Great timing on this - I’ve just bought an early 2000s Ibanez RG550 and trying to decide on a pickup set. I had been considering the tone zone / air norton combo, or maybe the SD/PAF Pro set… Would you say these are in that ballpark? Superb value and I’d love to support a small UK manufacturer.
Hey man! I don't have experience with the dimarzios but the panama set isn't like a PAF. Tonerider have a bunch of PAF style pickups and to me these are much more open and clear with more output. Personally I prefer these tones to PAF sounds. Hope that helps? I've got a longer video on my channel about these for some more tones
@@jbrewermusic Really helpful thanks man. I think I’m going to get a set of these rather than go down the DiMarzio SD route. They sound great in both of your bids (proper sick playing by the way!) Do they handle heavy chug chug stuff without flubbing out?
@@irie4lifeyall thankyou! Yes I was paid to do this video, perhaps I should have included that in the video. It doesn't alter my opinion however as I really like these pickups and still have them in my main guitar!
@@jbrewermusic All good man and thanks for the transparency! I've been shopping around for similar pups, primarily the SD custom and Dimarzio SD. Been going back and forth and trying to find a "deal" but coming up short. Was excited to see this offering. Maybe I've been living under a rock but this is the first I've heard of the Tonerider brand. Even though there's not a lot yet out there on this model, based on your video and the price I was ready to buy one until I saw the $17 shipping charge when checking out. I'm poor, which is why I've not yet bought one of the aforementioned so guess I'll be waiting a bit longer 😥
@@irie4lifeyall yeah they're based in UK, I cover them in more depth in the other video I uploaded. I'll ask and see if there's anyway to help with the shipping situation
That's a SICK LICK!
Hey man thankyou!

Curious if you were paid or sent the pickup to review? BTW, great playing!
