Pretty hilarious comment. Though I wonder if the last domino has any symbolic meaning. I say this since he picks it up and examines it as though unsure on how to deal with the last piece of the puzzle. You could say that the domino is the inspector. In my efforts to become a better writer, I've been studying up on literary symbols. Seeing this scene now, it takes on a whole new meaning. The inspector is talking about how things are being set up according to plan, and the plan includes things to go "wrong," or as he puts it, "someone will do something stupid." And we see events unfolding just like how V wanted them to: less of a structured measure and more one catastrophe naturally and organically begets the next. And the dominos represent this idea perfectly. The best symbols are those we don't immediately realize reinforce the scene, usually at a subconscious level when we first see it, thus making it's impact both more subtle and more powerful. Stuff like this really shows how much more thought and purpose goes into every detail and scene than the casual movie viewer realizes.
To add to this, I like to think that the last domino standing represents that, in order for the plan to be completed, V needs to do one last thing, AKA die with his vengeance. As he said, he is a part of the world he wants to destroy, so to erase every element of it, he also needs to go.
In a movie that relies a lot on montages, this one is so smartly and wonderfully done - the performances, the editing, the monologue... it's the true explosion that ends the world. The rest is epilogue.

This story is way more than 9 years old, it is taken from an adult comic series. Astoundingly, this maybe one of the best translations from written/drawn to movie screen. All the elements were held true and conveyed from the series to the screen.
@@galacticaone9537 I agree it was a good film but there are notable changes. If the chancellor died in the comic, then it was under very different circumstances than in the film. Instead, V's last fight is with the detective and V doesn't kill him but allow himself to be mortally wounded. Evey's hide out was different in the film, too. In the comic, she was more on her own; her relationship to her host was less friendly and more estranging. Her leave from there was also different. Further, in the film Evey leaves V after her transformation while in the comic she stays and prepares herself both physically and mentally with V as her teacher. This ties neatly into the fact that in the film the concept of V ends with V's death, while in the comic Evey takes up the mask to continue his revolutionary work. The film presents the end as closed: now that the revolution has become public it has succeeded, as if all was achieved now that the people have taken to the street and united under an important symbol of change (the destruction of the parliament building). This feels unfulfilling, given that all the work of restructuring their country and starting to rule themselves lies still ahead of those people.
I beg to disagree, the best scene for me personally is "would you really want to know?" because it forces the viewer to confront their own inherent weaknesses as a human being, turning a blind eye to injustice, making excuses for abhorrent behaviour, the desire to protect ones own self and/or family at the expense of others. "would you really want to know?" because would you actually have the strength to fight against it instead of cowering in the protection of your sofa with your family while the abuses play out disconnectedly on a TV screen that allow you to mentally absolve yourself of any culpability or responsibility...... "would you really want to know?"
Yeah. Myself and my family is quite more important than some individual on the street screeching about his view point of "injustice". Especially when his screeching leads to violence against other innocent people who had nothing to do with the injustice and are trying to get along in the same community as everyone else... Its even more important when those same people then JUSTIFY their violence as righteous, despite the fact that none of it was righteous and innocent people, and their property, were harmed. If you're that pathetic to where your actions hurt others, and you no longer care for their hurt, even more so desire to see them hurt because of injustice caused by government, you're doing exactly what the government wants, and you're being useful pawns to encourage more laws, more dictatorship, and more injustice. And then call people who go after said government, simply because of a difference of opinion, seditionists when they know the government is to blame for the injustice, the hurt, the pain, the inequity and inequality, the poverty, the lack of solutions and the development of problems, the endless wars and suffering. Make truth relative, and at this point, your truth is as irrelevant to me, as my truth is to you. So why should I care when your opinion sees me the problem for not including myself, when that same problem also says that because of who I am, what I believe, and what I'm born as, inherently makes me the problem to society? I'll stay home, go to work, and pay my government mandated theft of personal income, increase my personal arsenal, buy up ammo, food and water, and await the coming collapse. Because you fools surrendered our Constitutional Republic, and Dangerous Freedom, for the sake of soft, benevolent tyranny. And thus, none of you deserve either freedom, or safety.
@@JohnDoe-wt9ek Have you seen the movie? If you had you would know the context in which the question "would you really want to know?" is asked. Hint: It's not about "some individual on the street screeching about his view point of 'injustice . . . '" What individual are you talking about? "Some individual on the street screeching about his view point...." -- sounds like freedom of speech to me. And whose "screeching" has led to "violence against innocent people?" To whom are you referring? I can think of someone whose screeching has led to violence, but something tells me you probably look up to said individual so I won't get into that. I hope you never have to "screech" in the street for justice for yourself or your family. If you do, hopefully your audience will be more merciful than you are.
Great story telling. So much happens in such a short space of time yet it's all clear and simple to follow... and emotionally effective. And a fantastic film.
What people often miss about this movie is the fact it is not about revolution or good guy beats bad guy and so on. It is about control trough engineered panic created via several engineered panic starting events (the bio terror attacks) then boosted by media campaigns and in the end people surrendering their freedom for security. That is the real ‘plot’. And has always been and always overlooked. Same as the Armin Zola monologue in Winter Soldier. Probably a bit more interesting in the times we live in.

The last domino piece, which V did not expect or plan for, is Evee. This is why he gives her the final choice to send the train filled with explosives to destroy parliament, the culmination of his life's work. It's why the last domino piece is on the train with him when she decides to pull the lever. Evee (EV) is the missing emotional side of V, which he admits to in his last moments with her when he says he had been driven and fuelled by rage his entire life. He knows it's not chance when he meets her in the alleyway at the beginning, as he says "I, like God, do not play with dice".

