As an introvert, I find horrifying in itself the idea of staying in an hostel and having to share privacy and countless small talks with strangers lol.
Same! I love the fact that I have a small hotel room all to myself! My own bathroom, bed, & tv! I can do anything I want at any time in my hotel room. I prefer that over a hostel. But, most hostels have a multiple room option where you can stay in a room with just other women or men, stay in a room with both women & men, or stay in a room all to yourself! So most of them have the option of you staying in a room all too yourself.
Eh, you really don't have to talk to anyone. And the degree of privacy varies quite a lot, in some places you at least have a curtain or something so you're not lying in plain view of the whole room
I've stayed at Hostels in Amsterdam and Sydney. The movie "Hostel" was playing in the back of my mind the whole time. I didn't have any problems. I got to meet lots of cool people from all over the world.
So true, some nights I wake up and wonder can I hold out until the morning, because I don’t know what I would do if I get up out of bed and see another eyeball staring at me through the cracks of the door.
As a woman, I could never imagine staying in one of these unless my roommate was a woman. The absolute horror I would have if I roomed with a strange man.
That doesn't mean you will have a safer experience. Some of the scariest encounters I have had in a hostel were with women. I had one gal who got so drunk she didn't want to sleep on her top bunk, she decided to sleep in mine and ended up peeing in my bunk.
I can understand women naturally feel more comfortable around other women especially when dealing with strangers, however that doesn't guarantee your safety/comfort at all lol anytime your dealing with strangers there's always that risk regardless of gender.
I wouldn't do it either. If I can;t afford to do the trip properly, and that includes staying in a proper hotel, I am not doing it. I worked with a guy who told me that he never went outside of the US until after he was 50. People kept trying to tell him, "just backpack, stay in a hostel." He told me he was glad he waited until he could afford to do it right. He has better memories of the places he visited.
I agree. I don't trust people for good reasons. My second reason is I'm a petite woman I wouldn't think those are safe for tiny women especially if they aren't separated by gender. The last story in my opinion the girl was being dumb for not worrying about sharing a room with guys. She was lucky the other two were decent fellows.
@@ZetaReticuli_ how could he know they were better memories if he never experienced the first of two in comparison? Not trying to be condescending here but just saying, waiting till you're "ready" to do things is just another way of procrastinating. If I waited till I wasn't poor and scared of traveling the continent in my tent while alone I'd have missed out on some of the most fun and exhilarating experiences I've ever had. And I'm sure glad I didnt wait till I was old cause there were a lot of attractive and promiscuous people I met on my travels, on top of wild parties and long adventures. Don't limit yourself the world isn't that scary just be smart. I know it's not always that easy but I'm just saying. Take care!
@@woadblue If you yourself are cool with the whole backpacking deal, then go for it. Not all of us consider that fun. But as for someone like me and my older friend who made the comment you are referring to; the simple fact is that the more money you have to spend, the better your options are. Less money = more limitations. If you consider it from the perspective of where you are = think of the closest major city to you that you have been to multiple times, and are very familiar with = good and bad. Imagine seeing it as a tourist for the first time if you spent it staying the better areas, vs. staying the lessor areas. Keep in mind a tourist that say spends a week there will not be able to experience and know that city as well as you do = their experience, and therefore opinion of it will be limited to where they stay, what they can do, and what their budget allows. Think of in terms of where you could afford to stay as a tourist with more disposable income to spend vs. less. And the things you can do there with with regards to the same factors. I live near San Francisco for instance. If a tourist went there on the cheap, and say stayed at a motel outside of town or on the outskirts because it was all they could afford, vs. staying at one of the nicer downtown hotels, each affords a different experience, one = the nicer downtown hotel that's near everything = affords the better experience of the city, and there better better memories of it. Me personally, I would rather postpone until I can afford to do it a certain way. Doing it on the cheap = backpacking and staying in a hostel, would NOT allow me that luxury, and therefore to me, would be a waste of time, energy and money.
I have been watching Mr nightmare for 4 years now. He has seriously motivated me to make my own horror film content and to try to make the scariest short films on RUclips. Your stories help me brainstorm my own ideas. Thank you so much Mr Nightmare for giving me a purpose in life.
