Funny thing is that if you look at the most recent SM64 Any% TAS run, they actually DO find a way to accomplish this trick without the wing cap, making the run absurdly fast.

Video aside...as a child of the 90's who has played every game known to man from space invaders to Dark Souls let me just say that back when I heard about glitches like this there was no youtube...kids in my neighborhood who were just trading pokemon cards would tell me of tricks like this but no one believed them because it sounded so outlandish. Nowadays glitches are so commonplace and overly abundant that I stand in awe at the many hours if not YEARS that these kids threw into a game to find the intricate glitches that we now take for granted.
I figured out the BLJ organically in the late 90s by myself because the staircase was just too tempting to break and such a cool concept. This either makes me a speedrunning genius or shows that everyone knew it and it just wasn't documented extensively because the internet was less aggregated and speedrunning wasn't really a thing. (The latter)
It is the latter indeed! Nowadays, we know that the BLJ, as many other tricks, were discovered by many individuals from many different places over the years with no contact between each other. The oldest discovery I can think of resurfaced thanks to Midori64. They found out that the BLJ appeared in a Japanese strategy guide book on the 24th of December 1996. It's cool to hear that you found it by yourself too!
This is so much better than the last speedrunning tricks* explanation. I like how you guys explain what is happening before reacting. I had that complaint in the last one but not this one for sure.
I think the NRG boys should have a Super Metroid tournament. Give them like a week or two to learn all the tricks. Then have them race. It's such a great Speedrun game with so many tricks. I assume the boys arent very versed in the game (besides probably beating it normal) and should race a any% and a 100% That would make some great comment. And everyone loves SM runs. Something like this I think could be really cool. My comments never get read but if you read this and agree, or have ideas to help it, let's get it out there!
Loving the videos guys! It’s awesome to watch you talk about games that have a lot of history and you have experience in. I would love to see you guys do some more of these types of videos or a collab with speed run documentarians like Bismuth, Lowest Percent, or more!
Btw Club Nintendo was an official Nintendo Magazine, it was made for Latin America in general. I used to love these back in the day! But that was another era, i doubt Nintendo will let glichhunters post in their magazine lmao
The Nintendo magazine for Latin America (Revista Club Nintendo) was very renowned for its excellent content until its disappearance because of the closing of its publisher. Early it even had personalized fronts for other countries and local contents before unifying in the mexican version. Sadly one of its mexican founders passed away last year.
I recently went to a gamestore where they had 3D all stars since nobody bought it.(PlayStation is WAY more popular where I live). I thought it was the funniest thing ever. Gamestore:It's over Nintendo I have the high ground(Lack of popularity) Nintendo: You underestimate my power. Gamestore: Don't try it.
I gotte respect the "Parallel Universes" guy since he clearly figured out all that stuff on his own because he didn't know what was actually happening there and didn't know the proper terminology, but it still annoys me. What is probably happening with "PU"s is an integer overflow. I would guess the collision system uses short integer (-32768 to 32767 range) values. When Mario is checked to see if he is colliding with anything, his position is converted to a short int. If he's too far outside that range, his position overflows and the game ends up thinking he's inside that range, thus why the collision with the level happens way out there. The actual drawing of the level doesn't suffer from this issue thus why you can't see the level... since you're out of bounds. I wouldn't call this a game bug, but an intended limitation. As long as the actual levels fit inside that range they would not experience any problems unless someone glitched out of the map (which they would do).
Don’t get why youtubers have the urge to say small amount of people are subscribed if it was the other way around y wouldn’t be getting new people watching just means RUclips is pushing for your channel
Because when they do mention it, some people actually do subscribe. As annoying as it is, that means it might boost sub numbers. And big number = good.
the younger brother liked the sound mario makes when long jump. So the older one tried to amplify that sound much as possible so his brother can laugh a moment
@@MarmolSamich470 that's how the blj was discovered on that Mexican magazine.
