Seeing the previews of this game in the mags back then, was like WOW ! Super excited but in the end even Body blows did a better job of putting a decent fighter on the Amiga!
Thank you for adding all the endings. Amiga has the best music and for me it´s the best version as I grew with it. I don´t care about any other versions.
Arcade inaccurate. Ran at about 10fps, but the best version. Amiga fanboys can be so irrational. Your version could be an animated poop emoji and you'd still say it was the best version... ...oh wait.
When you don t have anything else, you learn to appreciate it to the max. I had NES and Amiga500. True the movement was more smooth on the NES, but, and this is a big BUT, the music was way better on AMIGA out of all platforms.@@TheVampirePredator
I don't think the develpors put even a sliver of effort into this port. I remember being so excited for this game on Christmas morning I almost had an aneurysm. I couldn't wait to dive in and enjoy this arcade classic but as soon as I started playing it was an instant downer for me. This terrible port put a stain on the Amigas otherwise excellent reputation
Thank you....yes the "original" arcade staple must have game to play with all your friends! Everybody, line up your quarters and wait your turn to play the winner! Those were the days.
The biggest problem I have with all these home computer SF2 ports is that none of them even try to copy most of the epic music found in the arcade (something the Genesis port and even the SNES port were able to easily accomplish). Its not like the sound hardware in these machines would have been unable to reproduce the music (as evidenced by the music tracks they did include). Was there a license issue with the music? Not enough space (on disk or in RAM)? Lack of development time?
Disk space was the likely problem. Game was on 4 disks, majority of music on Amiga was sample based so didn't compress very well, if they'd done all the music, game might have been 5-6 disks worth. It was terrible enough without adding more disk swaps to it
You might want to check out the MS-DOS version of Street Fighter II Turbo then because the music in that port is so great that it is even better than the arcade
Are you serious. The SNES and Genesis (2T) blow this out of the water in graphics and gameplay. Amiga owners have an irrational obsession with that hardware.
So many memories here. Let's be honest it's absolutely awful in so many ways. In spite of that I played it to death. It was the only version I had at the time.
When this game was all the rage on the home consoles , and you got this port, then you knew the Amiga just didn't have what it takes when it came to near arcade perfect conversions, hell even compare the CD32 version of Super Streerfighter 2 to the 3DO version
MrMikehunt87 yeah though via a colour and sound hack its been shown that there was plenty of room for improvement for Capcom, but they just didn't bother
I noticed a lot of animations are different from the Capcom-developed versions. Someone on Mugen Fighter’s Guild even recreated these with the arcade and snes versions.
I'm sure half of these developers 'at the time, just got a shoe box with the music, and characters and effects. Effect were simple but the music never had labels on it either it seems.
Well of course US Gold made some good games, but this is not one of them. Both Super Street Fighter 2 ports on the Amiga are way better, this is just really sloppy in terms of hit detection, music, and controls.
Wow, character select music used for Ryu/Dhalsim/Blanka/Balrog stages, Las Vegas music used for bonus car stage, Ryu's music used for barrel/Vega stages, Ken's music used for Guile's stage, etc, etc. Most of them sound awful too.
I don't know how to explain it properly, but you can really tell where port of a Japanese game was made by Japanese developers and where - by Western developers. I mean, usually Japanese really care about controls, stable frame rate, quality and quantity of music and sound, number of stages, how to make in-game graphics look less compressed etc. American/British developers just don't give a damn.
Mr. Grongy+ Western developers just want to make the port as quickly as possible and generate the most profit (even if the end product is a bag of shit). Only exceptions would be Sonic for the megadrive/genesis and Donkey Kong Country for the snes. I'm sure there's more out there but it always seems a minority that are worth their money as opposed to the majority.
Tom Caine+ Saying negative things about East or West isn't racism. As I said earlier, you really are a dunce of the highest order if you saw any racism in my earlier comment.
What a mess. What we're seeing here, is the exact reason that the Amiga died. British Amiga owners would have been having none of this, after seeing the SNES version. They already had to tolerate the pathetic port of Out Run, then US Gold did it again here. Fast forward to Doom not appearing on the Amiga 1200 or CD32, and it's over. Everyone's abandoned ship for the 486 PC, SNES and Mega Drive.
The graphics looks choppy just like the Arcade gameplay, but the controller of the Amiga 500 look uncomfortable, but the game looks like crap and slow, with misunderstood music gameplay
And how do you know if the white guy is mugging the black guy, 'cOnTeXT iS eVErYThiNg'. Why do you think the *Black* guy is the bad person. I'm black irl. So shut the fuck up and be a family man.
Lack of animation frames... maybe this port is not good but not that bad also. It was hard to port game for Amiga. Coding for Amiga is extremally difficult especially porting games. Games designed for amiga like fighting spirit is created for amiga limitations. I'm not blame Usgold for this port because any company have restricted time for development and maybe this is rush port but I'm not sure. Game lacks frames probably because of disk space. It is many very detailed stages in SF2 and also fighters. If USgold wanted to include all frames and more detailed stages then game should be 10 disks. Amiga lacks HD disk drive unfortunately. Street fighter The new challenger for amiga is on 7 disks and more frames but graphic is much downgraded in comparison to arcade...
@@jackhakken So true, sadly if you don't like Mortal Kombat and only liked SF2 back then as an Amiga 500 to 4000 owner you were 100% screwed. US Gold REALLY helped sales of the SNES SF2 bundle in the UK (sold bugger all in the UK until the SF2 bundle was launched). Funny thing is you could do arcade quality fighters on Amiga 1200 using just the much improved AGA Sprites in BLITZ Basic!
the Amiga was capable of much more. for example the port of Theme Park was much more faithful to the PC original on the Amiga than the Genesis version. But in the case of this street fighter port this was just a terrible port job. The Amiga could've pulled off a much better port than this. And the Amiga was one of the first 16 bit gaming machines, so ahead of it's time. I still feel so lucky to have had an Amiga as my first gaming system. I feel like I got to experience 16 bit gaming way before I should have (1987 when I got an Amiga 500 instead of the NES that I wished for... Got an NES a bit later on. Love both machines of course. Technically the Amiga was way wayy ahead of it's time. It was much more popular in Europe and I guess nobody in the US even knew of it. It was the successor to the Commodor 64)
N64? The same console that has the Bafta award winning Goldeneye, which has an incredible soundtrack (better than the actual movie)? Sorry, but no. The Amiga SFII sounds nothing like that.
Seeing this again brings back horrific memories

LilReiko, eu nunca joguei o Amiga original, só estou conhecendo agora. Mas essa versão de Street Fighter ficou mal feita demais.
