  • I "fix" a Mega ST by re-seating the MMU, put it through its paces testing it, to make sure I REALLY fixed it, and then fix some miscellaneous little things.

An easy fix is the best one. As for battery, you could also use li-ion batteries in AA size.

So glad I found your channel! I have other Atari STs but recently got 2 MegaSTs. One works and one works but has no video. Would love to bounce some questions off you if possible.
Also, I built an internal ACSI2STM in the Mega and found that Ultima IV issue as well. I noticed on a 520 and the same HD image, it will switch to low res automatically. I upgraded the Mega from 1.02 to 1.04 (with a homemade similar TOS upgrade you found in this video) and the Mega still had probs. Not sure what is causing that.
Would it be possible to reverse engineer that PC card or are there PAL/GAL chips on there?

I have the same cased UltraSatan and using the same PP drivers and all is good and hooked up to my STacy but I also have a 520 ST and it’s got an SH204 that’s workin but it’s on its last leg. I have to manually spin the stepper motor shaft prior to powering on to get it to spin up. The SH204 has some form of ACSI to SCSI board in it that has a cable going to another board that converts to MFM. I’m wondering, could I take that same SD card and put it in a BlueSCSI and rename the disk image to the naming convention a BlueSCSI wants and would it work on an Atari ST with a proper ACSI to SCSI converter?
And then would the BlueSCSI work in the SH204’s ACSI to SCSI board?
I think the ACSI to SCSI may not be standard in the SH204. But what about the BlueSCSI and the UltraSatan disk image?

Check out my Bluescsi build video. I tried exactly what you are proposing and couldn’t get either PP or HDDriver to recognize the bluescsi in the SH204. It works flawlessly with a SCSI2SD adapter though. ICD Hard disk drivers might work, but I didn’t try those. I ended up putting the bluescsi in a Mac IIsi I had needing a drive.

@@powerofvintage9442 ohhh! I saw that one already. I didn’t realize it was you though. Ok so maybe bluescsi in general is just not the way to go for an Atari ST since it is ACSI.

iirc the pcspeed needs to boot DOS from floppy.
