160-20. It's my second dominant outing this session and I'm definitely leading the MVP for my team. After week 1 I had the most MVP points in the league but a bye week held me back. And I had a hill hill match that went to the last ball in between. But I'm gunning for the MVP of my league this session and last night should put me in the top ten! I'M FOCUSED MAN!!!!
You mentioned a one pocket shot. I would love to see you do a series of those one pocket Banks. I sometimes play an older gentleman one pocket. He amazes me with his bank shots. I very seldom win and when I do it's only because he makes a mistake and leaves me in position to shoot multiple balls in. My banking skills are lacking but I have a good eye for most other shots
You should do a version of this talking about object ball distance to the rail, and top vs bottom spin. It’s not as crucial as sidespin, but nonetheless still useful to have in your arsenal- especially players like myself who love one pocket.
Thanks Bryan. You deserve much more Followers with your great content. I am happy about every new video what i see of you in my YT timeline. Please dont´t stop making videos ;) greetings from Germany. p.s the Ikon is nicer then the P3^^ love my 4-1
Thanks again CST. We picked up 30,000 subs in the last two years without "buying them," like some channels have done. And our sub count is accelerating. So we are getting there. We also have a more mature demographic so each subscriber is move valuable (from an ad revenue prospective) than those on the teenybopper channels. lol
I’m new to learning pool We had a pool table growing up but my dad only said call your pocket I just want to go to the bar and win a game Your helping me to see the game in a whole different way Thank you!
Hey Brian thanks again for another great video always appreciate them is there any chance that you could possibly give any insight into the game and strategy of one pocket since I am fairly new to this game and eager to learn. Anything at all would be greatly appreciated thank you
I might be able to show you guys some one pocket shots in a future video. I will make a note. It might take some time since my next 13 weeks have already been recorded. Thanks for watching.
0:44 Another thing about this shot is that the cue ball gets sent on a natural trajectory through the center of the table. which came in handy last night when what I learned from this video came through in the clutch again. I had 3 balls left. I needed to use my first ball to get position for a good breakout because I had a ball stuck on the 8 ball. Well I barely nicked the 8 ball and got the slightest separation. I misjudged the speed for the breakout shot. My opponent had like 5 balls so there wasn't much defense available. I only had one way out: make a ball in the side and bank straight back underneath me using English. When I made the side pocket with pocket speed I pushed the 8 ball past one of his balls. Couldn't avoid it because they were so close. So after the bank I had to basically get to the center of the table just a little bit past the side pockets to get past his blocker. And the English to make the bank set me up perfectly on the 8 ball. I had to add a little extra speed to get past his blocker but not much. Straight in shot. Bryan, thanks again for this great advice! I set the bank up with confidence knowing that it was on only option out. He also had a ball in the pocket which made it bigger for the bank shot. And thanks to something else I learned from you yesterday I thoroughly out shot him all 3 games we played. I lost the 2nd game because I scratched misjudging the speed again. Best out of 3 league match. I'll go to that video now and share what I learned and how it has INSTANTLY paid dividends to my game.
Thanks again.... learning lots... now if i could only hit straight....lol...i actually score more banks than straight shots.... but still learning.... Vince
Great stuff! One crucial thing left out: using English to avoid a double kiss on banks you don't have enough angle on. Also would be good to mention how speed affects the transfer of spin from cue to object balls. Sorry but a mention of the difference between an object ball frozen on the rail would fit nicely in this treatment of banking.
Good video and as always very informative. You do underestimate the knowledge that most pool shooters have. Now the casual PLAYERS sure but I believe that most shooters especially who I've come in contact with do know most of these things. This topic has a difficulty that other shots don't. The table itself gives a person the unknown problem. That's why avoiding having to shot the bank shot period. The best bankers of all time will agree with me to avoid this shot but on your own personal table. Shooting banks are alot safer. But no matter how well you shot banks not something that you should rely upon. But as I stated before great video. 👍🏿
Hi sir, great video, very easy to follow as a beginner! But may I know why are you shooting below center at 10:00 but above center on the previous shot? Thanks in advance!
And if you Bank a double Bank with English the object ball will straighten up off the second rial. Because after the first real the object ball has opposites spin.
I learn a lot from Bryan. I also think I am much better than most players because I play at the level Bryan frequently refers to as the top 20% of players. I also think I'm 6 hours a day of practice for 10 years away from his level..... Which I'm not gonna do.
Yes, I teach one on one in Norristown Pennsylvania, three days a week. You can visit fxbilliards.com for more information. We charge $400 for three hours $225 for 90 minutes. But you can split the lesson with a friend.
Bro I've been out shooting twice since this video was uploaded. Last night and Monday night. Monday I made 3 out of 4 banks using English as demonstrated in this video. Last night I was 2 for 2. As long as you hit the ball a little more full than normal and use English to throw it in the pocket you will make the shot.
Aim Speed and Spin is critical in banking. Change two or all three to make the ball and get different position, or change path of object ball to avoid blockers.
Im 61. I'm new to pool. Ya I've played here and there throughout my life but I really didn't have a game. Your videos are great. I watch them whenever I can. I'm actually starting to run a few 9 ball racks after 3 months of a couple of hrs a day at the table. My question is when you shot the 6 ball from your side of the table should you not have used right English instead of left. You used left again to bring it back from the camera side of the table. Around the 10 minute mark.
You could shoot it with right or left hand English, but using inside English on that shot magnifies the difficulty tremendously. And of course your contact point changes when you change the English Thanks for your question and thanks for watching.
Bryan, Nice !! .. a very simple question for you: Okay so you know you need left hand english to make the shot (scenario) What is it that determines whether you you use TOP left or BOTTOM left English ? Is it just position or other factors? Thanks !!!
I wouldn’t sweat a miss Bryan even if it took you 10 tries I’m just glad to see you can and do miss every now and then was starting to think you was a terminator sent through time to kick everyone’s butts in pool 😂 I’ve been playing close to 30 years and I feel like a pool peasant watching you sometimes so it’s nice to see a human can be that good.
This may be a stupid question, but is transferring English from the cue ball to the object ball affected by follow or draw? In three successive shots you go high, center, low (vertically) while using left/right.
I think I understand your question- so I’ll try to answer- you can transfer English with high or low on the cue ball as long as you put a left or right spin on it. Because center left and center right will allow you more spin you could use that as well. In general I stay away from any center ball hits when possible.
Hi Bryan what kind of cue are you using in this video.. I'd like to get a good quality cue any suggestions..There are no Ballard's shops where I live .. I'd like to order online
While that is awesome how do you know where to hit the ball and what angle ?? I realize you get the spin from the english but you still have to know where to hit the object ball. Is it just hours of practice ?
You learn where to hit the ball through repetition. Every good bank shot shooter learned by shooting thousands of them. Not by using gimmicks to measure their shots. Thanks for watching
I just brought out the 314 for a bit of a change- I use the Revo every day. I like the way the 314 looks on the ikon. Just giving all the equipment a chance on camera
LOL, this is true. Remember that games like One Pocket, and Bank Pool were born in the south and mid west. They were playing those games before we knew they were games.
Guys if you watch RUclips to improve your pool game this is the only channel you need. Bryan is the ONLY Pool RUclipsr that talks for a while then demonstrates the shots all in one take. Yep. This video has paid immediate dividends the last two times I've been out to shoot. It makes certain bank shots easier to do.
Hi Bryan, great video! What’s the weight of your cue stick?
19oz
Ive watched many channels that claim to make your game better. But alot is that you have a coach that commincate on your level. Brain you are the MAN...
I requested an updated bank shot video a few weeks ago, and you said you’d work on one, and bam, here we are. Way to keep the fans happy, Bryan. 🤟👏👏👏
THANK YOU! I run into these cross rail shot positions ALL THE TIME and had no idea how others made these balls look so easy to make. I was missing the subtle english. I'm headed to the table NOW! Thanks for another great lesson!

