- In this video I take you through the complete restoration of our rusted out dump trailer. It was a big project but we'll worth the effort in the end. Hope you enjoy. #dumptrailerrestoration #firewood #Uppermichigan #Inthewoodyard
.Fine job overhaulin trailer. liked the video.
Thanks Dan. Appreciate ya watching.
Great video! Looks great and I’m sure it will serve you well for many years. It also looked like a PITA that you’ll never want to do again! 😁😉
Thanks. Yeah definitely a one time deal.
Good to go 👍👍
Yes sir.
Got her shining like a new dime Mike, real nice job, would make the original owner proud, of course he’s beaming like a new dad over his “Baby Dumper”! Take care🇺🇸
Thanks Mike. Yep he's got a nice new toy there. But we all know Chris has all the cool stuff!🤣
Nice job!
Thank ya sir.
Great job. You are pretty darn handy my friend. Have fun up dere in da up eh!!!
Thanks Turk. Always fun in Da UP
Wow it turned out beautiful excellent job you guy's ❤😎👍
Your trailer turned out great. Now I've got to do basically the same thing you did on mine. Mine also is only 6 years old and the floor is completely rusted out. Seeing yours has got me motivated to finish mine up.
I think the floor was the only thing on ours that wasn't completely rusted out. Good luck on yours. It was a lot of work but I enjoyed doing it.
👋🏻
Hey Eddy!!🖐🖐
Nice job 👍
Thank you. I appreciate that.
1st to comment from Western North Carolina. 1st to 👍 thumbs up. I'm new to woodhound life. Im age 64 with a bad back. No truck. No trailer. No tractor. No splitter. Just 3 Stihl chainsaws and a old van. Wish mme luck.
Good luck Steve. Don't over do it and most of all enjoy yourself.
Road salt. I do not take mine on the road when salt is on it. Just rebuilt and 1982 snow mobile trailer so I can haul my 4 wheeler. That does not go on salted roads. Great job Mike. Many years on your brand new dump trailer.
They sure do love the road salt in the Midwest. Our trailer will not see much action in the winter.
I’m in upstate central New York and they love road salt here also. I’ve been looking for a used dump trailer for some time but everything I looked at was a rust bucket. Most of them from firewood producers. I understand why the owners use the trailers in the winter when the roads are heavily salted, that’s also when customers want their wood delivered.
Yep the road salt just eats them up. We do most of our deliveries in the fall not much in winter. It should last us a long time.
Nice job, sure looks good
Thanks Oldtimer.
Looks good. I had to build a complete new dump body for mine a few years ago.
The road salt sure does like the thin poorly coated metal.
Been waiting for this project👏🏻 Nice work fellas! You just preserved a piece of the firewood community! Rusty is looking good now Mike👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Todd. Old Rusty but Trusty will be around for a long time now.
I've been waiting for this video ,and FINALLY its arrived!!!!! Well worth the wait. What a great job ya'll did on this trailer. She'll be @ now for many hardworking years to come!! Thanks for sharing Mike!!!
Thanks Chris. It turned out pretty darn good! For a couple of Yoopers working on it!! 🤣🤣
Your videos always seem to put a smile on my face. Love your humor! Hard to believe that trailer rusted that badly in 6-7 years!! You are an excellent fabricator Mike really impressive!! More body shops should invest in Kubota's and logging equipment! Thanks for the vid, enjoyed!!
Thanks Mark. I really appreciate that. Yep the tractor and the "Mule " sure came in handy on this project.
Now you can bring me a load of firewood lol
The delivery charges may be a bit steep on that order!!🤣🤣
Drop it when ur in Lansing lol
Trusty Rusty 2.0 Great Job Mike. This old dump trailer is an old friend to many of us.
Thanks Dave. I know Trusty Rusty was a big part of In the Woodyard. Glad I could bring it back to life.
Looks great Mike. A lot of work and I’m sure you’re glad it’s done. But now you can just use it. 👍🏻
Thanks Dean. Yep we'll get a lot of use out of it for years to come.
Great job Mike!! Trailer looks Fantastic!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks David
Hi Mike!!😀😀
Wow that thing was a lot worse than I thought it was.
Nice job bringing it back to life. Looks really nice.
