A wonderful, fascinating woman and a great Canadian. I just finished reading her book "twelve weeks in spring" a powerful testimony to her friend Margaret Fraser and the team of men/women whom she inspired.
@garycalgary .. yes, I agree. Up to her death she maintained that we only have 1 life here on earth and that's it. Interestlingly, one interviewer asked her about life after death (5 years before June's passing) and June basically laughed at the question, as if the interviewer asked if she believed in Santa Claus. LOL.
June Callwood was an interesting character, a bit over-rated. Years ago during an interview, she said she always loved lawyers and always wanted to be one. Also, she was a lay bencher many years ago at the Law Society of Upper Canada. My opinion, I always thought she was a shill for the system as a lay bencher. Overall, I liked June somewhat. She was good and decent for the most part. But I would not consider her to be an icon or a hero though.
This is still so beautiful to watch 13 years later! :):):)
such a moving and thoughtful interview. Thumbs up for George and the CBC.
One of the best and most moving interview I ever saw and what a great woman. Thanks June and George.
She's a really great woman!
And George IS really good at his job!
Thank you for posting this! I'm very glad to have watched it.
The mutual respect shown at the very end between the two is simply flooring.
i watched this on tv, i couldn't turn away.
same thing happened here.
Kindness as a mantra.
Holding a marriage together if you have the basics.
Seeing life, here and now, as a miracle.
Simple and stunning.
Two of the most beautiful souls in one room together here
"I believe in kindness" ~ June R. Callwood. 🥰
That was amazing. Thanks George.
I just love this interview! What an amazing person she was
When she speaks .you listen...and become enlightened
never get tired viewing this interview.
Bless her Loving kind heart. This year marks the Centenary of the birth of June Rose Callwood, CC OOnt (June 2, 1924 - April 14, 2007) 💓
Saw a bit of this on GS tonight, Sept 20th, Inspirational, my kind of woman!
