@@HVACLife I'm a dope, I knew it was Josh, sorry about that. I've been calling my wife's friends husband Damian for 2 years and he told me last week it's actually Dante...lol

I can't find any information about Amprobe ULD-410 vs this Accutrak one. Is that the one you tested, ULD-410 or ULD-420? Or did you try the ULD-400/405? Strange, as the Amprobe has a MUCH wider frequency range, which could theoretically pick up many more leaks or leak types. Would love to know more about the comparison, but like you said, isn't anything out there besides your comments here and at HVAC Talk forums.

@@HVACLife Thanks a bunch for the extra info on the comparison. Yeah the ULD-300 was the older model that Amprobe recently replaced. Of course the made in america thing is a huge plus - but still would be curious to see how it compares.
-Yeah the new Amprobe ULD-410 says it has 20kHz to 90kHz range, with intelligent auto noise filters (those filters are important from what I hear, and the ULD-405 doesn't have them, just the 410 and 420).
-The Accutrak is 36kHz to 42kHz, quite a narrow range and just wondered if that limited it somehow.
-The older Amprobe ULD-300 that you tested, is 35kHz to 45kHz, similar to the Accutrak.
I can see how the gooseneck probably made the difference, especially with the sensor being at the tip of the gooseneck.
Absolutely, soon I'll have to get the ULD-410 and the Accutrak, and compare them in a video with a proper leak set up. Interested in what sets them apart as they both are heterodyning type technology.
Then of course, there is the Accutrak VPE-1000... which is another step up in price but makes me wonder how it compares too on leak searching? haha

Oh, I don't like reviewers like you. Which generally cannot unlock the potential and fully show all the functionality of the device. At the very end, when your sensor stopped detecting a leak, it happened because there was no pressure. There should be at least 150 psig or even 400 depending on the contours. At such values, the device will really show its functionality and show its work in action.

That is true that ultrasonic does very poorly with low pressure. If I had a better test rig I’d use it