@@FXBilliards thanks for noticing! I tell a lot of people about your channel and look forward to these videos.

Love it, I used to know all this stuff 30+ years ago. But it faded from my memory. You're helping me out A LOT. 😀
Happy to help!
I steadily listen and watch while im at work. Ive even gone so far as to implement several things ive learned recently. I shoot 4 nights a week and have learned a lot rhus far. Not sure i can speak for any other 4's out there but i do appreciate the channel.
Best pool instructor on you tube by far and I watch a lot of them. 👍🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱
Thank you very much Steve
Hey Players: Have you used english to assist you in making bank shots in the past, or even to get position from a bank shot.

Thanks B. Definitely the best Bank Shot video iv seen
You should make a video about the differences in hitting banks and long shots with and without a Revo "Low Deflection" shaft.
Brian, you are an amazing bank shooter! It shows in every shot.
Very good instruction! Simple and to the point!
Glad it was helpful!
You hype my mental up. I watch your vids and the go the pool hall. I have a table at home but it's not the same when I can implement the learned fundamentals on a unsuspecting opponent. When it works is the best feeling ever. Preesh the time u spend making great content
Man. This guy is impressive shooter. Even if edited - you still drillled several consecutive tough shots like they’re easy. Savage
Yes Sir!!!! : ) Gotta love it! Keep it simple (practice, practice, practice) ... Find yer speed!!! Be Safe
LOL I am an APA 3 (after 2 matches) , but I have been using most of these bank shots in 8 ball. The last bank, though was an eye opener. Thank you for that. I will be practicing that. Thank you very much

