Tom I love the way your Dad is always open to new ideas / machinery and always lets you voice your opinion
my dad never listens to my opinion, i guess its a good thing because now im really looking forward to the future to be able to do my own decisions
father is so knowledgeable , could listen to him for hours
"We're livin and learnin" wise words Ginger Warrior as always💞 love seeing you on the videos.
I admire the fact that I have not seen u angry yet. You seen to be a nice person to work with and that is fantastic. You don't lose ur cool, u dont disrespect, all goes to show the ginger brought u up right. I tilt my cap at you. I love that u respect the land, respect the animals, and love ur parents and what u do. Have some kids and learn them to do the same. What goes around , comes around.!!!!!!!!!
I love how beautiful the fields look after you finished with the spike roller. It's fun when your Dad talks...I understand about 25% of what he says. LOL
Peggy, as a New Englander, same! Although, the more videos I watch, the better I'm getting at understanding the Ginger Warrior! 🤦♀️😂
I love your Father and him explaining aerating and rolling. Just beautiful
Great video Tom! Your videos just keep getting better! Loving all the machines and implements :)
I could listen to the ginger warrior all day. Can’t imagine how proud he must be of you, Tom. Great vid!💕
Dear Tom, you make farm life interesting and i got so mutch more respect for farming now because of your video’s. It takes allot of knowledge to be a good farmer, i had no idea! I find it verry relaxing to watch the drone when its in the sky filming the land you work on with those machines. I realy appreciate your efford to show the world what farm life is realy about and how life on a farm realy is. I am jealous on you for all your skills and knowledge and you get to cuddle calfs all the time. Keep showing the world your farm life, and take some credit for yourself because you and dad deserve it!
Tip the add blue up and then stab a hole in end of container will fill up way quicker
Your dad knows what he’s saying he’s a smart man you should listen to him :)
25:18 Tom you should see our grass fields we have already cut one and waiting for the better weather to do the rest
An interesting piece of kit, looks like it's doing a reasonable job. Our pasture land does not have very deep roots, that may be your problem 👍
Hi Tom, your spike roller is lifting sods in your older pastures because you have a layer of compaction stopping the grass rooting deep, either from where the ground has laid wet or from poaching. It would benefit from a grassland subsoiler but timing is crucial for it to be effective. Cheers
Ginger guy with the "moostache" absolute hero
As an operator we got johndeeres this clip really touched my heart i sing in cab too when all alone but make sure the twoway button is not jammed on hehe or the rest of the farm gets a shocking squeeling surprise haha
Great vid tom could you do a vid showing the milk from cow to customer
Thanks for keeping us all entertained during these tuf times
Great videos Tom. I suspect the old pasture land has a pan at 3-4 inches and with old grasses and no root structures they just rip up.
Thank you Tom for showing how this spiked roller works. The grazing fields seem to tare up while your cropping fields were okay. It will be interesting to see if it has helped your fields or not! Keep the videos coming they are really good to see how you farm with your dad.
Think your issue is a combination of compaction and root depth the land you work will be more compacted and roots will dig deeper for nutrients plus is looked after better than the pasture land. Just My take on it anyway.
Might have been mentioned in the video / comments but would be interesting to see if half of each field got the spike roller treatment and the other half just got rolled. With flat, similar ground like Tom has it’d be interesting to see come silage time if there is a difference in quantity of grass harvested. Not a farmer but have a keen interest in agriculture and growing food
I have used this type before But the KEY is to get up to speed Hen drop You can do soft turns and you will find it better . Also put 1/2 water to make it hit harder. Hope it helps try it out . Tim From WildWood Farm. Canada.
Never a waste of time if you’ve learned something x
Wise words
Tom pemberton vs the spiky roller of horror
It was worth a shot. This is a good opportunity for both of you to see what works better. The kit did seem to work really well on those fields you said that werent pasture land but the pasture land did seem to rip the sod something fierce. Again as you said you won't know until the grass comes up
Very satisfying watching you progress across the field 🚜🚜🚜🚜
Preston Boy loving the show. Used to work on the Farm in Goosnargh for Mr &Mrs Swarbrick and Mr Harold Proctor. loved this time of year, so busy getting the harvest in. Alwarys been a tractor fan ( boys and their toys lol). great show feeling very nostalgic.
Cannot wait to hear how this turns out. Please do a vid on whether you think this was a success! Love the farming vids; takes me back to my upbringing for sure.

'It'd be alright if it was in the ground it'd do better'
Your dad smashing work place banter with that 😀
Tom ( LEGEND ) T new design I believe ,the angle of the blades is now set at 30 degrees, the exit is smoother so as not making holes reducing risk of broken legs
The Ginger Warrior reminds me of Captain Kangaroo! Love him.
Tom you and your dad are legends mate! Great content! Can’t wait for your map on FS!!!
Matthew dowd I didn’t know there was one is it coming on console?