Once when I was about 9 or 10 I was playing a game with my little brother, who was probably 6 or 7 at the time. For some reason we were hiding in a closet, because I wanted to tell him a scary story. I scared him really bad, until he begged me to stop. I told him that there was nothing to be afraid of, and that we weren't alone. Then he said "that's what I'm afraid of" that gave me chills down my spine. I will never forget those horrifying words.
Not a horror story but the most memorable moment is when I shared room with 2 Russians, one older man and the other was the same age as me. The older guy was a red army veteran, had been stationed in East Germany, and played the trumpet. He also knew German, which I can understand but not speak, so the younger guy translated what I said in English to Russian, while the older guy spoke German to me.
Here I was thinking that motels couldn't make me more uneasy. Thank you for not only proving me wrong, but for also using your amazing storytelling skills to do so!

Maybe in like California, but not really for the rest of the world. The police can't do anything because the guy didn't actually break any laws, he was just really creepy
I was in New York once for a concert and I booked accommodations pretty late (literally 2 days before my trip) so the only place still available within my price range was this crummy little hostel in the middle of nowhere. Tiny rooms that reeked of smoke, bugs in the shower, broken locks, the whole package. When I got there, the only other person in the room with me was this middle aged hispanic woman. She seemed friendly and we chatted for a bit so I went to sleep that night without any worries. Well, early next morning I was awakened to the sound of screaming and two cops removing this woman, clearly high off her face, from the room, along with this other man who I didn't recognize. Turns out she was a homeless drug addict who wasn't even staying in the hostel, and she was caught trying to sneak her boyfriend into the room so they could shoot up together. Maybe not the most sinister thing ever but I was young and travelling alone and it scared me so much I didn't get more than 5 hours of sleep the rest of that weekend.

Because I've been seeing a ton of negative comments about hostels, I wanted to put them in a more positive light. First of all, hostels are not too dangerous. It is very easy to find out which ones are good and which ones are bad. Just take basic precautions. Second, they're usually very cheap. In Europe, they are usually in the $20-30 range. They're usually cheaper in South America and Asia. It's great if you don't have a ton of money but still want to see the world. Third, they're great for socializing. I've met people from all around the world at hostels. From the Dominican Republic, to Australia, to the Czech Republic. You meet all kinds of unique people and it really adds to the experience. I have zero hostel regrets. I'm only 21 but have been able to see so many foreign cities as a result of hostels. All while spending only a moderate amount of money.
Mr. Nightmare delivers once again! And it couldn't be at a better time. Me personally I'm having a pretty shitty week but Mr. Nightmare's videos always (somehow) make me feel a little better. Thank you for doing what you're doing :)
As an American who has done no out of country traveling, the word hostel brings images from the movies! LOL if you haven't seen them, number two is my favorite and I highly suggest checking it out.
Reminds me of one back in 2012 me and a friend as he took me to a specialist hospital about 300 miles North, we needed to get some food, so we stopped at a service station was up North just outside of Newcastle, as we got there, the 2 girls and one in the back were sort of laughing and tryna flirt with us lol, thst was something else. As we sat down and ste we finished our food, we were talking and spoke on a few things and joked of some stuff, the whole people in their looked at us something like out of a horror movie. I took a leak in the bathroom, just as I finished a guy came in looked at me funny. I sat back down next they all started talking loud, wr got up and ran to the car next they all came out looking at us, was quite a scary situation lol
I have to agree. It reminds me of a cross between a college dorm & a homeless shelter.......neither place is an ideal lodging that is for sure! In all honesty, I am floored that anyone can willingly live in a college dorm! You're in a tiny room with at least 1 TOTAL STRANGER!!!! I don't know how anyone can deal with that. I went to college but I commuted from home. I stayed in a dorm room overnight once, for a school orientation; it was a tiny sh*thole with 4 beds in it. FOUR! I was so glad to drive home.

This reminded me of that one time I was staying in a hostel in Berlin. It was in January, 2019. My friend and I travelled there to go to a concert, we decided to get a hostel since we would be only staying for two nights. When we checked in, we found out we were sharing the room with four guys and one girl (she was there by herself). Another thing were the bathrooms in the hall, no doors, super creepy. We had a few weird encounters, but nothing like the girl had which were sharing the room with. On our second night there, she quickly returned to the room and locked the door, and since we were confused so we asked asked if everything’s alright. Turned out some guy had been eyeing her out since the time she arrived and was being very creepy, so she quickly ran back. He even knocked on our door, my friend told him off, he tried to get in, but luckily he then left. When we were leaving the next morning, the girl left with us. Even though we all doubted he would try something during the day, we still made sure to go with her to the metro station. I hope she is doing well. It’s not as scary as these stories, but thinking that something bad could’ve happened, idk.. (My English is bad, sorry)
@@dobreangel or you can just take proper precautions. Go to a high rated hostel, with lockers for your luggage, if you're a woman and don't want to sleep in the same room as a man, request a female only room. Basic shit.
