When dancing in my school (UK) in class on 2, both leads and follows break backwards on 2 (follow lead's timing). Seen the same in youtube videos. I've actually never seen leads breaking forward on 2 in class. You say you've never seen it but I'm pretty sure Patrick and Scarlet also follow lead's timing in 'on 2' TDD videos when they demonstrate movements side by side.
Mmm interesting! pat and scar definitely break forward on2 when doing shines in a class.
@@thedancedojo You're right, they do. Seems like there's fair amount of parameters to agree on if you want to dance with a person you don't know :)
@@kuzmajacek yea im not surprised people get confused
There's one thing in on2 socials, the lead switches to the followers rhythm in shines, and then goes back, now what's the point of that?
At 02:40 I mention that when doing shines there's no rules. The lead and the follow can dance on any time they want. So in this case it's lead's decision to what they do and so you'd have to ask each individual lead why they made that decision! -Robin
I’m guessing because when you learn shines On2 in class you’re dancing on the follower’s timing, so that’s how you’re used to initiating shines

Emy s hot.
So how wrong is it if I start on 5? I stil don t recognise when 1 starts
It's not the end of the world, it's just a convention to start on1. If you want helping finding the 1 check out my "FTB" "finding the beat in salsa music" playlist/series on RUclips. It'll be a huge help. -Robin
What timing one dances does not matter once you on rhythm..lots of dancers dance to how they interpret the music so the followers should go with the lead.. because the musicians are playing 4/4
yup there's lots of freedom, more than most think.