JimPlaysPS4 I believe so!! I’m on Xbox. We console players need some love too! Do you watch any of the Fs you tubers? I would suggest fsclub,DjGoHam,and Daggerwin for great fs content and up to date news and mod releases! Hope that helps! The Tom Pemberton map is in the very early stages just a few buildings being worked on now, but should be by the end of summer or sooner. The millenial farmer has a great map coming out very soon too!
We love the warrior we need a q and a before the season sets in
Tom, the sods pulling up, is due to lack of roots penetrating down into the depths. You need to rip your paddock, with a coulter in front of the ripper, to cut the turf. Ripping will allow the water and the grass roots to penetrate deeper.
Great video tom real farming, we are spike rolling on our farm for few years, its brilliant after a wet winter. Cracking work your dad is topman
For that aerator you need to wait until the ground is rock hard and have it full of water and go as fast as you can the point of it is to shock the ground and create a gap to let the oxygen down through the pan on top
I agree, the ground should be that wee bit firmer, would be interesting to see the results if this was done after first cut silage and just before slurry application. Too many people knocking this machine, soil aeration is vital for any crop but especially for farmers who don’t crop rotate, I”ll be surprised if this roller isn’t a success.
Good vid Tom I have used one of those spike rollers on our massy and they are beasts
Glad to hear that you took some time off to be with your lovely other half, a fellow needs to get away every once and awhile.
I watched the video till the end! I just a regular girl fascinated by what you do. I think that is real life hardworking man.
We work with the erigator on our farm you will defo see a massive difference with grass growth. Couple of points tho, full the roller, faster travel is more effective as the spikes are designed to crack the ground down as far as a foot. We use it after every cut of grass before slurry goes on. Much much better grass quality and quantity. Hope this helps with it bud. Great videos keep up the good work
Also I should add we do about 150 acres of our own and contract to local farms and anyone in a 10mile range of our farm gets us in to do this after each cut of grass. You should invest or atleast think about it bud
Hi tom you are by far my favourite RUclipsr I love it when a new video comes out loving the new machinery and keep it up also I love that case I have a few my self but they are from the 90s keep up the good work
We have one and love it go about 7-10 mph depending on conditions. We have now sold flat roller and browns slitter and it's all we have
Oh my gawsh you are darn funny! I laughed so much at Dancing Queen and taking the roller thru the mud. New subscriber from Canada. 😊🇨🇦
Looking forward to seeing the difference in that last field between the areas rolled and unrolled. Also: remember your father is always right.
Thank you, Tom. Great video. I’ll check out the results, should be available. Btw, I love the dancing queen!
Watch Hay Team TV about ruling grass, Tom. Though they don't spike.
Is it worth considering grass subsoiling some of the wetter fields once they are a lot drier in the summer? Only a thought.
BEST FARMING VIDEOS EVER FROM SOUTH AFRICA AND THANK YOU TOM GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AT LEAST YOU GUYS CAN FARM WITHOUT HAVING TO CARRY A RIFLE AND PISTOL IN YOUR TRACTOR FOR SECURITY THOUSANDS OF FARMERS HAVE BEEN MURDERED IN SOUTH AFRICA THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS ON THEIR FARMS
Worked for the town highway dept one of my jobs was to run a 7710 Ford tractor with a boom mower,to take down brush and small trees along the roads. Fun to pull up to a small tree lift boom as high as it would go and slowly drop and chip it to ground level . Love big strange/weird equipment.
🎶 dancing queen 🎶 🤣🤣🤣
Perfect life sound track for ya!
For the sod to rip the tensile strength of the sod is greater than the bond to the earth below. This could be the length direction of the root for the type of grass or you need a subsoiler as there is a pan.
Dancing queen 😂😂😂😂
love the inbetweeners reference at 6:39
When filling AD blue pop a hole in the bottom so the air gets our
William Gillespie actually you want a hole so the so the air can get in!
Get the proper 20L drums that come with a twin funnel that lets adblue out one side and air in the other side.
then burn the jugs when you are done
Your Dad look like he's right out of Harry Potter filming.
😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣😂😅😅
Your not going fast enough 12/15k reccomended slower you’re go the spikes act as a lever speed slices thro sod and speed stops it lifting xx
I would think that if it says to go at a certain speed, there is a reason behind the suggestion. Also, maybe it does need water in it for weight. In fact you probably answered your own question by saying that you were going to slow and that was why the sod was being lifted. Who knows? I just love watching you....and all the chores you do in the run of a day..
Actually that machine is best used during a very dry spell, saw one like it at grass and muck years ago, it's really heavy to break into the hard soil and you go fast to cause vibration from the roller so it doesn't just slot the ground but busts a crack in it beneath the surface.
Nice vid Tom that sliter roller looks like a decent job.keep learning from your mistakes and we can learn to 😂👍🏻
Seats always got to be high, I'm 6'4" and put the seat up 🤣
Jimmy 😂😂😂
Also been far too long since I've had a roll with a slit!