@@fourtwenty1813 Exactly. I can definitely understand why some people would be uncomfortable with sharing a sleeping space with strangers, but hostels aren't inherently terrible or scary places to be. Just be smart about where you go. As much as some creepy or unsettling experiences happen, there are many more experiences that don't.
Just recently subbed to your channel last week and been absolutely addicted, been watching every video when possible, thanks for all the creative content 😎👍🖤
I have an alternative ending to the last story: A few years ago I was a manager at a clothing store in a mall. One of my cashiers was about to leave for the day and realized her phone was missing. It was on silent for work so she couldn’t call it. We used the store ipad to pull up find my iphone and it showed the phone was moving around the general area. I basically shut down the store- she was sobbing and running around asking everyone in and outside the store if they had her phone. After 15 minutes, she realizes there was a rip on the inside of her purse and her phone had slipped between the lining on the bag 🤦🏼♀️
@@sandiaa.g That's fine but in reality these three stories aren't that scary. The first one is just guy getting creeped out by a guy who looked at him, the second was just an attempted robbery, and the the third a guy just took a girl's phone for the day. Seriously, I have been robbed before, and although it's not a good feeling I wouldn't consider a scary story.

How are you doing now. I’m sorry that happened to you, anxiety is the worst. My best wishes are with you
@@stansmith2188 I’m doing fine now! It was the absolute worst. Especially when an attack happens randomly or when you’re trying to sleep/eat. But thank you for asking😊
i hope you're doing better now~
It’s like you’re conquering your fears😊 i used to feel the same years ago when my anxiety was so bad. I watched a lot of scary videos and it helped me become better. Hope you are better now.
Imagine hearing a knock on your door at 3am, I would just boot out the window
Either someone is getting shot or I'm burning the house down with the intruder in it. No one is scaring me out of my own house 🙃 🔥🔥🔥🕯🕯🕯🧨🧨🧨
The most disturbing parts about hostels are the bathrooms, in my honest opinion. And I have been to quite a few.
It's the showers for me. Wonder if they even clean it properly....
Those stories would probably be a whole different kind of "scary" 😂
Also one of the most disturbing parts of traveling in big metro areas like NYC or Boston in my experience. Especially at train stations lol
Seems like the hostels would be full of dopefiends
Mr. Nightmare delivers once again! And it couldn't be at a better time. Me personally I'm having a pretty shitty week but Mr. Nightmare's videos always (somehow) make me feel a little better. Thank you for doing what you're doing :)
hope your weekend turns out good, man. hang in there
Hang in there
@@adambriceland6588 Its not easy but I do my best
These story’s are the perfect example why I’d never stay at hostels and anyone should also not do. Keep safe, the world is a dangerous place to be in
Before today I did not even know what a 'hostel' really was, never mind that they had them in the USA!
Mr Nightmare always puts a smile on my face whenever he uploads a video
Good for you
Great stories as always Mr. Nightmare, I can't wait for the summer stories
Always look forward to your new content. Never fail to deliver!!! I wish we could make movies out of these stories
@Fury what's that damn link stop spamming it
I agree with Tyler; they should do something like a show with each episode being one or two stories.
@@tyrexdragonthe1bonniefan305 just report and block them
Some of them would be SO good!
I remember when I first discovered this channel and thought all these stories happened to one unfortunate guy
This dude got he most calm voice and says the scariest stuff
Cannot wait to watch this new video, love all of your stories so entertaining and thrilling
More so listen to than watch, yeah?😉
I will never stay in a shared place lol
@@kingdomreturn304 same sharing room with strangers makes me paranoid.
@@klyzer5725 Same dude I cant be in a shared room with someone unless its your gf, never know their intention.
You ever had a shared place you stayed?
Omg number 2 is my favorite as well lol. Everybody says it wasn’t as
great. But man that movie is good
Love listening to these stories, makes my day!
Thanks! Absolutely love your horror content!