Excellent video banking is my favorite shot i practice everyday on banking.
Great advice. But that's redundant. Always good advice. Keep 'em commin'!
Thanks! As always, best tips, I appreciate it!
My pleasure!
Bryan this was sooooo perfect. I wish you were my best friend… Awesome video as always. Cheers from Montreal!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You have Great Knowledge! Thanks for helping my pool game!!!!
Happy to help!
You are the Mozart of Pool🙏
I like that. Thank you very much.
Good video. People watching: also remember that side spin effects the speed of the cue ball when judging your position after the bank.
You mentioned a one pocket shot. I would love to see you do a series of those one pocket Banks. I sometimes play an older gentleman one pocket. He amazes me with his bank shots. great stuff. thanks for sharing.
Monday night league is bank the eight here, this video has def helped me. Tho I still use the 7th pocket for kicking
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments
Wow, I love this man and this video!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
No i haven't, probably why i struggle with cross-side shots. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Brian. Have a great day.
Glad to help
This will be used in my up coming games.
on a 1 to 10 level of instructional perfection 10 being the best I give Brian a 10. Need I say more? 🙂
Helpful... Thanks. Aloha from Quartzsite AZ

Nice!
Ertime i watch your videos, i always thought Im watching Denzel teaching us some shots.😂 great vid as always!
More to come!

You're the best friend thanks more cool stuff to practice
No problem. Have a great day.
Just what I needed , thank you .

Vince
Thanks. Great video. I needed that
Glad it was helpful! More to come Kris. Have a great day.
Nice video on bank shots with English.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments.
I was keeping the cue ball from scratching in the corner by putting some draw on it. Thanks for watching.
And if you Bank a double Bank with English the object ball will straighten up off the second rial. Because after the first real the object ball has opposites spin.
Good tip chuck - thanks - and you are doing a great job at BYB. Keep it up.
You could also use opposite spin to straighten out the bank
Thank you Bryan
I learn a lot from Bryan. I also think I am much better than most players because I play at the level Bryan frequently refers to as the top 20% of players. I also think I'm 6 hours a day of practice for 10 years away from his level..... Which I'm not gonna do.
Need to practice Thanks!
Any time Eddie/
Do you teach any 1 on 1 classes to people? If so how much? I am interested.
Yes, I teach one on one in Norristown Pennsylvania, three days a week. You can visit fxbilliards.com for more information. We charge $400 for three hours $225 for 90 minutes. But you can split the lesson with a friend.
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
So how do you get the cue ball out of the way in time so it t doesn’t get hit by the object ball after the first hit?
I simply used the angle to get to CB past the object ball. This is not always possible. Thanks for watching
Outstanding - hearing that is one of the main reasons I enjoy making videos Thanks for your comments.
Aim Speed and Spin is critical in banking. Change two or all three to make the ball and get different position, or change path of object ball to avoid blockers.
Thanks for the comments and thanks for supporting FXB
My issue is speed with these shots. Thanks for the great video.
Glad to help
Thanks Bryan
Thanks !!!
Yeah, really depends on which direction you want to Cue Ball to go- come backwards or go forward
Good video again B, you're the best. Or like my wife calls u, Denzel Washington of pool
It looks like my predator ikon with a predator 314 third generation shaft and soft victory tip
Does a softer cue tip impart more English on the cue ball, rather than a hard tip?
In some cases it will give you more grip which does give you more spin.
Great great videos
Glad you like them!
Will these shots go the same way on a snooker table
I don’t play snooker, but I would imagine yes
@@FXBilliards thanks
What a great player
As always, thanks for watching and thanks for your comments
I love Bryan
My favorite kind of comment. Thanks for watching.
Another thing about this shot is that the cue ball gets sent on a natural trajectory through the center of the table.
How do you determine how much and what kind of English to use
That question would take an hour to answer, but I do cover more about Bankshots with english in our master class at NWQPool.com
This one got the sub
Thank you and welcome aboard
I thought you were using the Revo. Did you go back to a wood shaft?
I just brought out the 314 for a bit of a change- I use the Revo every day. I like the way the 314 looks on the ikon. Just giving all the equipment a chance on camera
Grady Mathews said that he would play anyone Bank Pool...unless they were from Kentucky, Tennessee or Chicago! Them boys can and love their Banks
LOL, this is true. Remember that games like One Pocket, and Bank Pool were born in the south and mid west. They were playing those games before we knew they were games.
Easy does it!!! Just fantastic no gimmick!!! No tape measure needed 😂😂😂
My hat off!