My big surprise with angry Vets and sniper abilities haven't done something to scare the gvts
Du hörst dich gern reden.

@@bigbowlowrong4694 Making an opposing statement in a comment that's over a Year Old. You couldn't simply disagree and keep scrolling by continuing to live your life? You had to contradict not a fact, but someone else's opinion. How pathetic are you? 😂😂😂😂
John hurt was such a great actor and his legendary performances and voice will forever be remembered
2:22 - a hint at the future... that the Detective and Evey would one day know each other. A nice little touch, since it is so easy to miss.
Wow, never noticed that one before!
They meet at the end of the movie and send V off on his train together. This probably implies they started up a relationship afterwards, perhaps even getting married.
@@0megacron Erm… The Detective was already married, though...
and then natalie portman was like "date?"
and, suddenly, he was a single man. funny that.
jamham69 You mean no longer single?
When this movie came out. It was a mind blow! Visual listening poetry in it's purest form!!
The huge emotional impact is when the movie producers decided to use real footage from riots and put them in the movie. That just hits on a whole different level.
One long chain of events that stretched long back before Covid 19.
John Hurt didn't do much in this movie, but what did was awesome.
“WE ARE BEING BURIED BENEATH AN AVALANCHE OF YOUR INADEQUACIES MR CREEDY” Amazing actor. RIP.
Definitely 1 of my top 10 films.
You can not comply your way out of tyranny. Become ungovernable.
It’s crazy on how all these years of anonymous hacker group was inspired by this masterpiece of a movie and still remains as relevant as today.
2:55 : "With so much chaos, someone will do something stupid. When they do, things will turn nasty."
*YOU ARE HERE, UNITED STATES.*
I am really surprised you didn't get a million thumbs up for this! I was your 5th
"And then Chancellot Sutler will do the only thing he knows best"...POLICE MILITARIZATION. "LAW AND ORDER!!!"...too real for today!
Yeah man I hate the liberals from the us , they are so insane they are so racist and sexist , they being races and genders in everything.
The chaos is by design. The dominoes are set for November. Tick tock.
@Paul Kersey you're a gullible fucking idiot
And what happens when we abandon the lie? Chaos. A gaping pit to swallow us all.
Chaos isn't a pit, chaos is a ladder.
Either for those that want to rise in power or to be free of it.
@bruse wayne true but faith is very powerful and dangerous. The best leaders had the support of their religious leaders. Like GoT, medieval kings had the power of God (church) supporting their rule similar to the theocracies of Israel and Muslim countries.
@bruse wayne Oh no, I didn't mean that religion is a lie or anything. I am a Christian myself. It is just that faith is a powerful force for good or evil and throughout history it has plagued so many people. Who needs to justify their actions when they do it in the name of God. I think that after the fall of catholicism and religion as a means of governance, people looked to a new replacement, ideology. That is where Marxism took place and it replaced religion as a means of faith and oppression. Don't mean to bad mouth the spiritual value of religion.
@bruse wayne It's fine. At least for me. There are those without mercy. I've studied history alot in school and analyzed it quite a bit so I learn most of what I know from history itself.
Chaos is the beginning!
Laddah!
You could overlay this incredible scene with current government goings-on, and it still fits perfectly.
Here's the issue. Both parties think that they're V, snd both think that the other side are sheep that need to wake up
@@JusticeFrogs Here’s the bigger issue, there is only one “side“ currently devastated because a particular social media platform is allowing their political opposition to speak freely.
That tells me everything I need to know about that “side.“
@@highpriestofgavinalmightyh1304 I don't know of any side that's devastated. I do know that use of racial slurs is up by a factor of 5 since on that social media platform since that the new owner fired the entire content moderation team. Are you saying that one of the two sides is basically just all racial slurs?
@@JusticeFrogs Then you haven’t actually been on Twitter. It is a salt mine of upset Democrat loyalists and establishment hacks lamenting that those with whom they disagree may speak freely.
At no point in time did I even suggest that racial slurs are used by “one side.“ In fact, if you ever go onto black Twitter, you’re going to see some rather colorful language, and it’s not typically by muh white people.
Instead of still mindlessly nodding the head to media narrative, I recommend following up for yourself.
There is also a lot of great speech back on Twitter by users who should have never been censored, suspended, or banned in the first place.
You’re approaching the idea of you or those with your particular political opinions silencing dissenting voices by appealing to faux virtue.
It was reasonable and good ideas also being silenced by the likes of Dorsey and Agarwal. It was not simple “racial slurs.”
No one is being silenced for their opinions at this point. That’s a good thing. It also gives us the ability to challenge dumb opinions unimpeded
Calls to violence and genuine harassment/spamming/botting do result in reprimand.
Under Musk, the majority of CP has already been removed from Twitter. It was on there for years, and known about-having been reported multiple times, including by some of the victims.
The legacy media we are still supposed to implicitly trust for whatever reason is seriously conflating him removing child abuse and violent leftist groups to him silencing the left which I find morbidly hilarious.
@@highpriestofgavinalmightyh1304 So you find it hilarious when the the opposition gets "silenced" but only when its the correct opposition. Harassment gets reprimanded, but only when its the correct side being harassed. Racial slurs are fine, and should be celebrated though. Understood.
This movie is so epic that every movie clip seems like it’s the trailer for it.
This is one of my favourite movies of the 21st century. I've watched it around 10 times. Always enjoy it.
