This is why I don’t understand how people say SN is more free to play friendly than LN. Yes, SN gives us more free diamonds, welfares and resources, but how far do those dias actually go? Is it really more free to play friendly when the amount of gems you get can barely put a dent in an event? It baffles me that I can throw 20k aka about ~$300 USD (providing you still had your double dias, otherwise it’s more like $400) and potentially not have the UR suit and an echo. You can’t really directly compare the two games, as I would imagine a 3D game would cost more to make and maintain, but when you’re going from 20k getting you at least 7+ suits ( 4 main suits, 3 minor suits and a 2D live) to 2 suits, that’s a major jump.
SN is literally designed to make you spend on it and in a pretty predatory way too.
In LN, all I need is a monthly diamond card and I'm kinda set if I don't spend for the month on suits I don't like. By the end of the month, I can have a lot of diamonds, and that's not counting the free diamonds you might get from postcards, codes, etc.
In SN, they urge you to spend on a fashion pass, a regular diamond card, a premium diamond card, and maybe some of their packs to reap all the game's benefits. They even have a second diamond currency for you to buy. And the major problem is that you can't really enjoy the game to its full potential without them. I had a premium diamond card for a month and after it ended, the game felt super slow and every move you make can result in you compromising stuff. It certainly felt "freer" with the prem card.
I know they don't force people to spend, but the fact of the matter is that SN just gives more reasons to the player to spend.
@@saloosh777 Yes! I was wondering if I was going crazy saying that the game isn’t more f2p friendly, I’m glad to see someone agrees with me. A monthly card gets you so far in LN, I'm pretty good unless they hit me with a slew of events I like one after the next. The privilege card really does help things go a lot smoother, mine is running out and I'm wondering if I can play well without it having gotten accustomed to the boost.
Another thing is that paying in SN really gives you an advantage in the game, you’re able to rank higher in the Arena, you don’t get stuck not having enough styling power during stages etc. It takes pretty long and it's very hard to do those things if you’re a free player, especially if you haven’t been playing from launch. You’re able to play everything easily in LN without having to spend a dime, there’s bottlenecks in chapters, but it’s only waiting to farm the items, not getting stuck for an indefinite amount of time because you don’t have enough styling power.
Another thing that irritates me is that a lot of the backgrounds and stickers we get, are for purple gems. That threw me for a loop, most of the backgrounds in LN (except for a few that come with recharge suits) are accessible to everyone, and the background items come with the suit you’re getting so they’re not a separate money purchase. Background stuff is what helps make creating fun, and it’s already lacking in SN because the stickers, although I’ve seen people do really creative things with them, aren’t nearly as nice as background items in LN, and they’re charging for them?! I honestly feel those are things that should be mostly earned during the event, or obtainable along with the suit. And yes, I know they give us free backgrounds and stickers too, but I don’t really see why they had to put so many of them behind a paywall. I was also surprised to learn, that SN's diamond consumption events are purple gems too. Diamond consumption events in LN are such a nice opportunity for a 2-for-1, you could craft something you like, or spend on the current event and get an extra suit for your troubles. But now a diamond consumption event is like another recharge event.
Ending to say that both games can be played just fine without spending, you can get clothes (as long as you’re very discerning) and play through the game levels. In SN however, you’re going to be hitting a lot of walls in terms of not having enough styling power to get past story levels, or to nab the arena suit during the season. Both of those things can be achieved in time, but it can be a very frustrating process being stuck for a while. Then with how powerful you are being a lot more dependent on luck (in terms of getting decent designer’s reflections and echoes to awaken them) LN is just a far easier experience to play for free.
@@djilleethunte9342 I don’t understand how there are people out there who think this game is “generous” and more “f2p”. If they even took a second to calculate the cost of things opposed to the diamonds they throw at you, you’d still have to save up for a long time. There’s nothing “friendly” about a game where you can literally spend upwards of 150+ bucks to finish a UR suit and still actually not finish it AND have the chance to get duplicates (it just feels like they’re crapping on their players even more with that since they spent so damn much). I don’t mean to be judgmental and I understand its not my money to spend, but it’s just TOO much money being spent on fake clothes. Like, if you think about it, LN’s “fake clothes” are still cheaper and still look nice. The newer events are very high quality with the suits and their animations. Spending 100 dollars on LN will get you 7+ suits. Spending 100 dollars on SN is like buying a few chances to get only one full suit. The “generosity” ain’t adding up 😂
@@saloosh777 It really isn’t 😅, that’s why LN has claim to most of my wallet, I don’t think I'd ever make a large purchase on SN, it just is not worth it. Like the current recharge is $20, for one SR suit that looks like it could be a welfare, my monthlies are running out so I probably would get it when I renew them but goodness, why is it so much?!
