The mutual respect shown at the very end between the two is simply flooring.

    Kindness as a mantra.
Holding a marriage together if you have the basics.
Seeing life, here and now, as a miracle.
    Simple and stunning.

A wonderful, fascinating woman and a great Canadian. I just finished reading her book "twelve weeks in spring" a powerful testimony to her friend Margaret Fraser and the team of men/women whom she inspired.

.. yes, I agree. Up to her death she maintained that we only have 1 life here on earth and that's it. Interestlingly, one interviewer asked her about life after death (5 years before June's passing) and June basically laughed at the question, as if the interviewer asked if she believed in Santa Claus. LOL.

June Callwood was an interesting character, a bit over-rated.
Years ago during an interview, she said she always loved lawyers and always wanted to be one. Also, she was a lay bencher many years ago at the Law Society of Upper Canada. My opinion, I always thought she was a shill for the system as a lay bencher.
Overall, I liked June somewhat. She was good and decent for the most part. But I would not consider her to be an icon or a hero though.