Take care my friend!!😀😀💚💚
Logger Al
Yes it was. Once we knocked all the rust off it it was a big mess! Thanks Al
Great job! Looks great!! Gotta love living in the salt belt😂👍👍
Thanks Jeremiah
Well Mike they one man’s junk is another man’s treasure excellent work on the trailer and video 😮😊❤
Thanks Todd. I really enjoy bringing this back to life opposed to throwing it away to buy new.
Glad to see you brought Rusty back to life. The yellow looks great , not a color you see all the time
Thanks. I suppose we'll see 10 yellow ones now that we painted ours yellow!
@Lifeinthe906 That's how it always goes. No matter what you buy, then you see a ton of them.
Looks great, Chris will be impressed!
Thanks Jeff. He got a sneak peak at it before the video.
Heck ya Mike! Looking good. I’ll be dropping my trailer off here in a couple years and let you get started!😄Take care!👍🏻
Thanks Rod. Just remember I work for cash only!!! 🤣🤣
That's looking great. The color will stand out, too. Here in Seattle, i have seen red and blue ones running around.
Thanks Daniel. Let me know if ya see a yellow one.
Lots of work, Excellent job rebuilding the trailer Mike.
Thanks Craig
FANtastic job Mike 👍👏🇺🇸 Rick
Thanks Rick
She lives. Good for another life. Wonder how the spray on bed liner stuff would work on the floor?
Thought about the bedliner stuff not sure if the wood would slide on it.
Well done!
Thanks Stan
Good job Mike
Thanks Kenny!!
Always a lot more work then it looks like but very rewarding when done great job
A massive undertaking. But I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Thanks Glen
Looks good Mike. You should be able to use it as hard as the original owner. Haul
lots of firewood and harvest lots of Benjamin’s.
That's the plan!!
Great job bud!! Turned out awesome.
Thanks Dan.
Chris used that like a rented mule. 😂Nice work hope it last for many years
He sure did. Hopefully it will be around here for a long time.
😮 hope you tagged Chris to let him see it finished, turned out pretty nice, always wondered what happened to rusty
Thanks John. Old Rusty has got a new home in the 906.
I maybe would put some undercoating spray on it quick
Good idea
Very nice work my good man...she looks very pretty!
Thanks Chris. We had to do old Rusty Trusty up right!!
Nice work ! Ever try fluid film rust preventing oil ?
I have heard of it but never tried it. Is it any good?
I’m thinking that “bushing” started life as a mower deck idler wheel support?
Close. Auger housing off an Ariens snowblower
Hey MIKE , y’all did a very nice job on the trailer restore . It looks like brand new !!! 👍🏻🪵
Thanks Del. Lots of work but we'll worth it.
Awesome time span on the video, it's rare, A video like this is usually cut up into multiple parts with the "join us next week as we blah blah blah". Nice work Mike. BTW, never trust anyone from Appleton... :)
I'm kinda partial to the one and done videos myself. Ya do gotta keep and eye on them Appleton folks!! 🤣
@@Lifeinthe906 Andrew Camarata does the same... at times spanning years... however, it's uncommon. Appreciate ya sitting on all that content until the time was right.
Love the old mule is that a 4501? Great looking trailer
Thanks Jason. I think it's a 5001 does that sound right?
@@Lifeinthe906 that could be,Diesel motor? At any rate they are awesome machines.
@LoggerJason Yep diesel engine. Yes sir great machine. It has served us well.
I'm not a fan of the so-called powder coat on things now days. It traps moisture and rusts and flakes badly. The pin material looked like a mower front wheel post.
I agree the coatings they use these days are not very good. My bushing material was from the auger shaft on an Ariens snowblower.
Like it never even happened.....love it...rusty but trusty.i see that awesome hat on your head!!!🤎🤎🤎
Well ya gotta have the Tree Fella hat on when you're working!! I got two of them awesome hats. One for work and one for going out on the town!!😁😁
@@Lifeinthe906 that's so awesome 👍👊💚🌳
@@Lifeinthe906I have two Mo Pitney hats...one I wear ALL the time. The other is pretty much my marrying and burying hat. Mo Pitney is a 30 year old Country Music singer/songwriter btw. Love your videos. Being from Superior, Wi I know first hand about rust. Several of my vehicles went to the junkyard ONLY because a frame broke.
@momusicfan Yep the rust gets them all eventually.
Nice job!
Thanks John.