Wouldn't feel staying in a room with a bunch of strangers it's creepy when you think about it
I have to agree.
It’s always a good day when Mr. Nightmare uploads
I’m so happy you’re uploading more frequently mr nightmare, I’ve been watching your channel for 6-7 years now and I rewatch your videos because they’re too entertaining to me. Keep it up and thank you for making my day better
Everybody writes these comments, I don’t think ur special

i love Mr. Nightmare videos 😍 so excited to watch this.
no matter how broke i am, I'm not sharing a place where i sleep with strangers
it's wild that people are even comfortable enough with the idea of sharing private space with randoms because "it's cheap"
I'd rather sleep in the piss outside
Mr. Nightmare being that active at uploading videos really makes my day better....
The only channel that I've watched very consistently... addicted to these stories.
I've binged watched every single video of this guy. His videos are that good
why are you binging his videos, use google or just search here on youtube, imagine using bing
@@throwawayaccount5785 what? They mean binge watching, like snack and watch all vids, don't know if you're being sarcastic.
Perfect timing. It's raining where I live & there isn't anything on TV. I was so happy it's a new video of Mr. Nightmare. Great stories as always.
God bless 👑🙏🏻🕊❤❤❤
@@MatthewL123 Thank you. I really appreciate that. 🤗
Just about to enjoy another video by Mr. Nightmare, great as always!
Who came here after he deleted his recent video 😭😭😭 WE LOVE THE VIDEOSSS
SAME
oms im lookn dumb asl 😂
I'd never been to a hostel and now I never will . Thanks Mr. Nightmare, keep up the scares😅
You can get a single or a double room, travel with a friend.
@@dobreangel or you can just take proper precautions. Go to a high rated hostel, with lockers for your luggage, if you're a woman and don't want to sleep in the same room as a man, request a female only room. Basic shit.
@@fourtwenty1813
Exactly. I can definitely understand why some people would be uncomfortable with sharing a sleeping space with strangers, but hostels aren't inherently terrible or scary places to be. Just be smart about where you go. As much as some creepy or unsettling experiences happen, there are many more experiences that don't.
Mr Nightmare always knows the best times to post videos!
Yeeesssssss!! Starting the weekend with mr.nightmare 😆 thank you for your time making amazing videos!! Have an amazing weekend 🤩
the first picture in the vid is LITERALLY where i stayed while on a trip in highschool, AND MY EXACT ROOM!!! already scariest vid on youtube fr

Friday night, little road trip, Mr. Nightmare stories just dropped, gonna be a good drive 👍
Just recently subbed to your channel last week and been absolutely addicted, been watching every video when possible, thanks for all the creative content 😎👍🖤
I'm loving these uploads keep it up
I have an alternative ending to the last story: A few years ago I was a manager at a clothing store in a mall.
LETS GO!!!!!!
Mr Nightmare can't bless us enough on this awesome Friday.
Perfect way to start off my weekend! You never disappoint Mr. Nightmare
These stories were pretty weak ngl.
@@aabha7411 i swear I’m not the only one who has a different opinion from yours
@@sandiaa.g That's fine but in reality these three stories aren't that scary. The first one is just guy getting creeped out by a guy who looked at him, the second was just an attempted robbery, and the the third a guy just took a girl's phone for the day. Seriously, I have been robbed before, and although it's not a good feeling I wouldn't consider a scary story.
@@aabha7411 why are are you spoiling it for those who have not seen the video? It does not have to be scary to be a good story smh
@@aabha7411 i was only speaking for myself and not for you. You are entitled to your own opinion however, my comment had nothing to do with yours so there was really no reason to make your comment under my post just saying
Thanks for the stories, always are entertaining 😁
i legit asked "what is a hostel?" and i open the video to you answering my question. thank you
There’s no way I would stay in hostels and sleep with strangers. I don’t even like sleeping in a hotel room with my friends if we travel together.
The definition of a hostile sounds scary in itself.
Those Friday Mr. Nightmare uploads be hitting different
You know its a great Friday night when Mr Nightmare uploads!
Driving back from a tennis match with my team in a bus, this is a blessing for the rest of a 3 hour drive, thanks mr nightmare
I travel alone, but nothing will ever make me stay at a hostel, especially in a mixed dormitory. I’m too worried about my own safety and that of my belongings.
You and MrBallen are the GOATS of scary story telling!
