Good Evening Big Strappers. Thanks for dropping by to watch the video. Well was it worth the wait? What are your thoughts on the truck? And the Lettuce King? Want more Lettuce King? (He was pretty subdued in this video. )
I'm a mechanic myself. Here in Iran, where spare parts for old American Trucks are extremely hard to find, we rebuild old Mack R600s and they are a legend amongst Iranian drivers. Seeing this, I have to confess that when you build a truck from scratch, using parts from so many different trucks, you are on the next level. Thank you for good content 👍
@@charlietaylor6389 that's sad. What's more sad is that this political situation is not the choice of Iranian people. We are trapped in this. Iran is like a pink diamond covered in poop. 😢
That truck is a mechanics wet dream. It amazes me the talent some people have for taking bits and pieces from different models and years and making one awesome truck out of a pile of parts.
This was well worth watching! I love the old rides. I’m 55 and recall my Dad and Grandfather running Diamond Reo. They’re only in museums now. Bring on more like this.
I really enjoyed meeting the Lettuce King and his custom Peterbilt! I wish I could do what he does! I would love to learn more about the rivets on the Cab!
Wow ... I hope I can build trucks like that when I grow up #amazing👌 love how he says he’s “budget oriented” on this build ... wish I had a budget like that on my builds 😂
Sad I missed the premier. The lettuce king is definately the kind of trucker I want to be. Can't say enough how much I like the truck. If y'all put that one on a shirt an maybe his previous trucks id buy em all.
Anthony of Indy with prime..not for long.. the lettuce King rules and yes... would love to see more of the king..... Go.. smart trucking thank you. Anthony
I'm and old school x produce hauler from North Carolina. I enjoy the Lettuce King video. I've driven a couple triple digit rigs way back. I heard you mention Edward Gantt AKA Southern Shaker. He and my father where about the same age. I grew up around him. He was a hell of a man. One of the nicest people you will ever meet. I spoke to him a few weeks before he passed.
I love seeing all of these videos with the rebuilt trucks. I send them to my dad. My grandfather used to drive and I rode with him on occasion as a kid. Please show more videos like this.
I grew up riding in my uncle Joe's 1969 W925 with a 380 Cummins and Spicer 4x4 transmissions. He hauled milk with it for Milk Express in Florida. That truck was unreal fast especially for those days, 100+ MPH was no problem. Many a truck with a 318 Detroit ate his smoke. He's the reason I started building them and putting drivers behind the wheel. I love finding an old abandoned truck out behind someones house and having it brought to my shop so I can tear it down, bead blast the frame, and start to put them back together with fresh power, gears, and rears. I'm building a C500 at the moment thats getting a C18 (800 hp industrial engine with Pittsburgh Power exhaust manifold), 18 speed transmission, and a Meritor RZ-188 tridem. These are heavier than the RZ-166's Ive used in the earlier tridems Ive built. A nobel truck desires the best equipment available. There's money in hauling for the military. Here in Middle Tennessee I am close to Ft. Campbell Ky and Arnold AFB in Tullahoma Tn.
This is the Best video I think you’ve ever uploaded and you guy’s have uploaded some extremely cool stuff. I Would definitely Love to see more of the Lettuce King, etc. Thankyou Smart Trucking family for giving us a glimpse of this amazing truck and kuddos to the Lettuce King on the work he did on his amazing rig! Thankyou for sharing! Hope you can locate a 6-4 for it. Love
Man oh man what a ride his build was perfect . Back in the Earley 70's I broke in on a 65 Pete with a 1693 5&4 the old guy told me if caught me grinding gears he would beat my ass , I can't say I didn't grind a gear or two but he never caught me lol and the lettuce king does a fine job on them box's and that 65 Pete that was the last big truck I drove thank you for your page it give me hope that there still some real drivers out there happy trails my friend
Love the sound of a 3406 Cat. I had a 3406 B Cat in a C/O back in the day. Unfortunately, mine was turtle since only specd at 320 HP. So you could walk faster up a steep mountain.
Appreciate all your work and shared wisdom folks. But this one here, the "Lettuce King", this is special. I understand not to everyone, but to us Originals that cut our teeth on the 2 stick, rebuilt, modified and built our own large kars it is special. Thanks again.
This was great guys. I used to work for a trucking company out of California in late 70s- 90s called Viking Freight Systems. Our logo was a Viking with his boot though the radiator on an old Ford cabover. Cool doesn't even begin to say the word about the Pete. Beautiful truck. Yes we would love to hear more from him. Thanks again.
EXCELLENT video, Dave. I was a mechanics helper . . .genius,also.Could take apart Murphy DIESEL from a NORTHWEST 95, parts all over the floor, no problem for Sam. He is a bit of a mechanical genius!
@@SmartTrucking nothing better than watching those guys that know their shit. My uncle was the same way, give him a pile of parts he’d make a motor.
I'm 43 and I was immediately yelling mercury sleeper. Amazing 351. I grew up driving 359's. Now I'm in a new 95 w900 b with a 60 inch aerodyne.
Nice! Both the Lettuce King and I wish we were still 43 so our memories wouldn't be foggy and half shot! It's tough getting old!
Beautiful rig. The Lettuce King has monster fabrication skills.
Yes he does!
Yes talking more about the guys very cool 😎
Absolutely hands down we All want more of these build videos from all your friends rigs!

Man, I just want to hang out with Lettuce King just for an afternoon. Like at a backyard bbq…
He should show this truck at the truck shows. Beautiful rig.
He might do that this year coming if the shows aren't "virtual".
I just realized what my life needs. A Smart Trucking / Lettuce King / DeBoss Garage crossover episode.
Didn't know DeBoss. Had to go check them out!
The "Lettuce King" is like the "Picasso" of the long hood's . Seen a few other builds he's done - man's got some REALLY amazing talent ..... Bravo..,.
