Season 4 was first season they aired here in Finland. I still remember Scott Savol. I was huge Carrie fan, and for some reason Scott just went trough week after week. I was really mad because I actually thought he can win. But thank goodnes he didn't.
I disagree with Nikki McKibbin, most of the Season 1 contestants were terrible so any of them could've got to Top 4. I thought she would've been great as 4th place and definitely did not deserve to outlast Tamyra, however on top 4 night she had 2 suprisingly above average performances while Tamyra absolutely bombed one of her songs, and Justin (another good pick for 4th) gave his best performance of the season with "Get Here".

I actually disagree! Scott's elimination was REALLY shocking. He was so terrible and yet somehow put through every damn week! And when he went home it was such a "Oh my god fucking finally??? i cant believe it" moment
I felt Jason's was more obvious than Syesha's. she had a pretty good chance of being in the finale. even if I didn't like her, the top 3 was pretty evenly matched popular wise. same thing with Kimberley Locke.

Megan Danielle has certainly disproven that this year now that she's in the finale. Heck, one of her competitors has a coronation single called "I Still Talk To Jesus."
Nikki (Season 1), Jasmine (Season 3), Scott (Season 4), Sanjaya (Season 6) and Lazaro (Season 12) should have easily ranked in the Top 5 least shocking Idol eliminations ever. They stood no chance at all to win and should've been eliminated in the early finals stages. Jasmine's strong fanbase from Hawaii catapulted her as far as almost making the finale despite her performances markedly deteriorating since after the week where Jennifer Hudson was sent home. While the Vote For The Worst clamor helped Scott reach Top 5, I think it was the same clamor that enabled Sanjaya's prolonged stay on the show that proved to be the more critical catalyst for Idol's eventual demise. With Kim (Season 2), Vonzell (Season 4) and Haley (Season 10), I think it was more of a confusion (because by Top 3 week, they did had at least one performance stronger than both of the eventual Final 2 contestants) rather than both shock and no shock at all. They had strong performances throughout their seasons even if their histories of placing in the bottom groups would suggest they should've been eliminated earlier. They were, I think, underdogs during those seasons and could have made or broken the eventual finale match-ups in those years if not for lately catching up on the votes, although Kim was the closest to have made the finale because their Top 3 competition that season was stiff. With Syesha (Season 7), although it's not shocking to me when she did not make the finale, she was not a weak contender that season (and was in fact, the best female singer that season), unlike the others ranked highly in this video. I think there was a time during the middle finals stages where she actually stood a chance to break what was widely predicted that year (and would be eventually) of a David-David finale.

Honestly Constantine's last performance wasn't that great because the song wasn't able to showcase his vocals. Anthony and Scott stayed around though way too long (Scott somehow avoided the Bottom 3 that same week which was really surprising to me even though his performance was pitchy and flat all over the place.) Anthony was just too inconsistent in this competition even though he out-sang Carrie on the same song during his elimination week. Vonzell tended to lack emotion on most of her songs but overall she was still a great performer. I think she deserved to be in the Top 3.
Hate over her when ppl would vote who they want to stay. I think jasmine had star power while Latoya maybe be power vocal but not unique. As jasmine maybe not power vocal but have a unique voice and something different not similar to latoya's voice which is all the same to other singers & bland/boring.
Rest in peace Nikki. She had a great personality and wasn't really that bad. She went through Hell in a hay wagon after the show.

I just rewatched season three, so I hate Jasmine Trias even more than I did when I was younger!
