I'm glad you gave it a second chance! I'm often delighted by how different each game is. It very stealthily lures you in😆 I think part of our problem the 1st time was just the *shock* of how different it was from the other games we were playing. I was really not prepared for that! 🤣 There's a lot of variety in the board game hobby! Thanks for watching!
We actually played Terraforming Mars over the weekend with some of the stuff from the campaign. Like you I got Prelude 2, promo cards, and the additional rewards and milestones. I have a little regret about not getting the extra maps, but we do have the base game map + Hellas and Elysium. My friends first introduced us to Terraforming Mars and at the time it felt like a lot and it took me a while to get it. But with more plays and someone teaching me, it really helped. They tried introducing us to the expansions, but we didn't really like them. And we just recently tried Turmoil which we also didn't really care for. I'm like you where I just want more maps, goals, cards and I am good to go.
I feel like Terraforming Mars has probably expanded as much as it reasonably can: with the maps in the campaign I now have 7 unique boards, plus a bunch of promo cards, and the double-handful of mix-n-match milestones & awards. With, or without, Preludes 1 or 2, variably has been maxed out. You (even without the extra Kickstarter maps) and I both have basically a custom Terraforming Mars game! There's so many options my brain may seize if/when I actually table this monster I've created🤣🤯 It's nice to hear that someone else just wants *these good things* for the game. It's enough. Especially for a game with this much!🤣 Thanks for watching---it's always good to hear your take on whatever board game rabbit-hole I've fallen down!🐇🤣
@@teaNgames I love your videos! It is just such a boost to my day when I see that you have uploaded. And I hope you get to play a physical game of Terraforming Mars! If I ever find myself in Texas, I'll be up for a game. :-)
Similarly I have only ever played the Steam version of Terraforming Mars and I love it! However, as soon as I think about what the physical set up would look like or how the effect- and point-tracking would work, I get anxiety and lose my desire to try the physical version 😅
Great video Susan! And thank you so much for the shoutout 💜 We both cracked up at the pause after saying you played Terraforming Mars 3 - 4 times a day 😅 Nothing wrong with that at all! Ohh if you liked the hidden movement aspect of Liberation, you might enjoy RUN; Its a game by Fowers Games, that comes in a neat small box, 2 player hidden movement / hide-and-seek. It's got a nice player progression to for the more you play (Introducing new tools to use or difficulty) Love to see Cartographers Heroes! We've become big fans of that one as I'm sure you know. We're similar in celebrating each others wins while playing games - I love how the scoring can ramp up in the game or take us by surprise. For your question at the end, we certainly have games like that. Bandido is one, small as it is, it can spread out like crazy - so we've found it more convenient to be playing on BGA for now. There are many bigger games we'd like to get (that have plenty of extra stuff like expansions) but we have only held off for now because we're thinking to move countries - though we might get the Steam versions before then to learn and enjoy them. Everdell, Scythe, Root, to name a few. The nature theme for us, is perhaps like space for you 😊
We do enjoy nature-themed games🐿 We don't usually go for hidden movement games, but perhaps we should--we liked both Revolver Noir & Liberation (though, as the Liberation I wasn't able to move as much as I wanted to!😆) I can understand you not wanting more boxes if you're thinking about moving😁 but if you change countries, check around & see if the games you want are available where you're going! You should be OK with classics, but sometimes games are much easier or harder to find depending on the country🤷♀️ So look around a bit before deciding whether to get a game now or later! Really enjoy your videos! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@teaNgames We highly recommend RUN then, it's got plenty of movement and is plenty of fun because of it (One player plays the criminal, the other the police) - all on a neat variety of small maps :) Aha yes - don't get us wrong we do have more games on the way already - though they're typically smaller boxes. (We found a loophole where we could get many smaller games for the price of some of these big ones 😂 - Joana's idea); but once we've filled our two kallaxes we draw the hard line :) We figured if it fits the Kallax, it can come with, and we'll just try to put the entire unit, games included, into a van ( priorities 🙃). We'll see how that pans out. Good idea regarding seeing what games are available! however as we will be staying within the EU we've had easy access to most things among the various countries. It's getting stuff from North America that's tricky, and annoying, because sometimes there are much better prices over there.
@BoardGameBeans Global availability -- and affordability -- are problems no matter where you live. The US is great for games that have a North American publisher or distributor, but sometimes games originally published elsewhere take a long time to get a distribution/publishing deal here & sometimes they don't, unless they're very big. Smaller games are really expensive to import because shipping costs more than the game! Which is true no matter which way the games are going across the ocean😁 I want a "games travel free" rule!😆
@@teaNgames Yeah that's true - I suppose it's more by chance that many of the games we'd like, have the appearance of having a better price there, especially when someone is selling it used aha. Not all, but it feels a lot; as you mentioned much of the board game folks on RUclips are North American, and as we gravitate towards games in English we're always seeing some amazing prices or lucky finds at 2nd hand shops folks share. Our best source to get them is from the UK (Zatu), but then we still get hit with the shipping, VAT, and customs fees for when it enters Portugal 😭 We 10/10 support a games travel free rule! There are so many wonderful looking tiny games from Asia for example, but good luck getting that for a decent price 🤣
May I suggest Game Court, Board Game Hangover, and Board Game Bollocks for EU channels. I love them all. TM has been on my SoS for a long time now, primarily because I've been waiting for the KickStarter to deliver (I'm still waiting on mine). Like you with the promo packs, I'm a sucker for neoprene mats and 3D tiles. Are you concerned at all that because of your many, many plays of TM digitally, that once you get the physical version to the table to play with someone, your knowledge of the cards and strategies might always lead to lopsided wins?
No, not really, because I play so much solo & strategically the solo game is soooo different from a game against competitors. I ignore most of the cards because a lot of them just won't help you win a solo game! And when I do play competitively I play against 1 or 2 AIs at varying levels of difficulty & you can always count on an AI to do things no human would do🙄 So, I think I wouldn't have much of an edge against someone learning the game...my gameplay has bad habits learned from solo and against AI😆 I think that, despite having played many digital games, I'd be at a disadvantage against an *experienced* human opponent! Thanks for the channel suggestions; I'll check 'em out! Hope your Kickstarter delivers soon!!🤞
That tea sounds delicious. My first play of Terraforming Mars was rough and I knew I didn't like it. I changed my mind on my second play. lol

"Playing it wrong we liked it more than playing it right" 😂😂 well, cannot wait to watch your next video: "top 10 games we prefer to play wrong!" 😅😅🙏🙏
It would be hard to make a list with *only* 10 games we played wrong🤣😉
