Later, as the wear course is being laid, reheat the binder course with a truck towing an array of propane burners inside an insulated housing. This runs immediately ahead of the paver. The capital cost would be low, but the fuel cost might be problematic.
If the binder course fails compaction or density requirements do you mill up the entire thing to replace binder lift or just fine the contractor for failure to produce density?

You are still driving 1 paver! The only "additional" job is to handle material flow from the second (top hopper). --> A challange that can be handled by all high-end paver drivers. [We also have according technical trainings...!] The paving speed (of course based on the paving width and thicknesses) is on average 4-4.5 m/min. Not too fast anyhow... /Roland

These are outdated technologies. Better ones are used in Bulgaria - several gypsies put asphalt using shovels and then one or more of them walk and jump on the newly laid pavement to compact it.

And of course, there is all of the corruption.
