    I was expecting something a little bit closer to the "Here's Negan" comic, but this was surprisingly good nonetheless. They could easily make another full episode focused on Negan's rise to power in the Saviors. They could bring back many of the old characters (Dwight, Simon, Sherry, etc.). Fingers crossed.

    • @collegebro85
      @collegebro85 3 года назад +3

      🤦🏼‍♂️ for the last time, the comic and the show are entirely separate at this point. Yes, there will be some similarities, but a shot-for-shot remake would not only be a bore to watch knowing what is about to happen next but also would have made this show VERY unlikely to have lasted more than 3-4 seasons...

    • @jd1800
      @jd1800 3 года назад +6

      @@collegebro85 I never said I expected a shot for shot remake, nor would I want one. "A little bit closer to" is not the same as "exactly identical to". I'm not even complaining anyway, because I really liked this episode. All I'm saying is that there was not as much focus on the Saviors as I thought there would be, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The way they did this episode provides more depth to Negan and Lucille's relationship and still leaves room for more backstory down the line.

And you find out, he had cheated on his wife while she was being diagnosed with cancer. Kinda put that in perspective with him after that I guess. • @abarton1978
    @abarton1978 3 года назад +21

    There's also a kind of poetic symmetry in the way they depict Negan's experience, especially in this episode. His whole inner being has really been about the memory of his wife. The close of his life with his wife is in her cremation on the bed, and for me, burning the bat in the fireplace (a kind of cremation) might be his way of finally moving into present day without her.

    Negan is literally one of the only reasons I still watch this show. I would love if they just gave him his own series. Sure he's not perfect and has made some mistakes. Killing Glenn and Abraham made me mad at the time and it sucks that they are dead but Neegan only killed 2 of theirs versus the dozens Rick and them killed so that makes him way less evil than the Governor even, although he is certainly more intimidating than him. Like it or not the guy gets what he wants. Im afraid now that they gave him a back story they will kill him off soon in typical TWD fashion. Oof. This is getting good! Excited for season 11!

    This episode, out of the 6, really packed a punch. I swear TWD promoted this more than all the other episodes. What I really enjoyed was watching the version of Negan before he lost Lucille. A man who was, for the most part, pretty intact with his humanity. The episode didn't go beyond that, but clearly he believed shutting his emotions away was the only way he was going to make it. A series following more with Negan's past would be pretty refreshing since he's not like the other characters who for the most part try and hold onto their humanity as they fight and survive. Still, if this fully followed from his p.o.v, I couldn't get behind him subjugating communities and ruling with fear. I get he believed it was the ideal way to make it, but in the end it led to his downfall. Luckily he was spared and got a chance to work toward becoming better. But still, a villain p.o.v as a series could be interesting.
    And yes Steven on the apology. I've liked the idea of Negan apologizing for it, and I've never heard anyone talk about it. His actions are showing he's not the same anymore, but have we heard him say he regretted the things he's done to these people. no. Do we still need that after all this time, or is it too late?

      Nobody is saying she's in the wrong, but things are different now. The whole 'Negan killed Glenn' thing is tired. She had her chance to kill him and I even sided with her being mad at Rick for taking it away from her, but she didn't and now too much time has passed. Negan has now earned his spot in Alexandria, which would not even BE THERE without him. Alpha would have killed everyone before Maggie had even gotten there had Negan not gotten close and intercepted. So now Maggie can either 1. Finish what she started or 2. Stfu and get over it. REMEMBER: Glenn was killed because of 1. Daryl and 2. Really bad decisions. They were all complicit and drew first blood with Negan first. Just saying.

      @@cfinley81 nobody? All I see is people saying “get over it”. As a tv show, i get how viewers are tired of Maggie being mad and all but I mean look at the ending, it looks like she’s the bad guy when she just can’t forgive something he’s done that traumatized her. Neagn did became a better man and I like him for that but I just don’t like how Maggie can’t forgive Negan is giving Maggie and also the actress, a lot of hate. And I think he would’ve eventually attacked Rick’s people too. The saviours were so close to the Alexandrea when Carol left. And Negan killed a lot of people in a brutal way possible so that he didn’t have to work to survive so it make sense they attacked them first to keep their community safe from them.

There is never going to be anything that will make her get over it, she’s the one who still has to bear the pain every single day, that trauma is not over and it’ll never be over.
      Glenn was killed because of Negan. It’s as simple as that. Stop blaming Daryl or anything else. Negan started things, Negan is the one who swung the bat. You don’t blame the hostages for the actions of hostage takers. You don’t blame the victims.

    This might be an unpopular opinion but while what Negan did was brutal, it was totally unavoidable. Rick pushed to attack the outpost . Not only that but they were asleep. Roughly 40 people killed w no provocation. Then he sends others for retaliation so in total maybe 50 or 60 people were killed. Negan was proving a point. You cannot do crap like that and get away w it. Abraham dying is on Rick’s hands and Glenn dying is on Daryl’s hands. Though it was near shot for shot identical in the comic so that was well done. I kinda laughed when I saw the eye…. I.. they could have left that out or used shadowing lol. But in that situation let’s remember. Completely unavoidable. And Negan is anti hurting kids or rape. Suppose I see the twd world in shades of gray because Rick has done plenty in which he should be ashamed but is seen as the hero…just really prefer that there are no hero’s. There are those who protect and do the right thing and those who don’t. Sorry if that was long lol

Also, to see, even a little bit, characters at the very start of the zombie apocalypse and then seeing things go to hell in a handbasket!! And Lucille was so brave,, tying herself to the bed and killing herself. Oh, and the note she left for him. This episode was really great, even though Negan was doing the Humpty-Hump with Lucille's best friend, he completely did an 180 degree turn when he found out that Lucille had cancer and became the most devoted, kind and caring husband he could be!! And I'm glad that he killed those bikers; they deserved it!!
