I put the GIVI sra1172 on my 2022 non tour DCT model. It fit perfectly. No problems. Good advice is to keep thing loose until everything else is fitted and screwing in easily.
Hi good video. I also have the back rest which was fitted by the dealer. I just wondered how hard is it to remove the back rest then fit a Shad top box. As you say they do look a bit better. I was going to get a ali lid and get it sprayed the same mud grey colour of the bike. Can your top box hold 2 helmets?
I have two Givi boxes large and small, the large box holds two helmet's . i think the big box is a V47 from memory, Having fitted my back rest i think i could have it off in half an hour, once you know how it fits its not a big job. Hopes that helps
Great job! Looks great! As one who never rides with a pillion...and only uses the top box on 2 trips a year, im torn between the givi and shad. Any recommendations now that youve had the givi over a year? New subscriber!
The givi spoils the look of the bike but does the job,and can be removed in 20 mins. I think the shad looks better in a picture, but I've not seen it in the flesh. Hope that helps
To be honest i had no intension of fitting a top box I think it spoils the look of the bike , but if i use it to go on a tour ill need one. Any way it's a long story things did not go to plan it was a cluster !!!!!!!!!!
I might have missed something here but isn’t the ‘peg’ you removed part of the top box fitting? I fitted a Givi rack and top box to my VFR and when putting the top box onto the rack it clicks and locks the box to the rack.
@@yorkshirebiker1293 I went ahead and bought the rack based on the Italian moto parts company that said that it definitely would. We will see. The parts are here and I'll get around to installing them one of these days. I'll let you know.
The Gold Wing has no top box, the Gold Wing Tour has a top box, their is a £10000 difference in price. For me the wife could not get on the tour model as she's only 5' 3" and the arm rest's got in the way
@@RetiredtoRideSpain Yes I think you can you it from Honda and fit it ,but at what cost I hate to think. There a lot of differences between the tour and none tour model not just the top box.

I absolutely love my 2018 GW non tour, but it would be nice to have a part time top box. Thanks for the video. Beautiful bike!New sub!
Good video , I agree panniers not much use for touring .
Thanks for instruction on fitting , I may put Givi on mine for the odd tour .
It's not the best looking but doe's the job, the Shad look's a little flimsy to me. I've fitted it for touring, finger's crossed
The shad is much cheaper, but not as beefy ,
not as easy to alter if you have back rest,
and need to drill infill panal
Nice one. Fitted a Givi rack and top box to mine. As much as i hate the look, its so handy being able to lock away my lid. New sub as well!
It spoils the look but so handy, i love the back rest's they work a treat 👍😊
GOOD VID PT ENJOYED IT .THE BOX AND BRACKET LOOK WELL .GOOD ADDITION .
Cheers Baz
Hope the hip's on he mend GOOD LUCK
Bel lavoro. Come ha fatto a prendere le misure precise per fari i fori? Grazie

Would it be easier to buy the back pad for the top box? Certainly adds much needed extra room though.
To be honest i had no intension of fitting a top box

I only took it off to put a thin pack under it as it was very tight to latch down the pack just made it easier to latch down
Does anybody know if this same rack can be mounted on a 2022 DCT model? The accessory websites say no but that might just be a caution.
Sorry not sure, but cant see any difference so I would think it should

@@dougmacpherson2610 The 2 covers a the back are a little awkward, I used a plastic knife and they came out, bit nerve racking.
Givi make a backrest that attaches to the top box which would have saved you having to modify the top plate.
I've always been a luchy bar steward
😊👍, Is there an official Honda top box for it

@@yorkshirebiker1293 thanks, I was hoping there was an OEM top box like the tour top case from Honda.

not just the top box.
It seems all official Honda accessories are very expensive, the Chinese copies seem ok to me and I would never have gone that way normally 👍
@@johnchalker2915 Yes the back rest's were spot on for me
The pegs in the screws are an attempt at anti theft, so someone doesn't just unscrew it.
Not thought of that ,the bastard's round here would have wheel the bike away and left the rack
You could have got a backrest to fit on the top box , would have saved a lot of faffing about
