This was the second time he was with the Deele. The first time they had a hit song called Sweet November. He quit them and had his first solo album, Lovers. He then rejoined them and made this song. Then he quit again and had a second solo album call tenderlover that put him on the map

A little biographical info: Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds got his first hit when he co-wrote Slow Jam (a song you reacted to some time ago BTW) back in 1983 for SOLAR Records artist Midnight Star, which was also the same label that the Deele was signed to at the time. Edmonds was later given his nickname backstage at a show, when legendary Funk musician Bootsy Collins jokingly exclaimed that Edmonds had a 'baby-face'. The name stuck, and the rest is history. Love your reactions BTW Ashley, keep them coming.
Absolutely its Baby face on the hook Those SMOOTH leads are Darnell Bristol and Carlos "Satin" Greene I'm going to send this to Mr. Greene. Im sure he will enjoy your reaction.
Yep, quiet storm radio music. The Deele had some smooth jams. But if you have time can you react to The Deele "Shoot 'em Movie" my fav from them. ty for this reaction brings back
The third guy in After 7 isn't his cousin. When the group first came out, they said he was LA's cousin, but that was false as well. Don't know why they felt the need for that fiction lol.
Yes that is Kenneth Babyface Edmonds. This was His second time with the Deele. The first time he was with the Deele, They had a hit song called Sweet November. Babyface left the group then and had his first solo album called Lovers (check out the title song you would not be disappointed!). He then rejoined the Deele and made this song and another song called shoot 'em up movies. He left the group once and for all and went solo for his second album called Tender Lover. The album blew him up as a solo artist Nationwide. He never looked back since. He started out as a songwriter. This first hit songs He wrote for midnight Star called play another slow jam. Dick Griffey the owner of solar records, asked Babyface to join the Deele, which was already an established band but they were struggling. When he joined the group they had their first hit. So no he didn't create that group but he sure enough became the main focus. Also he was in a group before them called manchild
Yes ma'am, that was Babyface, and the dark skinned guy with the curly hair is L.A. Reid, who played drums and percussion for the Deele, the band they started out with in the 80s. They had a few hits back then.
And yes, it’s Babyface. Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. His brothers formed the group “After 7”, with an awesome hit “Nights Like This” (I wish Raindrops Would Fall)
They’re a super talented family, if you haven’t checked them out already Babyface has 2 brothers that were lead singers in the group After 7. “Ready Or Not” is an all time classic.
That is indeed the great Kenny Babyface Edmonds. LA Reid on drums. They created some of the greatest hits for two generations as songwriter/production team. ( End of Road, I'll Make Love to You - Boyz II Men, TLC Redlight District, Slow Jam, Whitney Houston's, hits on the Waiting to Exhale sound track to name a few but thier catalog is deep and full of Grammy winning music.
"Two Occasions" was from 1987 37 years ago, those guys was young, face was about 28 people do age overtime and there's no time in videos Soon as I Get Home 1989 "Whip Appeal" 1990
That was my favorite song me and my brother did the song in my sister's wedding my family has a musical background that's what I think every man should say to his Queen that's what I say but I have to find a queen
@clintongray5065 yes, Babyface is often overlooked, but he's taken so many careers to the next level from Toni Braxton, Tevin Campbell, Bobby Brown, Boyz ll Men, Karen White and so many more
Face on piano and vocals LA on drums, LA and Babyface also formed a record company LaFace Records they also wrote and produced super legends super famous super rich😊
Babyface did the majority of the writing, while LA handled the business side. It all came to light when he wouldn't lie in court about the bad deal LA had signed Toni Braxton to. They went their separate ways shortly after.
Lol yes mama that is infact babyface! Also la reid is there too and this is how we got la and babyface later. This was his comming out song! This really when the world first heard him
You read my mind.. I was just getting ready to request this and bam here we go.. this is a true love song,, it means alot to me, 1st time I fell in love, this was Our song ❤This song is timeless, just gets better, like the finest wine ❤
No he did not start this group. They were already established but were struggling. Dick Griffey the owner of solar records asked them to put baby face into the group. That's when they started having hit songs. The first hit song was called Sweet November which the group Troop remade. He then left the group the first time and did his first solo album Lovers. Check it out It's a badass album that a lot of people don't know about. He then rejoined the Deele And they made this song two occasions. He left them once and for all and had the second album Tender lover which was a smash hit and he never looked back
Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and L.A. Reid (on drums) were in the Deele...before they started LaFace Records and Babyface became a huge solo artist. I love this song, the hook is so clever (1987). You can also catch The Deele in Pebbles video for her hit, "Girlfriend"! Pebbles went on the marry L.A. Reid but they are divorced now! I love Babyface's voice! 💖💖
Yes, Babyface, & L.A. Reid on drums. They became the production team that brought the group, TLC to the world, & produced many hits for many artists before going their own ways. Fun Fact: If you check an interview with Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak of Silk Sonic, you can hear that the legendary bassist funk master Bootsy Collins not only named the band Silk Sonic, but he also named Baby Face, whose real name is Kenny Edmonds. Soon as Bootsy saw him in studio he said, ‘Yo whas up Babyface?’ 😅 Rest is history.
Yes, Babyface and LA Reid were with the group The Deele before they hit big as producers and Babyface as a solo artist. They have some good ballads, "Just My Luck", "Shoot Em Up Movies", "I'll Send You Roses" and "Sweet November"
Thee one and only and great maestro "BABYFACE" crazy how even back then when Babyface was young and getting his feet wet in the music business, we all knew he was going to be special...
Ashley, Funkateer Icon (Bootsy Collins) walked into the room of The Deele and upon laying eyes on a young "Kenny Edmonds" he blurted out "O' Babyface!!". Originally Kenny didn't like the gesture until he notice at their concerts that everyone in the group had a nickname & recieved screams from the ladies but "Kenny" was basic and didn't get the screams, so the next night he was introduced as "Babyface" and the ladies went CRAZY! So needless to say, the name stuck. lol Incidently, that same Bootsy Collins gave "Silk Sonic" their name as well. Ashley, Bootsy could have named you "Babyface" too! ...'cause I know you think you grown even though you ain't but 14/15 years old! 😮 (👶🏾🍼)
Ashley do you remember the R&B group “Next” or “Rated Next” ? They sang the song “Too Close” They sampled Two Occasions for their song “I Still Love You” 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes that's a young Babyface....its a classic...that should not have been redone/remixed by Ashanti and Plies...🤣🤣🤣But Im going to let them make it...this time..LOLOLOL Jkjk👀 "I'd go for broke if I could be with you...." (love that line as well) 🎵🎹🎶
Yes of course that is Babyface with now producer LA Reid. My favorite down tempo by Babyface after this is his great "I Love You Babe" which few people react to though it was big hit on the R&B charts. Give it a listen.
That's when Baby Face was in a group before he went solo
This was the second time he was with the Deele. The first time they had a hit song called Sweet November. He quit them and had his first solo album, Lovers. He then rejoined them and made this song. Then he quit again and had a second solo album call tenderlover that put him on the map