@@TomPembertonFarmLife skateboard??? Call yourself a farmer... utter embarassment...
why do u guys roll the grass? rolling compacts and that makes the first leayer of dirt to compact for air to get in and air only gets in where the spikes go... Isnt the best way only to spike it so it gets air and the roots can go deeper and pick up more fertelizer and grow thicker?
I would think it's because the rolling helps even out the ground getting rid of ridges from the wet field work that way when they mow & chop its safer on the equipment.
Lmao "goverment trying to stop me from droning " 🤣🤣🤣 actually giggling to myself
Tom, check those areas for insects damage in the root system. Sometimes you can get insects that eat the roots off and allow the pasture to pull up like you have in that one paddock.
I wonder if there is some way to add on a device to throw seed out at the same time
The way I heard it from a grass expert of some sort. When healthy grass clumps pull up like that it is because it has shallow roots. This is caused by the high amount of water on the fields from the rain. In the dryer areas of the fields the roots grow into the ground looking for water making it making those less likely to be pulled up.
Dude.i love you're vids keep up.the good work and thanks for all you.are doing thru these tough times respect buddy!
Great video now I need to find the result one so interesting I used to think you guys just let it grow grazed or cut how wrong I was it’s a science on it’s own keep the videos coming and Happy Farming
If I were to buy this, I'd get slightly bigger wheels. The tractor is leaving their own tracks a bit too heavily for my liking :(
Make the most of the front linkage, aerator on the front and the roller on the back. Good vid a tho lovin the tractor 👌🏻
"Found a bit of Wood!" "Tom's Soundtrack of Life" "Yep, I'm a Loser!"😂😂😂 love this channel!! Good job, TP! I never would've found this channel had it not been for the pandemic!😂 I'm a corporate lady with zero farm experience!! HAHA But I do adore cute animal videos and want to retire and have some goats, mini cows & horses!! #RetirementGoals 😂🤦♀️👍
A little advice on adblue never get your face close to the adblue when filling and also where some gloves. It is not a nice product to get off and if you get it on your hands it is very greasy so handling other items can result in a accident . It also turns like white crystalization when it dries out. Only speaking from experience.
Your dad sure loves to talk business! :)
Case tractor sounds sweet. Nice ride! Boy tat gate hole was tight
Hey tom personally i havent done much rolling or slitting but if i was to guess the reason for pulling up the sod would be because you are going too slow because the slitters are getting a small bit of grip while in the sod and and its just pulling it up
Great video Tom stay well and keep up the great video you are a huge inspiration
You might have to raise the Slit/Roller more on that field. If worked well on other field at that height but might try raising some if grass is thicker. Just a suggestion 😉
Thanks for another great video
These days they use rollers when I was in my teen yrs going upto farm with my father. They used to even ground out with chains on bk of tractor I remember them days to mate 🚜
Tom what’s the benefit of a silage clamp over silage bales? Is it capacity and time or do stock feed better?
Put the arator on the front of the case and the roller on the back 👌😂
I can’t for the life of me find this song, it’s been stuck in my head for ages.
Dancing Queen by Abba?
i love the case
Those AdBlue nozzles absolute nightmare
3:43 tom are you in my yard.... 😊👍
Faster you go the more and deeper shatter effect you get in the soil. Works better if ground drier and fill it with water. Weight means you still roll and drier means soil shatters better. It's a delicate balance.
Hellooo fom Colorado in the U.S.A. love the videos i grew up farming myself n hope to get back into it soon. But enjoy ur day off bud n well' see u in the next video.
Peace out! ✌
Would you like a Fendt or Massey Ferguson on demo from lister wilder my dad could demo it to you he is the Head demonstrator
I'll take 2, need a front loader on one at least. U would get a ton of advertisement an business from this. Once in a lifetime opportunity, make ur dad the biggest most known trusted tractor dealers in the industry.
William Gaisford Get him to give tom A Fendt on Demo to cart silage and have the case on the buckrake
Christopher Vickers stfu
@@jasper-jp1do calm down mate
the weeds love this machine..:D
With the tractor you’re using, could you have put your aerator on the front and your normal roller on the back?
Great work Tom. Love the high shots of the field
Thanks Tom, glad to see you replace your divots, your dad will be pleased! Fore!
Class video Tom , I always wait for half two 🕝 for the video to pop up in my subbox
Class video well done tom keep us all rolling on
great vid tom!!!! Hope your milk doesn't go to waste
Oh tractor friends hahahaha 😂😂
In ireland we will definatly be cutting early this year
great video that roller, airatter really did a job liked it a lot
Greetings from the west of Ireland, is that cornthwaites in pilling. If it is I remember visiting that place as child loads of times when I would be in knott end at my grandparents.
Have you had that a while looks like the roller / skitter in the ‘ live from the CASE ‘ video ?
